Oy! I survived the 1st week of the 5 Weeks to a Clean and Organized Home put on by Christian Homekeeper.
The week played out something like this.
Monday was cleaning the fridge, freezer and oven.
I managed to clean my fridge. Eww! And my oven. Ugh!
I'll spare you the pictures that will give you the impression that I never do ANY cleaning. I clean, I really do, but before I know it, it looks icky again. I know you know what I'm talking about.
Tuesday was cleaning the floors and under appliances.
Okay, I admit I was a little grossed out at what I found under my oven.
I did take before and after pictures but I'm a little to embarrassed to show them to you! Hee! Hee!
Just take my word for it, it is now CLEAN!
But just so you know. I found a bouncy ball, 4 plastic magnetic letters, pieces of a broken salt shaker, 2 spiders, some Cheerios (we haven't eaten Cheerios in YEARS), and a lot of dust and dirt!
Just gather your own visual and we'll move on!
Wednesday was cleaning the cupboards and storage areas.
I had done my top cabinets not to long ago but I didn't manage to do my bottom yet. I'm playing make up day today.
Thursday brought about cleaning your small appliances.
In my mind I'm thinking that this would be cake because I don't have a lot of small appliances. Yeah, okay! As soon as I started seeking them out I realized I had more than I thought. I think the ickiest thing was the toaster if you can believe that.
Friday was cleaning the wood work and windows and such.
Since my cabinets are white, they show dirt, spaghetti sauce, smoothies gone wild, etc. very easily, so it's something that I try to keep up with on a regular basis but once in awhile I'll look down at a cupboard and wonder how long the big long drip of sunthin' has been there? Oh well!
It's not to late to join in the "fun".
Next week we are concentrating on the Living Room!
Have a FABULOUS weekend my sweet friends!
Pssst! Be on the look out for a giveaway coming up next week! Your kids and you will love it!
OMG, I am tired just reading this. I wish you could do mine. Spring cleaning isn't in my vocabulary, I don't have time with 2 jobs. But sure would like to have a clean house, you go girl!!!!
ReplyDeleteWay to go girl!! Youth ..to have so much energy.
ReplyDeleteMy back was hurting and I don't have a lot of burning the candles at both ends any more..sooo instead of sweeping and dusting the baseboards..my hubbie brought in the big..I'm telling you big shop-vac!!! Floor..baseboards..under everything..poof-be-gone!!!!
And why didn't I know about this big jewel yrs ago!!!!!!
Hugs.. have a great weekend..a give away...yeah..looking forward to it!!
Cindy from Rick-Rack and Gingham
Yeah...great work! I too am tired just reading it.
ReplyDeleteI had to clean our toaster the other day...to avoid a fire. Man, that thing was gross!
have a great weekend! God bless - Holly
Yep, you're making me tired! I think it is easier to move, LOL!
ReplyDeleteWe had white cabinets at our country cottage and I adored them. EXCEPT that they showed every little speck of food debris. You would think that we had food fights or something, LOL. It DID force me to clean them on a regular basis!
I'm very impressed Kim!
ReplyDeleteI started my spring cleaning but got as far as the refrigerator. In this rental home, it's old and I spent so much time cleaning the coils that were black and dust filled. Then I had to wash the kitchen floor from all of the dirt from the fridge. LOL.
Fun ...yeah right!
I will be back to cleaning today though.
Love you,
Debbie
We tore our home apart last week & oh, how is sparkles! Amazing how quickly the fuzzys find there way back tho.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend.
TTFN ~Hugs, Marydon
Oh my! I am going to check out this site! I am sooo intrigued :) plus.....I need to do this SO BAD!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY WEEKEND KIM!
Love ya
I'm totally unmotivated to do spring cleaning this year. Maybe I'll visit the sites you mentioned for some inspiration to add to what I got from your post!
ReplyDeleteI was all motivated to do spring cleaning but it's had to take a backseat these last few weeks, as you know.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this'll be just the thing to motivate me next week! I can always jump in with the living room and then do the kitchen later!
Wow good jobs. I moved my fridge the other day and swept under it thanks to you. I lost my lunch. LOL I kid. IT was nasty under there...but now it is clean as a whistle.
ReplyDeleteI will try to tackle a few more this week too.
Kim,
ReplyDeleteSInce cleaning the kitchen might be the most challenging, hopefully it's all down hill from here. Yikes do I have some catching up to do.
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
I did half the kitchen, the girls' room and the living room. Does that count? I say that because I was supposed to do our room and the bathrooms this weekend and all we did was spend money and work on our budget today. A little financial spring cleaning:-)
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm impressed. It's amazing what you can find when you REALLY clean, isn't it?? Especially in places where you would rather not find them! :) I'll have to go check out that site since you've offered some motivation!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat new look for your blog!!
And thanks for checking out my new homeschool blog.
Many Blessings to you!
Your house must be glowing. Congratulations!!!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait til you come here and do my house for me - hee, hee!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm very impressed with all you got done! Fantastic my friend!!
I did get the spare room bookcases reorganized and completely cleaned out/organized the closet in there which was scary. Had to get it all tidied up 'cause my Dad might be coming out tomorrow for a visit! But I have so much more to do. It'll have to wait until after Dad leaves though.
Big under-the-appliances-was-probably-the-scariest-so-everything-else-should-be-easier hugs to you!! Hope you had a lovely weekend my friend!
So motivated...way to go! Now, can you come over and work on the barn...?
