The Simple Woman's Daybook

For Today...

Outside my Window...the stillness of the early morning, an early bird preparing for the day.

I am thinking...of all the things I need to do today and how I'm going to get them all done.

I am thankful for...my hardworking husband and 3 wonderful kids.

From the kitchen...fresh bread this morning and homemade granola bars.

I am wearing...my red nightgown....it's still early, but I'm getting dressed after this.

I am reading... Joey Green's Incredible Country Store

I am hoping...that our new business adventure takes off.

I am hearing...the clock ticking, the ceiling fan whirling and my fingers tap dancing over the keys.

Around the house.. Have mercy, we are in the middle of a major redo. I'll be posting about that tomorrow for tackle it Tuesday lol.

One of my favorite things...after supper and showers when we all get to just chill out together as a family.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...work on our redo project, bread making, library...

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you... this was my Grandparents house in East Boothbay Maine. It was an old ship Captains house way back when. It's over a 100 years old and we got to go in it the last time I was in Maine 2 years ago. Though the new owner had gutted it, he kept the character and craftmanship intact. The stairs I used to run up and down where still there. The screen door that I ran in and out of was still there. He even gave us some of the old windows that we are going to turn into end tables and other things. Oh and some of the old door knobs which are so cool. I'm going to make a coat rack out of those. As you can see this picture brings back many fond memories for me. Notice the water in the background. It sits right on the harbor. Ahhh memories. I better stop or I might start crying lol.

Blessings my friends!

  1. Oh I love hearing of your memories. Isn't it wonderful to be able to relive our childhood through our memories? My grandparents had a laundry shoot to the basement and we tried so hard to slide down that with out getting caught. Running and playing doing things we probably shouldn't have done. But knowing the love that was in the house was all we felt and knew. I love my memories.

  5. It looks like a house full of memorable moments. What an incredible view! I've always wanted to visit Maine and maybe venture over to Prince Edward Island so I can see where Anne of Green Gables was written. Have a blessed day!

  6. What a great use for the old door knobs! My mother found a door knob in her childhood home just before the row of houses was to be condemned. How I wish I had kept it!
