Calling all friends....

I interrupt this regularly scheduled Thankful Thursday to ask for some help.
Okay funny story first. Well sort of funny.
Two weeks ago I ask my daughter what she would want me to make for her birthday dinner this Saturday and she said my salmon patties. I said okay. She also said she wanted the peanut butter pie that I had for my birthday for hers. I said okay. She then asked if my friend Kathy could come over. I said okay. Actually "Aunt" Kathy invited herself before I could lol. Anyway all was set and then my daughter started to think. She said maybe we should have Chicken Bryan, since Kathy doesn't like fish. I said, that's a lot of work. I said come up with something else. She then realized Kathy doesn't care to much for peanut butter. So she said she wouldn't mind if I made the Double Chocolate Tiramisu that I made on Monday. I said okay. Then she paused for a moment and said, "When did this become all about Kathy." LOL! I had to laugh. I had to tell Kathy and we both got a kick out of it, but Kathy did inform my daughter that she can have whatever she wants and then turned to me and said, just make both desserts lol. I said hmmm, maybe!
So here is where I need your help. I would like to make my daughter something special for dinner that wouldn't be to time consuming. I have a lot going on Saturday aside from her birthday. She loves everything. Chicken, beef, fish, etc. If you can help me either link me to one of your recipes or type it in my comments. I would REALLY appreciate it. I'm just tired of serving the same ol' same ol'. You know?
Thank you my friends. If I pick your recipe I will make a public thank you with your wonderful recipe in a post and tell you how we liked it. Unless of course it was disgusting. Then you get nadda, zip, zero!
Blessings my friends.

  1. Kim,

Ok, I think I have mentioned this is not my greatest strength, but I do have a great recipe that feeds a lot of people. It is called Oriental Chicken Stir Fry. I posted a picture and recipe Aug 14, 2008 on my blog. How would I email that to you? Or link it to you...or can you just go to my blog and check it out?

I hope she has a terrific birthday!! I am dying to post my funny tomorrow!!

    Blessings to you today!!

  2. Hmmmm. What about a crock pot recipe? I have a fancy chicken recipe that is wrapped in chipped beef that is incredible. We have it for special occasions. Would she like that? Or, you could have your sweetheart fire up the grill while you make the desserts. Happy early birthday to your sweet pea!

  4. Um, personally I think Kels was right on target with the Chicken Bryan - I mean that's a perfect birthday dinner for HER, lol. :) hee hee hee. I don't recall really INVITING myself????? :) Ok, maybe, but you do want me there, right? LOL :)
Ok, back to dinner. Make the fish, I can bring my own food!!!! :)
If not, then I am thinking Mexican, but then I'm ALWAYS thinking Mexican because that's my favorite food - but since her birthday isn't ALL about me, then I don't really know why I'm making any suggestions at all, :)
Have a great morning my friend - see you at the gym!

  5. I love Stroganoff, but then again, this birthday isn't about ME either. I have lost my Betty Crocker cookbook in my move so I looked this up on the internet. It does not have all the ingredients that I remember. ie, I thought it had a some catchup in it, like a tablespoon or two. I hope you select this and tell me how much you enjoyed it!!! Happy Birthday to the younger one "In Training".

    Classic Beef Stroganoff
Basic ingredients, quick prep and great flavor—all reasons that this dish is a classic!

    Prep Time:20 min
    Start to Finish:40 min
    Makes:6 servings

1 1/2 pounds beef sirloin steak, 1/2 inch thick
8 ounces fresh mushrooms, sliced (2 1/2 cups)
    2 medium onions, thinly sliced
    1 garlic clove, finely chopped
    1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 1/2 cups Progresso® beef flavored broth (from 32-ounce carton)
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    1/4 cup Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
    1 1/2 cups sour cream
3 cups hot cooked egg noodles

    1. Cut beef across grain into about 1 1/2x1/2-inch strips.
    2. Cook mushrooms, onions and garlic in butter in 10-inch skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until onions are tender; remove from skillet.
    3. Cook beef in same skillet until brown. Stir in 1 cup of the broth, the salt and Worcestershire sauce. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 15 minutes.
    4. Stir remaining 1/2 cup broth into flour; stir into beef mixture. Add onion mixture; heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. Stir in sour cream; heat until hot (do not boil). Serve over noodles.

  8. I'd go for the yummy beef stroganoff mentioned above! I think it's so sweet of your daughter to put Kathy's wants above her own! That's precious! Happy Thankful Thursday and Happy (early) Birthday to your daughter.

  9. I made these earlier this week, and the fam loved 'em.

    Mini Meatloaf
1lb. lean ground beef (we use ground turkey)

    1 pkg. Stuffing mix

    1tsp. garlic powder

    3/4 c barbecue sauce

    3/4 c shreded cheese

Heat oven to 375. Mix your meat, stuffing mix, 1 cup water and 1 tsp. garlic powder. Press into muffin cups, recipe says to use all 12, but I only used 8. Make sure you spray your muffin pan. Make an indention in the center of each mini loaf with a spoon; fill with sauce. Bake for 30 minutes or until cooked through (160* F). Top with cheese; bake for 5 min. more or until cheese melts. Mmm..mmm Good!!

  10. I am going to have to think on this one...I know I don't have much time, but my brain is really sleepy. I will take a nap and see what I "dream" up!

  11. Looks like you got some great suggestions. My 26 year old daughter loves pasta salad add some bacon and salami to it. It would go great with the salmon or chicken. I know everyone is giving you main dish selections.
Go over Sandra's at the Stay at Home mom she has some great recipes.
I love the meatloaf suggestion though that someone gave you. I think I might try it myself.
    Good luck and many Blessings,
    Sherry
btw I love your layout it is so cute and I love the cowboy hat in the photo. But that is because I love all cowboy stuff.
