Okay not exactly, completely open, but we have been given the opportunity to share our little piece of earth with some wonderful new friends.
Not even a year ago my husband and I (well mostly him, I just held things for him and cut wood) built a little cottage. My parents help fund this project as they would be staying in it for the winter, but we got all excited when we thought about how we would be able to bless people with it during the other part of the year.
So far we've had a long time friend and her new husband stay in it for their honeymoon. And just recently (in fact they are still in it) we've had the pleasure of meeting for the first time and housing Jennifer from Through the Storms of Life and her family.
I tell you this blogging community is nothing to shake a stick at. It's real and you meet and start caring about REAL people.
Jenn and I were talking about how it was just so weird for both our husbands to be up for this because really they were taking our words on the fact that we knew each other enough through blogging to trust one another. My husband's only question was "Are they believers?" Because to him that makes them family to begin with.
Needless to say we've all gotten along great and they are having a great time and I'm so glad to have met them.
You ready for pictures? Cause you know I got pictures?
The cool thing about this trip is Jennifer got to meet two more bloggers over here. In the picture below we have Kathy from Blessed Beyond Imagination, Jennifer, Me and Debra from Clothed with Scarlet. How cool is that? And I quickly put this picture in the beautiful picture frame Jenn got for me which is standing along side this CUTE mug, that she always got for me. I mean she came bearing gifts for the WHOLE family! You gotta love that!
Here we are setting up camp! How many people does it take to set this E-Z Shade thing up? LOL. I knew it didn't need MY help!
My son was showing me his "treasure" that he had found.
This is something that washed up from the ocean. A new breed of ocean life I think. LOL! Oy! Where does he get it from?
I love this picture of Jenn and Roger. The waves were strong that day and Roger knows I got a picture that I'm holding for blackmail! LOL. Let's just say, "Is there a plumber in the house?" LOL
Here my husband is giving some fishing pointers to Debra's son Josh! He actually caught on pretty quick to throwing the cast net!
This next picture is just funny. As we were all packed up and ready to go, tarpon (that's a really really large game fish) started jumping out of the water and bait fish were everywhere. So my husband grabs his pole and starts running down the beach after them. So here we are looking out at the ocean for the tarpon while my husband runs the beach. (You can see him in the right side of the picture! ) LOL. And who said that fishing isn't a spectators sport!
When we got back to the house. I had dinner ready in the crockpot. My sweet friend Debra asks in her sweet voice if she and Jason could run to Publix and pick up something for dessert. Sure, I said. Thinking maybe some cookies or something. NO! They came back with, ice cream, cookies, 2 cakes, a small pie, a strudel, AND two things of doughnuts! Look closely on the table and you can see it all! Have mercy!
I'm sad to see Jenn and her family go. It has been such a pleasure getting to know them. But we have now become Real Live Friends!!
And thus ends a jammed packed month, full of birthdays, cake, lake fun, cake, beach fun, cake, boat fun, cake, friends ..............and cake! If you missed this month of fun on my blog and need a smile or two, feel free to go back and check it all out!!
HUGS!!!

Sounds like you've had lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteHow awesome! That is totally the Lord that would give you peace about someone you didn't "know" yet, stay at your cottage. My husband would be hesitant, but would also ask the same question!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you all bonded so wonderfully! What a blessing!!
Kim,
ReplyDeleteHow awesome your little cottage guest house is!!!! I can tell the Lord will use that in soo many ways and bless your heart for obeying the call!! You do have the gift of hospitality my friend :)
Thanks for sharing your fun with us!
Extra rooms and living spaces used to be called Prophet Rooms for the people of God to come and stay. It is so wonderful to see you PRACTICE the Gift of Hospitality. You guys are just GREAT !
ReplyDeleteVisiting your blog always brings a smile to my face! Thank you for that, Kim.
ReplyDeleteYour hospitality shack is too cute! What a great idea and love to read that Jenn and her family could stay there. I know many of my real live friends that I actually touch (ha) don't quite get this bloggy friendship bit. But how real it is. Even BooMama asked questions on her blog about these friendships. She's doing a session at SheSpeaks and I think she needed to do a bit of research.
I want to go on record that I love my bloggy friends.
Love the photos and miss the beach.
So much fun my friend!! Glad you guys had a great time!! That cottage is such a blessing. I didn't realize that you had it such a short time.
ReplyDeleteSo.much.cake. And I will have to make a cake next week for son's bday!
Big cake-with-friends-is-the-best-cake-of-all hugs to you!! :)
Wow, that pic of us 4 girls came out really nice...that's pretty exciting considering it usually takes just us two about 50 shots to get one we like, LOL.
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of Jenn and Roger, it's really natural and very sweet.
And it cracked me up to see all that junk on your table, LOLOLOL - oh my!
Kim,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post this was! It truly shows how amazing the blogging community can be and the friends we can all meet!
The memories you all have made are priceless and brings you all that much closer!
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
It is super that you made a new friend.
ReplyDeleteI think this is my first time to your blog, feel free to stop by and say hello at my blog as well and I am going to add your blog to my list of blogs to follow...feel free to follow my blog as well.
Have a GREAT day! :)
That is SO awesome! You truly are living out loud! I also love that you ended the month with a plethora of desserts. Anything less just wouldn't have been right! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHow fun is that?
ReplyDeleteHow fun to meet other bloggers! I haven't met any yet but I'm sure it will be fun when I do.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine living in Florida without a/c. We will be heading to Orlando in about two years in order to go to Disney World, and while I love the weather, I love the a/c more, lol!
My hubby and I used to live in a cottage as newlyweds (which was anything but an oasis by the beach). Actually, it was converted from a chicken coop into a livable abode. How romantic?! bawk, bawk!
ReplyDeleteCan you say rental property? Honestly, it's all about LOCATION LOCATION and you got it going on girlfriend! You could use your profits to help supply you with chocolate til the Lord comes back!
LOL...Roger said he knows a good plumber who has multi-talents like smoking the best ribs in the south!
ReplyDeleteWe had an amazing time and can't thank you enough for opening your home and hearts to our family.
We have made friends for life and memories that will last a lifetime.
Many, many (((HUGS))) from our family to yours!
looks like you had loads of fun! how wonderful of you to be so kind and giving!
