Random thoughts this Christmas season

I can’t believe that Christmas is in just 4 days. I admit that I’m a little disappointed on the timing of our move because it really put a damper on my thoughts being about anything but movIMG_0972ing. However we did manage to squeeze in some fun.

Friday night we had our annual Christmas party. I have to say I think it was one of our funnest yet. We have THE most incredible friends.

There was tons of fun and laughter all night long. Not to mention food! But we won’t go there now will we. OY!

We also managed to squeeze in our annual gingerbread house competition. (As most of you already know) AND just so you know, this is how mine looks right now.

In the middle of the night we heard something crash and lo and behold it was MY gingerbread house falling apart. I blame it on faulty icing! LOL!

This year I had decided to do my own tree, the way I wanted it. No kids allowed to help. It’s mine. ALL MINE! LOL!

My idea was to make most of the ornaments myself and the theme is red and white. I bought a 4 ft tree from Wal-Mart and this is how it turned out. It’s my happy tree!

What do you think?

I also had the idea to wrap some random cabinets in my kitchen with ribbon to dress them up like presents IMG_1074because it’s always hard to find ways to decorate the kitchen but everyone loved this idea. I used different colored ribbon for each cabinet I wrapped. They told me I should show you because it was a neat idea. Better late then never huh? You can always do it next year.

Also because of the move my parents were not able to come down to stay with us. This of course makes every one sad. It’s just going to feel so different without them being here. My kids adore their grandparents. I AM thankful to have friends here that we do call our family and we look forward to getting together with them for Christmas dinner. I think it’s important to have one or the other or even both nearby.

So even though there may not be as many presents under the tree this year or stuff in the stockings, what’s important remains the same and that’s that we are truly blessed to have a Savior that died for us all and who came by way of a virgin that Awesome and Holy night.

LOVE YOU MY FRIENDS!

Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:
14 “ Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!

Luke 2:8-14
