A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Proverbs 17:22

To the 3 people that are still home and reading blogs this week!

I need your help. I've been trying to put together some workout music to take to the gym. You know, the songs that get your butt movin'! The ones that you're afraid you'll break out in song while on the treadmill?
Well I'm having a brain slump and haven't been able to find just the right songs for that. I have a few. But I want lots!
What are YOUR favorite songs for working out? What gets your blood pumping?
I must tell you that I'm a big fan of 80's music. And although I am a Christian myself, I can't seem to work out to Christian music. It makes me want to jump off the treadmill and head to church. Not a bad thing but it won't burn the calories unless I jog there.
So what have you got?
Hit me with your best shot! LOL! Did anybody pick up on that?
Sorry it's still early.

So can you help me out? Give me your favorite most favorite upbeat happy songs.

Thank you my friends.

And just because I can, I'm linking this up to:

  3. I don't know why but Ricky Martin gets me going La Vida Loca everytime!!

  4. There's always the Eye of the Tiger. :) I'm not much help, b/c I'd do better with some sort of talking--news, commentary, etc.--my problem is I hate stationary exercise, so anything that passes the time is what I like; music doesn't fit the bill for me.

  5. I can't think of a whole list of songs, but one that pops into my head is "Walking on Sunshine".

  6. No sweatin' with the saints? No "jump" with Kirk Franklin and the gang?

Well okay! Then how about "She works hard for the money" (and I promise God won't be mad 'cause you're singing about the oldest profession in the world). And all the above would be perfect --- with the exception of Ricky Martin! At my age, doing Le Vida Loca would probably put me into cardiac arrest!!

  11. I love the 80's music too. but that must be because that was the time that we were young teen girls and that music just brings back fun memories. I hate to admit it but I do not work out! I know! I am so bad! I need to get my butt in gear and get exercising back into my routine of life but up to this point, it has not found its way back since about 10 years ago. Maybe I need to listen to some 80's music again on a regular basis so that it gets me hoppin' like a teenager again. :)

  12. I really don't have any ideas...just being honest! =) My husband really likes 80's music, I am a country girl. But I wanted to say HI anyway! So, "Hi!"

  13. Ok - this isn't 80s music but I feel like it's a good, upbeat tune! How about Beyonce - Put a Ring On It!

  14. I picked up on you Pat Benatar!! I also love 80s music and my favorite while walking is diso! YMCA, The Bee Gees - Saturday Night Fever, etc.
I do have a mix of praise music on my mp3 though - newsboys, alvin slaughter, 3rd day etc.

  15. It seems you do have a few more than 3 people reading your blog! :)

Hmmmm...definitely 80's music for me to get moving, but I'm having a hard time thinking of specific songs. I like Sherry's suggestions and I was already thinking of Eye of the Tiger - LOL! What about Whitney Houston's Say You Want To Dance With Me?

Big can't-wait-to-see-what-you-start-grooving-to hugs to you! Have a wonderful day my friend!

  16. I'm so bad at song suggestions (I never remember the titles or artist, just the beat. Oh, and all the words...lol)

Anyway, looks like you've gotten some good 80's suggestions, but back to the Christian theme... try Skillet or Becka Shae. Some awesome recent songs that will get you moving!

  17. The song I love by Beckah Shae right now is Here in this Moment.

    Rockin. :)

  18. Ummm... I only listen to Christian music so take my suggestions or leave them, it's up to you. When I did work out (yep I said did, it's kinda sad) I listened to Jeremy Camp's Lay Down My Pride and Take My Life. I don't think they'll make you want to run to church and worship!

  19. I love the 80's music too. I used to love B52's Love shack. Not sure if it is good to work out to...but I loved it:)

I do love my Christian music to work out too. I am sure people around me though, think I am crazy, b/c there are just times I can't help but lift my hands in praise!
I love Natalie Grant's, "I will not be moved"

  25. I totally understand :-) An 80s girl myself, what helps get me moving...C&C Music Factory, Black Eyed Peas (Let's Get It Started & Pump It), Devo's Whip It, Billy Idol's Rebel Yell, some Queen, David Bowie's Modern Love, The Power Station's Bang A Gong, some Duran Duran, Brian Setzer Orchestra's Jump, Jive and Wail... most of those are on my Ipod. I do have Christian songs too, but those put me in a different mood, like you shared. Miki

  26. World Wide Message Tribe is a group that has christian lyrics with a "Get your behind moving" kinda beat! I bought mine in the early 2000 and my kids LOVE it! ALSO a GREAT ONE for music to reprogram your brain.... Apologetix. They re-write the old songs we grew up on with bible story lyrics! Great way to re-program the brain! Here is their site!

  28. I know this is late, but reckon you'll see it when it pops up in your approval basket. Have you ever listened to Guardian? They rock my socks off and dont make me wanna jump off the treadmill and put on my Sunday bonnet. My personal favourite... DS's fave.

Petra does a lot of that stuff, as well. First that comes to mind is Dance.

Glad I revisited this post. Now I'm gonna go refill my player. 8-]
