I'm really starting to dislike that word. But I admit, every once in awhile I will have a little bit of niche envy. You know how "they" say that you should find your niche when starting a blog? You would think after 4 years of blogging I'd have found mine by now. Here nichey nichy nichee? LOL!
When I visit the decorating blogs with all the inspiring ideas and makeovers, I all of a sudden want that niche and will usually find SOMETHING to go make over.
Then sometimes when I stumble upon the really neat Homeschool blogs that has it all together and has really cool ideas and lays them out for all to see, it makes me want to go outside, take a picture of a lizard, have the kids put it in a natural journal and then tell you all about it. (Don't worry you non homeschoolers I actually started a homeschool blog and sadly neglect it, for that kind of stuff.)
And don't even get me started with the organizing blogs. HAVE MERCY! I immediately want to run to the store and buy all sorts of neat storage bins and find some wacky and unique ways to use them and then of course share the inspiring ideas with you.
And what about the craft blogs? All those nifty crafts made by people who obviously have more time in a day then I do to create them all and then post instructions and really cool photos in great detail about how to make them.
They are all good niches. I know this because I myself love going back to them time and time again.
They inspire me and make me want to be better at things. And that's not a bad thing. Thank goodness for people who found their niches. Ha! Ha!
But for some reason I'm not thinking that's why you all come to THIS blog.
And please don't ever ask yourself why you come. LOL!
One thing that I can honestly say is that I've always been real on my blog.
It is what it is. Now if I could just figure out what IT is! Hee! Hee!
But if for some reason I start feeling like I lack in the niche department, I'll get a comment from one of you telling me that I brought a smile to your face.
Then the fact that at one time I told you about my son's booger question all of a sudden doesn't seem like a stupid thing to have done! LOL!
Thank you all for making my blog such a fun thing for me to do.
Have a FABULOUS day!
Oh by the way my friend Lisa is doing a little series for encouraging bloggers. You can read the first installment here. It's really good if you're in a slump or need some encouragement.

I often wonder what my Niche is......
ReplyDeleteI finally quit thinking about it and let whatever happens on my blog just happen.
Maybe your niche is putting a smile on someone's face. That's pretty priceless to me.
Leave it at "It is what it is." It's something different to all who visit! I love your blog the way it is! I may not comment all the time but I do visit and enjoy!

Oh Kim....
ReplyDeleteWhat would I do without my Homesteaders Heart?
I would have laughed less on some days
My smile would not be as big
I certainly would not be as inspired to ya know ~ have a bite of .... chocolate & a hot cup of coffee
but more than that my heart would not be as full with the friendship you have given, the prayers you have said, and well .... niche or no niche.... blogging is just better with you!
Love the encouragement idea!!
I feel that way about Pioneer Woman! I can't believe she has her own show on Food Network!!
ReplyDeleteI don't fit into any of those niches either; and people still read me. I guess we're in the "Just run on and on about what we feel like at any given time" niche!
ReplyDelete(PS - I like your nichelessness!)
Actually, you DO have a niche. On my sidebar, where I have your blog button, I call you, "Kim's always-laughing blog." You are a happy, smiling blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to this series. It meets me where I am right now. As my blog has taken on the sharing of some of my genealogy finds, I feel that I don't fit anywhere...not entirely genealogy, but not teacups and home decor anymore. And my readership has taken a nosedive. I've considered quitting blogging.
Anyhow, my friend, I love ya, and am SO glad that this world of blogging brought us together.
Hugs,
Patti
You inspired me to make a blog and you ALWAYS make people laugh;-) You are an inspirational comedian who shares the word of God in the best way I've ever seen. Love you my friend!
ReplyDeleteKim, I don't know what word to use to describe your niche, but I definitely enjoy coming to visit you here. :) You bring a smile to my face and often put into words what is in my head. Thanks for just being you. Many blessings!
ReplyDeleteThis post cracked me up!! That's why we keep coming back!
ReplyDeleteAnd, thank you for the great comment you left on my blog this morning! IT's good to know I'm not alone.
Have a great day!
You bless my socks off! If I have a moment in my hectic life - then is one of my top spots I hit!
ReplyDeleteYou have a homeschooler's blog? Yeah, I'm out of touch...
Blessings,
lana
Good to know I'm not alone with this whole niche-less-ness problem!! And yet, the day wouldn't be quite the say without popping by to see what craziness is going on... Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteI liked your line: "It is what is it is!" That's me after three years of blogging. Who knew?????
ReplyDeleteYou HAVE a niche. It's a mishmash of everything funny, witty, zany, organizational, creative and everything in between. Mishmash is your niche. Embrace it! It works well for you!
ReplyDeleteI love visitng your blog. Makes me smile and feel loved and welcomed. Not sure what my niche is…encouraing woman in the Word of God I suppose? Don't change a thing. I love you just the way you are!
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny! I think your Niche is that your are just awesome and do cool things. Your the lady that does "cool things" haha. I'm always so impressed with the things you come up with and even the little things I can actually do like the junk drawer organizing, I loved it and my hubby was so impressed to open the junk drawer and be able to find something. Really so simple but I would have never thought of it myself. Also the paper pumkin things, my kids loved that. Thanks
ReplyDeleteThanks for keeping it real!! :)
ReplyDeleteYou hold the "awesomefullll" nitch in my book. I don't get to visit blogs often, but when I do, yours is one of the very 1st. Just love your joyful heart!
ReplyDeleteMy friend - if you had just one niche, it could get boring, right?! A long time ago I called my blog a "variety show" blog - maybe that's our niche - LOL! But you do always bring a smile (OK - maybe not with the spider pic, I was not smiling then - HA!) and that's such a blessing to so many people! Never forget that!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the shout-out for my little series. I'm no expert as you know, but I do pray that my words will encourage somebody who's feeling down about their blog.
Big nicheless-is-the-new-black-or-maybe-it's-brown-or-grey size hugs to you!! Love ya my nicheless friend!!! :)
I could so relate to this Kim. I have so many interests that at my age (over 40ish something or more) I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up. (I just read the title to your previous post "Getting Old Stinks". LOL. How timely.)
ReplyDeleteAs I was saying, God gave some of us a plethora of interests. You get to enjoy it all. But truly you have one of the very best niches of all. You make people laugh. Yes that is your niche. That is what your visitors are confident they will find when they come here. I wish I had the ability to make people laugh like that. Hang on to it. It's goooood! :)
