A Mystery Dinner!

We’ve been going to a new church for about 4 months now and we are slowly getting to meet new people. But when I heard that they were going to be doing a Mystery Dinner there, I knew I had to be a part of it.

I’ve never participated in one before but I figured I’d just jump in with both feet and actually volunteer for a part. What a better way to meet people than to pretend your someone you’re not. LOL! The mystery is based back in the 50’s when they had the girls baseball teams. My character’s name is Peachy Cream. “She is a reluctant player and not a particularly good one as a result. She is very proud of her long beautiful nails. Her father is very rich so she doesn't have to work.”  I think it’s going to be fun playing this part because it’s so not me. It’ll be true acting. Ha! Ha!

The idea is for people to be eating dinner while we, the suspects walk around and answer any questions that they have about the mystery.

I’m pretty excited about it but then I realized I needed to memorize actual lines and I haven’t memorized actual lines since I did the skits 8 years ago for VBS.  I’m getting old and my brain has a hard time concentrating on such things. But I’m sure I’ll be fine. It’ll be fun.

Have you ever done a mystery dinner before and can you offer me any tips? Like where do I find an old baseball uniform? LOL! Preferable pink. Ha! Ha!

Have a fabulous day my friends!

  4. That sounds like so much fun! I'm going to have to suggest this to the ladies at my church!
We have a costume shop here in town that rents..do you have anything like that?

  5. We have hosted a couple of these and they are so much fun! If you have a local baseball team, you might call and ask to borrow an old jersey or better yet, buy a cheap pink tshirt and add a baseball team logo (real or made up) to wear. Since your character likes to glam things up you could bedazzle the logo. And fake press on nails of course since that fits the character.

  8. You could sew one. Get the idea from that movie about girls in baseball. I can't remember the name of it. Or at least you could sew one of the skirts maybe. Sounds like a neat time! Was that 50's speak?

  9. I've been going to a new church since February no one has ever spoken to me. Ever. I like the church. Wish they had fun stuff like this to do. How cool.

  10. Who could forget Geena Davis, Rosie O'Donnell, and Madonna in "A League of Their Own"??! You know, I actually kinda liked that movie!

This sounds like so much fun ~ and I agree, you will HAVE to post pictures and tell us all about it! (because I've never been involved in something like this either)

  11. Oh, fun!!!!! Wish I could watch you!

I have gone to a Mystery Dinner before and been a character and it was fun (I was the killer, lol!). But mine was on a smaller scale of people.

  12. Have never done one. I was asked to play a part in one last year, but the timing didn't work out - I think they wanted me to be a high-society type, which would have been fun! Can't wait to hear all about it and I'm sure you'll get creative and come up with a fabulous costume!

Big you-need-to-video-yourself-doing-it-so-we-can-all-experience-it size hugs to you!! Have a great week my friend - I'm heading on my trip! Love ya!!

  13. That sounds like SO much fun. No, I've never done one, never even heard of it before. I'll be looking foward to hearing all about it...and to seeing your costume.

And if anyone from your church reads your blog, then they are going to know you right away.

    Hugs,
    Patti

  14. Omg!! YES! I have participated in one and let me just tell you....THEY ARE A BLAST!!! Oh gosh, I just get excited thinking about it :) I don't recall having to memorize lines though but I'm sure you will have them down in no time at all!

Have you checked out goodwill or a party rental place or any consignment stores! Surely you will find something and maybe you might just have to dye it pink if you find a regular one!???

I'm sure you will but I have to say...please share it all with us when you have this fun evening okiedokie!

    HUGS
