We’ve Gone a Little Nuts!

A few days ago I posted this picture on my FB page.

IMG_6330 My Mom used to buy these for my dad around this time every year. My dad loves nuts and I think it was mom’s way of giving in by making him work for them. LOL!

Little did I know that it not only held memories for me but for some of you as well.

And now I not only have the memory of my dad and the shelled nuts but now I have made new memories with my boys.

IMG_6350  I had no idea that they would love cracking nuts as much as they have. I’m not kidding. They’ve looked forward to it every day since I showed them how to crack each nut. We actually plan “nut cracking” into our day now. Because that’s how we do things. We plan. *smile*IMG_6348

So tell me your memory associated with shelled nuts. (If you have one of course.)

Have a lovely day.

  2. When we were young, that was the only way we had nuts at Christmas time! It's terrific that you are creating such enduring memories!

  3. I grew up on a farm and we had lots of walnut trees which we ate and used in cooking. But us kids had collect bags of walnuts which we sold to an Italian man who then pickled them. I really disliked collecting walnuts!

  4. Love it! My dad liked having nuts year-round and of course we had to shell them. Our faves were the hazelnuts and walnuts. I used to use the walnut shells for crafts or even furniture for little toy people - LOL.

Big weren't-you-already-a-bunch-of-nuts-before-you-bought-that-bag size hugs to you!! LOL!!! Love you friend! :)
