Homemade Simmering Potpourri!

Simmer Potpourri 1

So I was decorating my house for Fall the other day and came across my little Potpourri Crock.
That caused me to go searching for some things that I could simmer in it to make my house smell all "Fallish" and stuff.
Here's the mixture that I came up with.
4 cinnamon sticks
1 TSP. of whole cloves
1/2 tsp of allspice
2 orange slices
water for simmering

Just throw it all in your little crock, if you have one, if not you can do this on the stove in a little saucepan.
Just keep an eye on the water level. Keep plenty in there for simmering!
The house smells sooooo good right now!

  1. Oh man, I bet it smells heavenly. Thanks for the recipe. Might have to try this!

  4. LOL! Do you ever glance at something and 'see' the wrong word? I was sure you were sharing a recipe for homemade simmering popcorn! Like, huh? OK, I'll bite. I read the post and wondered, 'where's the popcorn come in?'. LOLOL! Anyhow, I love simmering spices and making the house smell like apple pie or some other wonderful something-or-other. And I actually found some REAL cinnamon sticks at World Market a couple weeks ago. Can't wait to try those.

    Love ya loads, scented sister!
    Have a JESUS-filled day! ^i^

  5. This looks / smells YUMMY!! Can't wait to try it. I just found your blog and am so happy I did! My husband and I are considering homesteading. In the meantime, we're baking our own bread, making our own butter...and researching land! I'm your newest follower! Can't wait to dig in!

  6. I do this exact thing!! Love the smells it creates! My little pot even looks like that!

  7. I can just imagine the smell- it would fill the house with Fall!

  8. Love those smells!! I've been following Joanne from Blessed's exact recipe for the last couple of years and I LOVE it!

  9. I was hoping to find the recipe on your blog...I saw the pic on your daughter's blog and wanted to know how to make it. I can't wait...

  10. Mmm. Great idea! The weather has finally turned fallish here, so the timing is perfect!

  11. I will try this immeadiately. Fall is finally emerging after a summer of drought. This lovely aroma is perfect to lift spirits, especially since candels do not like me so much! Thank you!

  12. Orange, clove and cinnamon...there's almost no better scent to fill your home. (Homemade bread is another favorite!) :)

  13. Thanks for sharing! Fall smells wonderful!
