Are You a Reluctant Entertainer? Giveaway! Winner Announced!

The Random Generator has picked #21 which is Tara from Home is the Heart of the Family! Congratulations Tara!

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks to all who entered.

When my friend Sandy from Reluctant Entertainer contacted me about having a giveaway for her new book, I jumped at the chance.  I knew that my readers would love a chance to win a signed copy of her book. Plus with Mother’s Day on the way, this would make a great gift!

I had bought this book about 3 weeks ago and I love it.
I love to entertain but she touches on some things that I have never really thought about. If you are leery of entertaining, she gently takes you by the hand and leads you one chapter at a time on how you to can entertain successfully.
Here at the Table of Contents:
1. Real Entertaining for Real People
2. Joy Busters and Joy Building
3. Overcoming the Pitfalls of Perfectionism
4. Simplifying Entertaining
5. Discovering Your Inner Martha
6. Engaging the Five Senses
7. The Heart of Hospitality: Conversation
8. More Than Dinner Parties: Deeper Connections
9. From Reluctant to Gracious Living
If you’ve never met Sandy I suggest you cruise on over to her blog and check it out. You won’t be disappointed. Hospitality spills out with every visit.
But here’s the real question. Would you like to win a signed copy of her book? Hopefully you’re answer is yes.
Well here’s how you can win.
1. Leave a comment telling me your greatest entertaining fear or entertaining flop or blunder.
2. You can “like” her FB page if you so desire. It’s not required. Just come leave a separate comment telling me you did.
3. And for my faithful followers, just tell me that you follow me in a separate comment and that’s an extra entry. Just cause I love ya!
Contest will run until this Saturday, April 23 at 12:00 noon EST and is limited to the United States. I will pick a winner that day and announce it at the top of this post.
Good Luck!

  1. My greatest entertaining blunder? Hmmmm probably many years ago, before I was a coffee drinker. I knew my Uncle loved coffee so, after dinner I mustered up a little courage and brewed him a cup. Not knowing much about coffee, I used instant coffee in my coffee maker. He sweetly drank the thick muck not saying a word until a few weeks later. He told me that the coffee was strong enough to grow hair on your chest. Oiy!

  3. My greatest fear is often that my guest will turn up late and the meal I'm making will spoil! I try to make things that don't have to be served at an exact time, but it would be nice if when I say 6pm they showed up then, or 10 mins before!!!!

  9. What a lovely giveaway my friend!! I do entertain occasionally, but should do it more often. I always feel like my house isn't in good enough shape and that the food has to be a production with the menu planned out, etc.

And Denise's comment about having people come early made me laugh! I always run late trying to get all foods, settings, everything ready at the same time so I am horrified by the thought of people showing up early - LOL! I prefer people to come 15 minutes late. :)

Big I-would-love-to-win-this-book size hugs to you!! Love ya!!

  13. My greatest fear of entertaining is honestly when it gets too loud and I worry about bothering the neighbors! I like quiet :)

  14. My biggest entertaining flop would have been 2 years ago on thanksgiving when I forgot to defrost the turkey... we weren't able to eat until 7:30 that night! It was horrific! :(

  18. Thank you for this lovely little post, right before I host 25 people for Resurrection Day. I have tried to plan ahead, take long deep breaths and PRAY. Because, it is about doing it with joy, right?

I have made entertaining such a chore I wonder it any of my children will desire hospitality.

Thank you for the chance at this book, and if I am not blessed with it through you, I may have to go find one.

    Blessings...

  20. I would love to win this book. My biggest flop was a Thanksgiving in the early years a marriage there was no rolls at all. I am sure there are others bigger then this. I went thru a time I always forgot all the seasonings in the food. Hubby just would laugh it off, to this day he'll ask if I seasoned it.

  23. I'd love to entertain more, but I have this compulsive idea that the house has to be absolutely spotless - and that means a LOT of work preparing!

  24. I follow you! (And love you too!)

  25. My biggest obstacles are always remembering that it's not just the food. I love to cook so I sometimes forget to include others. People want a job! They love to help.

  26. My biggest obstacle is to remember to enjoy and not be so stressed that everything is perfect! This book looks wonderful!

  28. Several of my fears are that people will not like what I am preparing, or be allergic to something I'm making....I also fear that by the time they get there the food will be past "eating". It will have gotten past it's "best" time to eat it.

But I usually don't let this stop me, I like having people in to visit and eat.

  32. Oh stink. Looks like I missed this one. :) (That will teach me not to miss visiting for so long! Lol!

I think I could really use some tips like these. Entertaining doesn't come naturally to me. I have to really think through things. Yet, I'm working on it. I'm going to go check out your links. Thanks for posting about it. :)

    Hugs!
