A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Proverbs 17:22

Hello? Are you still there?

Hello Everybody. How are you? As you know it’s been over a month since I last wrote. I’ve been using this time away to think about the direction I wanted to go with my blog and/or whether or not I was even going to come back.

Here’s what I know so far.

I haven’t really missed it much. I’ve stayed pretty active on my FB page so it’s given me that little outlet that I love.

Although I haven’t missed it too much, I haven’t felt the need to give it up completely. Your kind words on my last post really got me to thinking. There are a lot of you who are faithful readers but just don’t comment. I need to realize that there are actually people that are interested in what I have to say, even thought I may not see the evidence, aka comments.

Soooo…I came up with an idea and I want your opinion.

To have some sort of “order” on my blog I thought I would designate a certain day of the week for specific things to blog about. That way it kind of organizes my thoughts. I am a wearer of many hats and this way I can blog about each of them each week.  AND because I suffer from a  little OCD, they had to start and end with the same letter. Yup.

Here’s what I have so far.

Monday Musings: I would blog about what’s going on around the homestead. Chicken coops, projects, homekeeping etc.

Tummy Tempting Tuesday: This would be about all things kitchen/eating. If it happens in the kitchen, it’ll show up here.

Whimsical Wednesday: This is when I’d share the “special” moments in life that might bring you a giggle or two.

Thursday Sunthin’ Sunthin’: Honestly, I got nothing for Thursday. LOL!

Family Thoughts on Friday: Here I would blog about some of our family happenings.

So what do you think? Do you like the order or do you think I should continue to shoot from the hip like I’ve been doing for the last 5 years?

Tell me your thoughts!

OXOX,

Kim

  1. Oh look I'm the first one to comment. :o

I pop in and read from time to time but don't always comment. I'm just lazy like that. I do it on fb too. ;) I have always loved reading your blog no matter what you write. I like the shoot from the hip style but since I'm not on a regular schedule, it will feel like that anyway when I pop in. :D

  2. I like visiting with you here, so go ahead and post as you wish. Your list of topics is fine, or just go ahead at random. My blog doesn't have a structure for posts, about once a week, when the spirit moves me!

  3. I personally like that idea! I know that some of the news programs I watch do the same thing. That is, they have certain things on certain days, and I've come to look forward to each.

I've even thought that I should do that with my blog. But obviously, it takes time to think up what you want to do on each day.

Some of the old memes could be a starting point. Even if there aren't any parties anymore. At least it would give a direction for the day.

So anyway, there you have my thoughts. I like the idea.

Shoot! I might even join you! Lol!

  5. Hello my friend - so lovely to see you pop up in my reader - woo hoo!!!!! I love your topic ideas! Just don't let them beat you up if you feel like you don't have something for the "right" day sometime in the future. In fact, you may just want to leave Thursday open to give yourself a break. You know I like the Monday Musings! :) And I've been posting my recipes for Tuesdays because it's the easiest for getting linked up to food parties all week. Sounds fabulous!!

Big whether-it's-Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday-or-Friday-it's-all-about-the-hugs-anyway size HUGS to you!!!! LOL! Love you friend - nice to "see" you! :)

  6. Hello, I am one of the readers who doesn't leave comments very often. I love reading what you write. I stay at home, we have no children and getting older, to me it is a way of staying in touch with old & new ideas. Thank you for being here. I like your idea of blogging, maybe it will give you a chance to look at things with a different view. Take care.

  7. Hello! I love your blog and try to comment as often as possible. I love the idea of having a schedule. I am thinking about doing it on my blog. It certainly helps keeps the thought process in order. I agree that you shouldn't allow the schedule to dictate what you feel you want to write about though. I know you blog almost every day, but how about leaving a couple of days "open" so that you can blog into what ever category you feel led? Just my 2 cents!

  8. Remember blogging is not just about the comments but something you should do for you! If you like it why stop?

I understand though, cuz' I was all caught up on whether or not I had comments and would get all pouty (not sayin' you do that I'm just talkin' about me here) if I didn't get many comments or none at all.

My family members in other states often read and do not comment so that gives me another reason to keep going.

If you enjoy it, do it! And if you think you can keep up to your self appointed schedule, then I say good luck! :)

  9. I think it's important to look at WHY we blog....I have found myself blogging because it's one way to get affirmation from others and makes me feel...well, like I have something to say that might be of interest to someone else. But I know that shouldn't be my reason for blogging...
I mean...what's wrong with just having a blog to keep a record of your day-to-day happenings?? a bit like a diary...

    I'm a people person and what people think of me is revelant and important...but it can also led me into a dependency in needing constant affirmation which is not healthy ... who we are should be based on who were are in Christ NOT on what others think of us...or whether they like what we write on our blogs....Yes? So I understand where you are coming from...but don't change your blog style to suit others....or because you believe it'll make it more interesting to read/comment on, Kim...do it because that's what works for YOU. {{hugs}}

    Just My Thoughts...

  10. I think you should do whatever feels best to you. Sometimes the structure of knowing what to write about on certain days is a helpful aid, but it could be pressure too.

I had more comments when I participated in a few weekly memes but I felt guilty if I didn't visit everyone who participated, especially those who posted comments to me, so I stopped. Some days there just isn't enough time to do it all.

  11. Kim!! I'm recently back to my own blog so taking a moment to catch up with you! I've always enjoyed reading your blog and whatever format you decide to pursue, I'll be along for the ride. :) I also didn't realize you were on FB again?? Last I knew you had left it and were doing the Google+ thing (I tried that but didn't last long).
Hope all is well in your world!

    Maria

  14. I too, am someone who reads, but I usually have two little ones climbing on and around me, so I don't get to comment often! I hope you'll keep blogging, I think your weekly order of posts would be a great idea! Hope you're doing well!
