Thankful Thursday

I'm dedicating this weeks Thankful Thursday to my daughter. She is growing up to be such a beautiful young woman. Not just in appearance but in heart. Lately she had been doing some babysitting and extra chores to earn money to buy herself a new sewing machine. My husband and I had been talking about getting her one ever since she had been having trouble with her old machine, so the other day my husband and I went to Sears and bought her a new Kenmore Sewing Machine. (my parents went in half). She loves to sew and she's been such a huge help to us and we are so proud of her that we wanted to do this for an early birthday present. She had no idea that we were even considering doing this for her. So that day I took her to the library. Conveniently she had gotten some sewing books. I almost couldn't hold in the excitement of what was waiting for her at home. When we got home my husband had the machine waiting on the bed and the camera rolling. She just burst into tears with joy. I know she will probably read this(she's nosy like that), so my dear daughter, know that we love you so much and are very very proud of you! I'll probably be in the kitchen when you're reading this so you can come give me a hug lol!
Here is a picture of the dress she just sewed yesterday. Isn't it great! She must have deleted the picture with her head in it lol.
Note: I just saw that this Thankful Thursday was about trust. So I'll add that I trust that my daughter is going to grow up to be a wonderful, godly woman who loves the Lord. I think I would have posted this anyway had I known it was about trust to begin with because she was the first thing I thought of today when I remembered it was Thankful Thursday. Forgive me for straying from the theme.

Blessings my friends,

  1. LOL! I didn't realize there was a "theme" to Thankful Thursday! My list had nothing to do with trust! So, at least you know you aren't alone in "straying" from the topic!

That is so sweet what you and dh did for your dd. The dress is very cute!

  2. I didn't know we had themes! Each week? Oh, I have been a rebel and didn't even know it. I'm crying over your post. It is so fun to do surprise things for our children. What a great gift! God must feel the same way when He has surprises in store for us too. Thank you for reading my lengthy post. I honestly didn't think anyone would make it to the end but I felt God leading me to write it anyway. Oh, I wish we lived closer. Perhaps our girls could be BFFs. I'm praying for your daughter too! And her dress... wow! Great job!!!!

  4. Being a new reader of your blog I do not know the age of your daughter. But I am impressed that a young lady would WANT a sewing machine much less actually know how to use it. And use it so well. My goodness. she is such a blessing with that talent! Watch out world!

  8. What a delight! I love doing things to "surprise" my little ones, even at their young ages. I pray that they grow up to be as delightful as your daughter...and as talented in their own gifts as she is in hers!

  10. How precious is this news on your daughter! How precious as parents you are to do this for her! I'm glad I came across your blog. This is such a great story. My daughters are learning how to hand-sew. I pray that eventually they will have the desire to use a machine or just a desire to sew more.

From the sounds of it, I trust that your daughter will grow up to be a Godly woman too.
