........House #3!!!
Before I reveal who made house #3 a few of you wanted to hear about our gingerbread house making experience and since I couldn't spill anything in my last post I'm going to designate this post for that. The winner will be revealed within this spill lol! (I'll really try to have a post with substance this week. But then again that's probably not why you come HERE! LOL)
HOUSE #1
This little beauty was made by my 6 year old son. He had no real problems except for the fact that I was sitting beside him and wouldn't let him eat all the candy!
House #2
I was very impressed with my daughters this year. After she saw mine she thought for sure she was a shoo in lol. I loved her roof but she admits she needed a bit more in the front area. She had no major set backs except she was running out of green and red candies. House #3
Okay I honestly can't believe mine won! And neither can the rest of the family lol. This was not what I had invisioned. First of all I couldn't get my roof to keep from sliding. I started out with something else on the roof and then decided against it, scraped it off and was left with a big mess. By this time I was not seeing visions of sugarplums in my head. But the game of Candy Land did appear and all I could think of is that it's to late to turn back now lol. So this is when operation overkill started. There was no stopping me now. I was a woman on a mission, a mission of hope to all those before me who have tried and failed. Okay it wasn't that serious but I wasn't going to quit! I was however going to run to Walmart the next day and do another one but realized that wouldn't be fair and so I stuck with my entry. What's funny is those of you who voted for mine are people for the most part I talk to on a regular basis lol. Oh and F.Y.I. I had a snowman too. He was in the back being the lookout!
House #4
This was my husband house. He originally named this the "earthquake" house. He was having way more troubles then anyone when it came to keeping his house together. His roof has a one inch gap on top as it never set correctly and was lop sided as well. At one point he was decorating his roof and my daughter looks over and says,"Dad your wall just fell in." LoL. This same thing happened to him last year and he wasn't able to get it out. This year he used toothpicks to get it and set it back up. That's probably why you don't see anything on his sides. He was afraid to put any pressure on them lol. Oh and the snowman? They were actually holding up the roof lol. That's why we had one on each side. My poor husband. He said next year he's breaking out the caulking and the nail gun!!!
All in all we had a blast, which is why we do this in the first place! I may have to make myself a gingerbread award cookie lol. Just kidding!
I hope you enjoyed getting in on our fun and thank you so much for voting. If you have some extra time you need to go back to yesterday's post and read some of the comments. They literally made us laugh out loud. I attract some weird people LOL! But that's why I love you guys. You can make me laugh right back!
HUGS to you ALL!!
Now how in the world did that happen...that YOU won your own contest...hummm. Just kidding, that was fun Kim and I loved it that everyone got in on it. Now to tell you the truth, I thought the first house was your husbands!!! I figured it would be he that would create an "outhouse". I think that is really funny! Glad you all had so much fun.
ReplyDeleteHey there sister Kim!
ReplyDeleteThought I'd drop by and see how you're doing!
Bummer! I can't believe I missed the voting! I couldn't wait to vote! Of course, before looking at the houses, I had already decided I was going to vote on the one that obviously belonged to the youngest child. Is that cheating? Maybe that's why God let me forget. I had pre-meditated intentions! HA!
Love you precious sister!
Sunny

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being the Gingerbread House Winner!!!
ReplyDeleteThe "Love Shack" won! I voted for that one :-)
Sounds like you guys had a blast and a wonderful tradition!
Congratulations! I'm glad you won, cause I voted for yours! They were all great though. So, did you win anything, does your family have to clean the house while you watch and sip hot cocoa?? I posted my favorite Christmas cookie of all time on my blog today if you want check it out.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations...to me? or you? Yay! I loved 'em all but loved the hearts! How did I know it was yours?
ReplyDeleteHearts to you today!!!
Oh, wow, you did such a great job and it looks like you had as much fun doing them as we did. My oldest daughter has not done hers yet, so I can't wait to see what she comes up with.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know hubby was in on the fun. Did you say he was? If so, I mustn't have read very well, 'cause I missed that news. I assumed the 4 houses were you and the kiddoes. How come the 3 year old didn't play along? Were you remembering the Christmas tree decorations?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. They are ALL beautiful!! And I know lots of fun memories were made as well.
Love,
Patti
And I would have guessed who made each one of them! LOL! Congrats on winning!
ReplyDeleteYay - you won! I do love all the peppermints on that one, but if I was over there looking at it, you might discover later that there were some missing! I can imagine now if I did a house - the result would be a half-eaten "hurricane" version - LOL!
ReplyDeleteThat was so much fun!!
Big HUGS to you!! :)
I agree with you. that house is so rock!
ReplyDeleteOh what a great "FAMILY" idea...I love your hubby roof...looks like snow all over the top! =)

ReplyDeleteBy the way, are you guys going to eat your gingerbread houses? We attached Minnie's gingerbread house tonight. It looks like a Hurricane Andrew revisited Florida.
