Keeping my home singing with some romance!

I'm going to join in with my good friend Nan today in making my home sing.

(Honey, I know you always read my posts but I need you to stop, X out and step away from the computer! You can't read this post! Love you!)

Romance.
Does it seem to flee as soon as you say I do? How about after you've had kids?
I admit that it's hard keeping it going sometimes, but in a marriage, it is a necessity.
With Valentine's Day fast approaching, you will have the perfect background for a romantic night with your spouse.

Here are some of my tips to making V-Day special and inexpensive.

If you're staying home, make your bedroom a haven. Do this while he's preoccupied with work or the kids or something. Tell him he's not allowed in there until later that night.

Plan ahead: Make up a CD of your favorite slow songs. You know the ones that make you feel all gushy inside and take you back to when you would almost bust out of your skin waiting to see him again. (You're smiling right now because you know the ones!)

Set the mood: Candles do this in a big way. Set them all around your room. Scented ones would be fabulous.

The Food: If you're like me you've probably already eaten dinner with the whole family, so use this time alone for dessert. Chocolate covered strawberries are great for a time such as this!
AND they are very easy to make. Feed them to him.

Fall in love all over again!
Slow dance with him to your favorite song. Look into his eyes and remember all the reasons you fell in love with him and tell him!

Did I mention to put the kids to bed and then lock the door first?
Most of all have fun. Don't get to caught up in the details that you forget to have a good time.
Also be flexible. Who knows, he just may have something up his sleeve!

I'll leave the "details" up to you because this blog is rated G, but my point is, to do something. Nothing I mentioned here is either hard or expensive, but I guarantee you that it will make a difference!

Love you my friends!

  5. You know, I don't mean to rub this in or anything (smirk), but there is something to be said for the empty nest! woo-hoo!!! No tucking in kids for me, no locking doors (well, the front one, lol)....we were slow dancing last night...although we do have our jealous dog to fight off,...and come to think of it, we do have to shut her out, lol...and keep her away from the candles and foodie snacks...so much for empty nest, eh? :)
I love that we both love our hubbies so much and just LOVE making life romantic and sweet for them!

  6. I really need to take your advice! I love my other half but romance is not around after 7 years of marriage and 2 kids. One who sleeps in the bed with us most nights :(((
So hoping to try out some of your tips if I can just get myself in the mood!!!

  8. Hee,hee - I'm just wondering if your hubs really stopped reading at that point! :)

Very sweet ideas my friend!! My hubs does not like the "pressure" of being romantic on Valentine's Day. And I have to giggle 'cause he wouldn't like all the candles or eating chocolate strawberries and he does NOT like to dance - LOL! What he would find ever so much more romantic is having every room of the house very clean and organized at the same time. I get things clean and organized, but never all of it at the same time - LOL! Maybe I'll have to work on that for him. :)

You two are so sweet! Thanks for sharing those ideas! Big if-the-parents-use-the-lock-then-don't-even-knock hugs to you!! LOL! :) Have a great day my friend!
