It's Been Way to Long!

Not that I'm complaining or anything. But it dawned on me today that I haven't seen any in a very very long time.
I know their evil plan. They're waiting for me to let my guard down. They are waiting for me to step into my closet without hesitation. To put my shoes on without investigating them first. To let the thought that my reflexes are slower because of the cold get the best of me. But I'm on to them. I know they're out there. Waiting. Watching. Waiting some more. And then it will happen. They will come out of the woodwork and once again force me to sleep with one eye open.
What am I talking about? Spiders! It's been way to long since I've seen one and they're either doing one of two things. Hibernating because of the cold. Do they do that? Or they are nesting and multiplying in a nice warm corner in my nice dark closet.
Most of you remember this incident. Well I'm not looking for a repeat appearance from his cousins.
What's your phobia?

  1. If it is cold then they are gone. Be thankful. I hate those things. Snakes are my phobia. YUCK! I freak out.

  2. Come to think of it...I haven't seen them lately at my house either. I would like to think that it's due to the expensive bug guy who comes every other month. We get one inch scorpions, which is the whole reason the bug guy comes. I can't stand those things!

  3. I had the movers pack my boxes when we were moving from OK to Germany. I walked into my living room after they left and what did I see on one of the boxes? A giant tarantula, I kid you not. I couldn't find any bug spray to I had my daughter walk to the store that was right around the corner to get some. I stayed behind to watch that thing. As I was waiting for her I was wondering to myself "what am I going to do if it moves?" Thankfully my daughter got home and I made her spray it. She sprayed a lot on it and it went crazy. It must of shriveled up and died because we never saw that thing again. Sleeping that night was no easy thing for me. I pray you don't have a repeat spider performance anytime soon.

  6. Spiders - my brothers use to chase me around the house with spiders in their hands teasing me (or pretending to have them in their hands) - I get the sweaty palms and my heart beats extra fast when I see one - in particular the big hairy ones that like to live in the corner of the room. Until a spider is removed from the house, I won't go in. I didn't drive the car for a week after see one on the window. Ok - that's enough from me - I could go on and on.......

Heights and snakes are other ones - we have the most poison snakes in Australia so I think I have ever reason to be scared:)

  8. I personally am partial to spiders. When I was a young lassie, my brother and I would have "Who can pull the most legs off of daddy long leg spiders?" competitions. Yessiree, that's what hill billy kids like us were demented enough to do!! Oh, and I have a lot of hopping tales about frogs and their legs as well......

  11. Kim,

I would recommend have an exterminator come out and spray your property and home for every crawling creature before you see them. I did manage to peek at your post about the first visitor and I don't think I could handle seeing or feeling another one of those. Yikes seriously do they get that big where you live. I thought spiders that big are only found in the deserts.

  12. Oh I went back and read that story again - I laughed, but it also made my heart beat faster! I would NOT like that!

I really really don't like spiders, but like it less when I'm the one that has to kill them - the spray just doesn't always work and you don't know which ones can jump. We get black widows, which is really scary 'cause they're poisonous. But big spiders scare me the worst!

Big now-you've-made-me-completely-paranoid-for-the-rest-of-the-day-thanks-a-lot hugs to you! :) Have a super day my friend!

  13. I went back to read your unwelcome visitor post and had a good laugh. I don't like spiders either. Or snakes. Unfortunately, my oldest daughter (yes, daughter) likes both. So I asked her and she said that spiders die for winter, but leave egg sacks and their babies hatch in the spring. Sorry, but watch out for little baby spiders come spring. Or search for their sacks and get rid of them now. :)

  14. The best way to kill spiders to hair spray (smells nicer than spider/fly spray) - just coat the spider in hairspray and they can no longer breath and therefore die.

  15. I just went back and read your link. Thanks for the chills, girl. Spiders are the only thing that give me spastic dance moves. I'm totally with you.

Only now, don't expect me to come visit you. Not gonna happen!! Lol!

I'm glad you are having a spider break.
