Is it just me?

When someone compliments you on anything, say your shoes or shirt, do you kindly say thank you and change the subject? If you do, tell me how you do it. I ALWAYS feel the need to tell that person where I found my item and how much it cost! Usually because I've gotten a really good deal and I HAVE to tell that person all about it. They didn't ask for this information but I still feel the need to rattle on about how much money I saved and how I bought another pair in a different color and how I saw the same thing for twice as much somewhere else and it just goes on and on.
Please tell me I'm not alone here. Do you want to know what stemmed this post? Read on! I was at the eye doctor yesterday. First off let me tell you that before I left for the eye doctor I literally stood in front of my mirror thinking, "Okay, what do I have to do?" Because you know when you go to the dentist you brush your teeth first, when you go to the GYN you bathe first. See what I mean? Well what do you do when you go to the eye doctor? I was at a loss. I mean it really bothered me because I really felt there had to be something I could do. So I figured I'd bathe AND brush my teeth to cover all areas and went on my way. Wow, that was a huge rabbit trail wasn't it? Let me know if you catch the rabbit. Now back to the original program. So I was talking to one of the ladies at the desk and she commented on my flip flops. That's when I went into the whole, name, rank and serial number! LOL. I mean come on! Just simply say "Thank You" and be done with it! Nope not going to happen. I do this all the time. The price, the store, the colors all come out of my mouth before I even know it. My subconscious takes over and I am at its mercy.
Just tell me that you do it too and I'll feel a lot better!

Oh and by the way. I'm guest posting for Lisa's Tea for Two-sday over at Stop and Smell the Chocolates if you want to hop on over there and check it out!

BIG Hugs to you my friends.

  1. Kimmy,

My mom does the exact same thing! And it always cracks me up. If we ever compliment her she tells us where she bought it and for how much! Kid you not. I think it is the cutest thing!!! I don't do it...lol

    Happy Tuesday, my friend!

  2. I am so sorry to hear about your Aunt my friend. Hope you are doing OK. Will definitely keep the family in my prayers - I have a lot of family like that myself.

I do have a hard time with compliments, but over the years am doing better. I only tell people I know about what a deal it is! Like Sunday - a friend complimented my dress and I said, oh thanks - it was a Good Will find! With strangers, I don't but do sometimes have trouble even saying thank you.

I am loving your guest tea post on my blog my friend! How does it feel to be in two places at once - LOL?

Big Can-you-believe-I-found-these-on-sale-for-only-five-dollars Hugs my friend!! :)

  5. I do the exact same thing unless I don't know the person...but if I do know them, they know where when and how much I paid for the item. LOl

  6. I think it is the way that the compliment is given. If someone says, "I like your shoes," that is about them and it is natural to want to offer them information (because, you know...it's about them). However, if someone says, "You are wearing that dress!" or "you have a great sense of style", that is actually a compliment to you. It's about you and a simple thank you is easy to give. No additional information is required:-)
