Wow! You gals were amazing with your ideas and links about my pants. Not to mention your support and encouraging words! It seems my posts about clothes gets the highest comment count! LOL! I wonder why???
I know you're waiting on the edge of your seat to see what I came up with right? RIGHT?
So here's what I did.
I first checked ebay to see what pants like that are going for. The highest bid I saw was for $2.75. I'm just not going to waste my time for that little amount of money. Soooo I started checking out the links some of you left and one thing led to another and I found some really cute ideas on what to make with the pants.
First of all I can't believe I cut a pair of my jeans. But it was actually easier than the thought of just giving them away. At least I am being useful with them. And like I said in my blog post. Maybe they'll fit better now. More room in the butt! Hee! Hee!
Did you get a visual? You're welcome.
Here's the finished project of what I made. (For those of you who are in a hurry and don't want to see how I made it!)
It's a note and pen holder for the fridge!
Isn't it the cutest?
It doesn't show up real well against our black fridge so I put a white piece of paper behind it.
A couple other ideas were placemats (with the pocket on there to hold the silverware) and or Christmas stockings. I'll keep you posted on those.
Okay moving on. If you're busy you can leave now. Thank you for your time and make sure you tell me how fabulous my little crafty project was! Hee! Hee!
If you have a minute and want to see how easy this was. Stick around!
First of all I love it because it involved no sewing whatsoever!
The first thing you gotta do is cut out the pocket. Make sure you cut around the pocket and include the part that it's already sewed to.
See, you automatically have a pocket all ready to go! That'll save you a couple sewing needles right there.
Next you turn it over and measure your magnetic stripping. Use whatever you have in the terms of magnets. I just happen to have this and it worked for this project. Rip one off an old magnet if you have to but remember you need to put enough on there to hold the weight of the notepad.
Next hot glue your strips around the back of the pocket. I made 4 strips and it worked great.
I then embellished it a little bit by taking my paint pen and writing the word "notes" on there. But here's where you can get super creative. You can write "coupons" and hold your coupons in there or whatever you want.
Easy smeasy huh? Let me know if you try it.
HAVE A FABULOUS DAY!

And before I show you how I made this. Someone named Kassia posted a comment on the post last night and told me about a jacket her friend's Mom made. If you are reading this I would really like to see a picture of that if there is any way.

ReplyDeleteIf You're Crafty & You Know It Clap Your Hands!
ReplyDeleteU R a FANATIC! ( ;
Nice job. You should make a purse out of a pair too. I have seen those and they are adorable. How fun you getting your craft on. Love it.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
mimi
Very cute my friend!! Good job!
ReplyDeleteWell, it just so happens that I personally know Kassia (I think she simply HAD to stop over because of your fab guest post!)! Not only that - I personally know the owner of that jean jacket and not only that - but I know the MAKER - HA! The woman needs to start her own etsy shop, but she won't. All that to say I will get a pic for you and see where she got the idea - I think she saw it on a website maybe. She's quite the seamstress!
You are so good to make use of your old stuff. If it were me, I would keep it thinking I would do something, but never actually do it and still have the stuff taking up space. Not that I've *ahem* ever done such a thing. ;)
Big you-are-a-crafty-woman-and-I-mean-that-in-a-nice-way hugs! :) Have a super day my friend!
What a handy little eager beaver you are Kim! I'm impressed. Very cute idea.
ReplyDeleteLove you,
Debbie
That did turn out cute! It's giving me all sorts of ideas...and you know I have a closet full of size 6 jeans, LOLOL...yup, time to get scissor happy!
ReplyDeleteGood job, Bob! Even I could do that! Thanks ever so for including a project for the simple now and then. 8-}
ReplyDeleteLove ya loads, crafty chickee!
Have a JESUS-filled day! ^i^
I can't wait to see more of your inventions - that was a really good idea. Go for it girl!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteVery cute!
ReplyDeleteSee....you are So crafty....you don't need mentoring!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! What a good idea. I'm thinking about making quite a few of these with the jeans I have. I need to find a way to attach several for the girls' to keep stuff in.
ReplyDeleteThat is the cutest thing!!
ReplyDeleteIf that isn't the cutest thing!!
ReplyDeleteYou crafty thing you!
Im so glad that you found something to make. Cute!
ReplyDeleteYou're a smarty pants! hahahaha!!! I like to keep those "freebie" magnets that advertisers give out or come stuck to the phone book. They come in handy for projects like this and are FREE!
ReplyDeleteI love jean pockets!
ReplyDeleteI collect a stack and use them in a casual dinner setting. I tuck a cloth napkin and the silverware into the pocket, set it on the plate and it looks wonderful.
Pockets also perfectly fit gospel tracts. If you use a wire, twisted with beads added, it can hang on a push pin by the front door so it reminds you to give them away to whoever stops by.
We've also made little girl purses out of them.
Thanks for the new idea! I hadn't thought of that one.
That is so cute. I love it!
ReplyDeleteNow that is a cool idea! I keep having trouble keeping track of my "to buy" list, even when I get the magnetic backed ones. Off to the goodwill sack to reclaim a pair of jeans!
ReplyDeletevery cute idea...and so good of you to make it so quickly!
ReplyDeleteYEP, smarty pants truly sums it up, Donna!
ReplyDeleteMaybe, you'll get some ants in your pants as well when the temps. begin to rise again for ya?!
Oh what a cute idea! I love it! I agree with the others, make a purse out of it. Be sure and make a belt to go with your "jeans" purse, lol!
ReplyDeleteVery cool! What a great repurposing idea. Thanks for linking up!
