Happy Flowers!

I just realized that my poor blog has been neglected the last few days. It’s no other reason but that I’ve had a VERY busy week. But not so busy that I didn’t have time to pick myself some flowers today.

As I looked out the front window this morning the Cosmos seem to be reaching towards the sun. This prompted me to take a few pictures and then pick myself a bouquet.

How about a Cosmo’s eye view?

If you have a brown thumb and want an easy flower to grow, cosmos are for you. If you let them go to seed, they will drop the seed and replant themselves automatically and you’ll have almost a constant supply of flowers year round. (in the warmer states of course) You do still have to pull out the old flowers though. I’m sure in the Summer these would do great up North though too. They grow so fast that even the weeds don’t stand a chance, so that’s a bonus right there.

Here’s this mornings bouquet.

Doesn’t it just make you happy?

Have a lovely day my friends.

OXOX,

Kim

  1. HA, I tried growing cosmos a few years ago and within hours of putting the seedlings in the garden, they had completely withered up and virtually disappeared!!!

I DO love them though ~ ever since as a 7-yr old I stood in a field of cosmos stretching as far as the eye could see on the plains of Kenya. Those were white and various shades of pink.

I would love to have a patch of them in my yard someday. Might have to try them again!

  2. Hi Kim, I loved this post but have never seen orange Cosmos. I always had them in Ca.(they are one of hubby's favorites)and then started them here. The second year I had thousands-due to the seed self-sowing so last year pulled a lot out. This year we will redo our beds in the yard and add rocks so they may not survive. Thanks for sharing, have a great afternoon.
    Hugs, Noreen
