Why I Love Going to Garage Sales!

Garage sales are hit or miss. But one of the perks of living in Florida is that people garage sale all year long.

Sometimes we go out and all we see is junk but there are other times that we go out and totally score! Last weekend was such an occasion.

We only went to 3 or 4 garage sales but they were doosies, doosy’s, doosi’s? They were really good!

Here’s some of the stuff that we bought.

1. 2 fire extinguishers

2. a whole big bag full of assorted ribbon.

3. a pink heart bank for my daughter

4. a hoe

5. garden edging

6. brand new school supplies

7. 4 small picture framesIMG_2769

8. a bag full of thread

9. about a gazillion magnets (going to use for crafting)

10. a roll of fabric

11. 2 shirts for my daughter

12. chicken wire

GRAND TOTAL? $16.50. Yup. You heard me. $16.50. But wait, there’s more!

My hubby scored a load full of lumber for only $20.00.

So although you never know what you’re going to come across, I believe they are worth the time and effort for those days when you come across some really great deals. We save a lot of money going to garage sales.

Do you go to garage sales? What are some of your best deals?

Have a FABULOUS day my friends.

Oh by the way my daughter is having an awesome giveaway on her blog to celebrate her upcoming 18th birthday. Go check it out here!

  1. I love a good score at garage sales. It's true what they say about one man's junk is another man's treasure!

  2. I LOVE garage sales. Most people here call them yard sales, but it's been ingrained in me for years to call them garage sales.

Unfortunately, where I (currently) live, the garage sale season is fairly short...mid-May through September, though sometimes people try having them in April and October. It's usually too cold then, so I don't go to those ones.

I recently got a really great vintage-looking comb, brush, and mirror set for $2. It was brand new, but it had that vintage silver look to it.

Wow, Kelsey's going to be 18? That is hard to believe. Wasn't she just 14 last week?

    Have a great day.

    Love ya,
    Patti

  5. I am not in my right mind. I was reading your list and giggled when I got to "a hoe," It's really not that funny...but it is at the same time! Oiy! Laughing beats crying any day. Thanks for a little giggle today.

  6. I love garage sales and thrift stores! When I visited my Mom in Montana and my son in North Dakota this summer I had one condition - one day for "junkin'", which is what we call second hand shopping.

    I'm a little jealous of the chicken wire...what a find. :)

  8. Good job my friend! I really need to go to garage sales here - there are lots. But we just can't seem to get out that early - the flea market and e-bay peeps hit them all with their big trucks by 7am and take the best stuff, so you gotta be early for the great finds. And I have a tendency to pick up things I don't really need - and I need less stuff, not more - LOL!

Big wasn't-sure-if-this-was-really-your-garage-sale-haul-because-I-don't-see-a-bunch-of-Christmas-items size hugs to you!! LOL! :) Love ya my friend!

  9. You did find some great stuff! My husband and I used to go to Estate sales all the time and would spend hours going through their stuff! It was always so interesting.
