Book Review- Joey Green's Incredible Country Store

Joey Green's Incredible Country Store
Potions, Notions,
and
Elixirs of the Past
and How to Make Them Today

I've just started reading this book and I love it. I picked it up at JoAnne Fabrics of all places. As I'm reading it I'm thinking that it's reminding me of something and then I remember a show we used to watch back when we had cable called "Unwrapped." The show would take you behind the scenes of candies and other treats and give you the history of it and how it's made. Well this book does much the same but way more.
Here are the contents:
1. The Apothecary- Elixirs, Remedies, and Tonics
2.The Candy Counter- Sweets, Treats, and Old-Time Favorites
3. Toys, Games, and Brainteasers
4. Gadgets and Gizmos-Old Fashioned Ingenuity and Insanity
5. Home and Hearth- Candles, Potpourri and Crafts
6. The Corner Barbershop- Soaps, Perfumes, and Close Shaves
7. Kitchen and Pantry-Cooking, Cleaning, and Kooky Concoctions
8. Apparel and Footwear- Keeping your pants up and your feet warm
9.Sources- Where to get everything.

As you can see it has a little bit of everything. If you love nostalgia you will love this book. It even gives you recipes to make some of your favorite candies etc. If you click on the book above, I've linked it to the page on Amazon that you can take a peek inside. I'm not even finished with this book yet but had to mention it because I'm having so much fun with it. Let me know what you think. Are you a sucker for old timey things too?
Blessings,

  1. "keeping your pants up and your feet warm??" That cracks me up when I think about those kids that walk around w/ their pants hanging way too far down. Is there a recipe for making clove gum? I use to love that stuff. Blessings to you my friend.
