Gingerbread House Competition 2011: You Vote!

We interrupt Friday Funnies to bring you this years annual Gingerbread House Competition. A lot of you have been here through the years and have seen the fun that we have doing this every year. This year was no different. Our BFF’s joined us again and we had lots of fun. I’ll post about the whole “experience” at a later date. This post is all about voting.

I can’t go into any detail about any of the entries because I don’t want to give anything away. So I’ll let the gingerbread houses speak for themselves.

Feel free to click on the pictures to enlarge them.

Starting in no particular order we have:

HOUSE # 1: The Sugar Lodge

HOUSE # 2: The Holly Jolly

Well there you have it. Just leave your vote for your favorite in the comment section and remember we do this for fun so no feelings will be hurt.

I’ll keep this post up until Monday and reveal the “winner”. Then I’ll post about the night and all it’s craziness!

Have a lovely day my friends!

  1. It's between "Holly Jolly" and "Sugar Rush Inn" for me! (And if you're lookin' for a tie-breaker, I think Sugar Rush's name takes it!)

Looks like all y'all had a really fun evening! :)

  13. Goodness, gracious! I have to take time out of my schedule to vote and I sure appreciate you letting me know that you had the competition underway, LOL. I see some GREAT OCD tendencies this year! And the non-symetrical roof of #3 Candy House is compelling in a anti-OCD rebellious fashion (and it indicates that the right side of the house has a southern exposure because of the melting, haha). It is really a tough pick this year. But I'm going to go with #5 Peppermint Ridge. The swinging front gate, begging you to come inside, was an especially thoughtful touch. You guys are so creative! Bravo to all of you!!!

  16. I'm voting for all 5!!!! They're all fabulous, so I can't choose between them.

Does each participant name his/her own creation? Or did you do the naming yourself?

I think this is a fabulous tradition you have in your family. I hope you keep it up for decades...and that you even do it with your grandchildren!!

    Love,
    Patti

  19. This is getting harder every year!! They are all fabulous! Love the wooden roof on #1 - I am a cabin girl after all! :) #2 is just me - I adore the roof and the clean simplicity. #3 has style and is making me drool with all that candy! #4 is swirly red & white love, but I would be tempted to eat every other red candy off the roof in hopes that nobody would realize it if I did it evenly - LOL! #5 is so inviting - adorable front yard!

So my final vote goes to #2 - I just can't get away from it! And my kiddo also votes for #2!

Big it's-a-good-thing-you-don't-invite-me-'cause-I'd-keep-eating-the-candies-and-nobody-would-have-enough-left-to-decorate size hugs to you!!! Love you friend!! And hugs to your super-creative family too! :)
