I wear 10% of my clothing 90% of the time!

It's sad but true. I'm coming clean.
I Kim have a very VERY boring wardrobe! There I said it. Phew!
I feel better now.
What? You want to see? Are you sure? It's pretty pitiful. There may be some serious confessions going on in the midst. Are you sure you're ready for that? Yes? Well alrighty then.

Let's start with what I do wear and why.
These shirts are what I wear 90% of the time.
They are long enough, not to tight and not boxy. Most importantly they are comfortable. And as you can see, all solid in color!
For those of you who don't know my current occupation, it is Domestic Engineer. What that means is that for 80% of the time I'm at home with the children, homeschooling and keeping my home. And I LOVE it. Where else can you go to work in shorts and flip flops all day!

I don't have a great need for jazzy, hip, trendy clothing. I don't go to business meetings or even to blog retreats, YET. LOL! (But I would so buy a new outfit if I got to go one day).

This right here is the extent of my dressy casual wear prints. Minus the third shirt, that's all casual beachware!
Are you laughing? It's okay, I am!

Here are my "holiday/date" shirts! LOL!

This stack here? All long sleeve.
I live in Florida people and I have more long sleeve shirts in my closet then short sleeve. That's just wrong and I'm going to ditch at least 50% of these bad boys.

Now I do have the classic "black dress"! In fact I have two.Oh yeah. I'm so uptown on this one.

Then I have the shirts that I haven't worn in over a year or so for the main fact that once I washed them they shrank and my only hopes to getting back in them is to loose about 15 lbs.

So they will be going bye bye sometime in the near future as well. I can't have those taunting me every time I walk in the closet!

I bet you can't wait to hear about my pant collection or see my workout clothes, huh? LOL!
I'll save that for another day. I know you'll wait with great anticipation!

Can ANYONE relate to this? To even a small degree? Someone? Anyone?

LOVE YOU MY FRIENDS!

  1. A while back I had to clean out my closet..and transfer the clothes I was going to keep out to the house on wheels. I have a lot of red and red gingam clothing. No wonder my grandson when seeing a red and white tablecloth..pointed and hollered Nana. I think I need to change my clothing color habits!!lol.
I understand the lack of needing long sleeves..South Texas..what can I say!!!

  2. Yep. I have my favorites and the rest just sit in my closet begging to be worn.

  3. I wear the same clothes all the time too! There is nothin' wrong with jeans/shorts and t-shirts, and you have to have a solid color shirt in every color!

  4. Once out shopping with 3 girlfriends I was looking at a beautiful dress - I said in a sad voice "I don't have anywhere to wear such a lovely dress" and my friend Kathie turned around and said "what is wrong with wearing it whilst vacuum cleaning - nothing wrong with looking beautiful while cleaning".

  5. Um, I want dibs on the shirts that shrunk! Because, um, when it comes to tops, we, um...wear a different size. Ya know? :) LOL

  6. I totally relate! My closet is full of t-shirts, sweatshirts, a couple jeans, and a lot of comfy yoga pants. I don't do much around here. No fancy parties to to go, and no job to dress up for. I think you have more "fancy" clothes than me.

  7. Comfort is always a priority for me so I also tend to wear the same tried and true clothes.

  8. Oh Yes, I SO relate. PS ~ I totally agree on the tee shirt thing. Once you find "the right one" might as well get em all! :) Love your blog!

  9. Not only can I relate to this in a small way, I can relate all the way. I think my problem is more I don't enjoy shopping. It seems like I can never find things that fit just perfectly, and if it does I buy many of the same thing, in different colors...just like your shirts. ;-)

  10. You always make me laugh...I need to clean out my closet as well. Sometimes I forget that I got rid of something and then go to look for it months later. Sometimes I think I look in my closet for clothes I never had, but wish I did...I have issues!
Congrats on being featured on GB!! Way to go!

  11. You are so right! For the past two weekends, I've been contemplating going through my wardrobe .... but then I distracted. I MUST!

I love your animal print stuff and your black dresses. And I love the idea of vacuuming in heels and a cocktail dress. I must try that soon.

  12. I can relate. I purged my closet last year mercilessly.

  13. I have no problem getting rid of my clothes. In fact, I make regular trips to Salvation Army about every 3-6 months. Still, having said that, my closet is still full with clothes I cannot bring myself to part with because I fear then it will be a reality that I only wear 10% of my clothes 90% of the time! At least the way it is now it LOOKS like I have a lot of clothes that I regularly wear. I'm in a big slump with my work wardrobe too - I'm wearing the same blank pants week in and week out. Anyhow, that was my long-winded answer at telling you I liked this post - made me laugh out loud!

  14. Kim,

I did this about 2 years ago and was amazed at what I actually wore versus what I kept and never wore, thinking if I tossed it out, I may need it one day. Not only does it make getting ready so much easier but my closet actually has 5 times the room as my husband. How is that for tossing things out.

    Love and Hugs ~ Kat

  16. Kim, I can totally relate. Right now, I am working on a "Butt and Gut be-gone program. In other words, I am trying to loose weight. So currently I have a huge stack of jeans in my closet just waiting patiently to fit again. Meanwhile I do have a lot of fancy work clothes that I used when I was a fancy work lady. I think that I am going to donate those to a the Christian womens job core. They can use those things when they return to the work place. Donate those clothes lady, someone can use them. Or better yet..... Try having a diva swap party. Invite some friends to bring clothes that they don't want but are in good condition, shoes, purses, etc... Then, have the ladies over for treats, and then everyone gets to go shopping. woo hoo. That would be fun. I am thinking of doing it too.

  17. I know exactly what you mean. I wear the same clothes over and over and over again. They're comfortable. It sure does make me feel like a "mom" though. KWIM?

  18. When I saw that first photo I got kind of worried about you, and was going to suggest some retail therapy AKA shopping as a cure.
But after I saw the print tops and dresses I was more happy for you.
I do go through my closet and give away clothes I don't wear, to a local charity. If you give some away you will clear a spot for some new things :)
Still, maybe you could buy a couple different style tops, maybe with a print design?
    Thanks for sharing this.

  19. I have a closet FULL of clothes, though most don't fit and most are from thrift stores - some in good condition and some not. I recently went through it all and gave a bunch away, but I need to do more. I do tend to wear some of the same items a lot - um, the ones that fit! - and others get worn once in a while.

Having a few similar items to wear makes life simpler, so I like that you do that!

Big you're-easy-to-please hugs to you! Hope you're having a great day my friend!

  20. Oh, don't remind me! Duller has been pleading with me for ages to clean out the closet. We have a pretty big closet, but only use about 20% of it, coz that's all we can get to, lol! OK, OK, this weekend, I'm going to... er... think real hard about that closet. LOL!

Hey, everybody loves a little teasin', right? I'll be posting the giveway details in about 5 hours. 8-]

    Love ya loads, stylista sistah!
    Have a JESUS-filled day! ^i^
