The East Coast Is My Home!

There is just something majestic about the coast of Maine. I was born in Maine and we lived near the east coast for quite awhile until we moved to Florida, but it wasn't until our vacation trip back up there a few years ago that I truly appreciated the power that crashes along those rocks each day.
Where we live the beach is sand and it's pretty flat. Waves roll peacefully in and out all day long (minus during a hurricane). But the waves on the coast of Maine crash violently onto those rocks day in and day out. To the point where people have underestimated their great power and have been washed off those rocks and out into that cold cold ocean.
But there is also a beauty there. One that just sand alone doesn't possess. There is safety in those rocks. Those rocks aren't budging. Not like the sandy beaches that we are used to. One hurricane and the beach we know is gone.

 Matthew 7:25-27
"And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it."

And yet we live on a barrier island. LOL! Duh! Hey we're trying to move!!  But you gotta admit it is beautiful! And it's my home......for now!
My life has been lived in these two places and I love them both and they both hold a place in my heart. I have a lot of good memories that spread up and down along the east coast.
Do you have a nature photo that you'd like to share a story or thought behind? Then head on over to My Cup 2 Yours and link it up.

Have a fabulous day my friends!

  2. Thanks for sharing your pics.

We live close to the coast of the Gulf. It is a far cry from Ohio. The Bay is not a 15 minute drive and Galveston is not 45 minutes. It is beautiful. We are going to stay in Galveston for two nights with a Gulf facing room. I can't wait. I love all the seabirds that hang around. The ship channel is 5 minutes from us.

    Have a wonderful day.

  3. I always think it's so neat how a coastline changes as you travel N&S...even from here, how it changes going further south...so pretty no matter where you are! Someday we'll go to Maine and see it for ourselves. ;)

  9. I enjoyed the coast of Maine several years ago when we went to Prince Edward Island for vacation. As nice as PEI was, I would have enjoyed spending the whole vacation in Maine!
