This weeks tackle is a dress that I got done sewing. I'm not the best seamstress believe me and for me to actually "finish" this was a huge thing. My best friend (who can sew in her sleep) helped me put in the zipper(when I say helped I mean she did it and I watched) since I had never done that and it probably wouldn't have ended up looking like a dress when I was done. She also fixed a couple of my seams. But I did end up finishing it without having to call her. I am awaiting her final inspection lol! But here it is anyway. I will post my other sewing expeditions maybe in another blog. Trust me there aren't a lot. Please excuse the older looking woman wearing the dress, she just happened to fit in it and was willing to model LOL! Okay okay it's me, I confess. Why do things always look better not on lol. For some reason I always think I am thinner than that until a picture is taken and then I make every excuse in the book of why I look like that lol. I'll save that for confession Wednesday.Ha ha! Okay sorry here is the dress.Don't you love the flip flops to go with it? I might actually wear this out in public. The last one I made I wouldn't wear it in the dark. I'm kind of afraid though because I made it and for some reason I have this fear of it falling apart at a restaurant or something lol.
Well I'm off to see some of your tackles.
Blessings,
KIM!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so incredulous of your sewing capabilities! I cant even thread a needle! I have always wanted to learn, but never had the opportunity yet! You have inspired me! I also want to learn how to cross-stick and crochet! Your dress is so adorable and I would TOTALLY wear it! :)
I want to see more sewing!
Don't you love sewing? How great you have a friend to help otherwise you;d be frustrated.
ReplyDeleteTurned out very nice. I used to sew daily. Whenever I finish a project I'd hang in where I could look at it all day. Its such an accomplished feeling.
Great job!!!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. I am still trying to
ReplyDeleteteach myself to sew. Can't wait till I am able to make clothes. Even something simple.
Oh, I am so jealous. You appear to have done a fabulous job. The color is beautiful on you as well. I have never sewn anything so I really do admire people that can do that task. Reading directions is not one of my strong suits so cutting a pattern and following it....just not my thing. You need to wear that out in public with head held high. And I do love the flip flops with it. Congratulations on a job well done!
ReplyDeleteLovely! It's been a long time since I've made anything for me in the sewing room! (or set in a zipper for that matter)
ReplyDeleteGreat tackle!
The Frugal Momma
What a great dress! You look fabulous (and you don't look old) get real!!
ReplyDeleteI have little to no sewing genes. My husband sews. LOL
The dress looks great. I have made now 3 dress for my 3 year old daughter. The first one was not that good and putting in the zipper was challenging and did not look so well, but hopefully I learned in the process. It is nice that you have a friend who could help.
ReplyDeleteRenee
I would definitely wear that cute little number out in public - it's great! I envy your sewing skills! I seem to break out in a cold sweat at just sewing on a button!
ReplyDeleteWell done you! And yes, flip flops are the only way to go [even though mine have just broken]
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should find some glue as well as the sewing machine!
Cheers
I love the dress! What a great tackle! It looks great.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! It has been so many years since I have sewn anything; I would need to learn all over again.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute dress! I sure wish that I could get the initiative to sew. My mother taught me some about 12 years ago, but I haven't done much since then.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great, and you look wonderfully thin to me!! I know what you mean about sewing friends. My mom is a great seamstress and when I ask her to help, she just takes over, which isn't alway a bad thing!! :)
ReplyDeleteKimmy, the dress is lovely and so is the "wearer". You could have done the zipper, I have confidence in you, so next time, you will do it and I will watch, lol. The seams will NOT fall out, you did a great job. I'm working on one right now, so when I'm done, let's go to lunch in our new dresses, lol. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I wish I could do that!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim!
ReplyDeleteNutraSystem is going good! I really eat the breakfast and lunch. Dinner we all eat together and I try hard to fit in an appropriate portion for me.
(Or I will eat a dinner from NS)
Lost 20 pounds in 6 weeks, and feel great!
Thanks for visiting!
Do you think I could hot glue one just like it? LOL You did a fabulous job! Super-model pose time!
ReplyDeleteI finally blogged about my date last night. I wore my hair down. You are such a blast. Thanks for asking. Blessings to you my super fabulous seamstress friend!
It's beautiful!! I think you did a great job. The one dress I have managed to sew, I definitely don't wear in public...and not in the privacy of my own home either. And another thing, at least you are thin enough to wear sleeveless. I pretty much have abandoned going sleeveless. The ol' arms ain't what they used to be!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day,
Patti
Wow, that is a super cute dress! Oh I wish I could sew my own clothes!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by my blog today! :)

ReplyDeleteGod bless-

That's awesome! I sew all the time, but I have never been good at sewing clothing. I admire those who can.
ReplyDeleteGreat tackle!
Wow, that's such a cute, fun looking dress. You did a great job!
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny. The dress looks great. You better wear it!
ReplyDeleteThat looks great! You have done a wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteAMAZING! The flip flops are perfect. If I made something like that, I'd wear it everyday. You look great.
ReplyDeleteThe dress is lovely! And YOU are lovely in it! Three cheers for your success!
ReplyDeleteI love it. What is the pattern. I think the same way. But you look thinner then me. Just had myself tested EDS not good. Not dieing at least. But dieting a bit.
ReplyDeleteI am planning on sewing up some skirts this afternoon.
I wish my m/i/l was closer to us. She is an awesome sewer.
