Playdough fun!

The boys and I had a little time on our hands the other day and decided to play with our homemade play dough (recipe below). There is just something soothing about squishing play dough between your fingers. It's very therapeutic and I highly recommend. Next time you get frustrated with a member of the family, just reach for the play dough my friend.
Here is my little froggy friend that I made.
Here is my 6 year old proudly displaying his...... his uh.........proudly displaying his creation.

Oh man, how'd that picture get on here. Oops sorry, that is supposed to be on my cooking blog. Oh darn, you have to look at chocolate. No these aren't made out of play dough lol.
Okay fine I just had to throw these in here for fun. Have a most excellent evening!

Play Dough
1 1/2 C. Flour
1/2 C salt
1 1/2 C. water
1 TBS veggie oil
1/2 TBS. cream of tartar
Food coloring of choice or mix for more fun colors. A few drops goes a long way.

Mix all ingredients in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium low heat, until dough comes away from edges of pan and becomes difficult to stir.
Remove from heat. Let cool until it can be handled.
Place on wax paper and knead 5-6 times.
Store in airtight container.
Have fun!

  1. So funny that I saw your post as my son handed me a sample of homemade playdough from school and a letter telling me how to make it. I have to make a batch and send it to school on Monday.

His class will be making physical relief maps with the playdough.

And where is my brownie?? :)

  5. I could use a whole plate of those brownies this morning!

Thanks for the playdough reminder. I need to make some for my little one, but will have to get some regular salt and flour first - no way I'm using my organic stuff for that. LOL!
