Tackle It Tuesday

This weeks tackle is a dress that I got done sewing. I'm not the best seamstress believe me and for me to actually "finish" this was a huge thing. My best friend (who can sew in her sleep) helped me put in the zipper(when I say helped I mean she did it and I watched) since I had never done that and it probably wouldn't have ended up looking like a dress when I was done. She also fixed a couple of my seams. But I did end up finishing it without having to call her. I am awaiting her final inspection lol! But here it is anyway. I will post my other sewing expeditions maybe in another blog. Trust me there aren't a lot. Please excuse the older looking woman wearing the dress, she just happened to fit in it and was willing to model LOL! Okay okay it's me, I confess. Why do things always look better not on lol. For some reason I always think I am thinner than that until a picture is taken and then I make every excuse in the book of why I look like that lol. I'll save that for confession Wednesday.Ha ha! Okay sorry here is the dress.Don't you love the flip flops to go with it? I might actually wear this out in public. The last one I made I wouldn't wear it in the dark. I'm kind of afraid though because I made it and for some reason I have this fear of it falling apart at a restaurant or something lol.
Well I'm off to see some of your tackles.
Blessings,

  1. KIM!!!

I am so incredulous of your sewing capabilities! I cant even thread a needle! I have always wanted to learn, but never had the opportunity yet! You have inspired me! I also want to learn how to cross-stick and crochet! Your dress is so adorable and I would TOTALLY wear it! :)
I want to see more sewing!

  2. Don't you love sewing? How great you have a friend to help otherwise you;d be frustrated.

Turned out very nice. I used to sew daily. Whenever I finish a project I'd hang in where I could look at it all day. Its such an accomplished feeling.

  3. Very pretty. I am still trying to
teach myself to sew. Can't wait till I am able to make clothes. Even something simple.

  4. Oh, I am so jealous. You appear to have done a fabulous job. The color is beautiful on you as well. I have never sewn anything so I really do admire people that can do that task. Reading directions is not one of my strong suits so cutting a pattern and following it....just not my thing. You need to wear that out in public with head held high. And I do love the flip flops with it. Congratulations on a job well done!

  5. Lovely! It's been a long time since I've made anything for me in the sewing room! (or set in a zipper for that matter)

    Great tackle!

  7. The dress looks great. I have made now 3 dress for my 3 year old daughter. The first one was not that good and putting in the zipper was challenging and did not look so well, but hopefully I learned in the process. It is nice that you have a friend who could help.

  8. I would definitely wear that cute little number out in public - it's great! I envy your sewing skills! I seem to break out in a cold sweat at just sewing on a button!

  9. Well done you! And yes, flip flops are the only way to go [even though mine have just broken]

Maybe I should find some glue as well as the sewing machine!
    Cheers

  12. What a cute dress! I sure wish that I could get the initiative to sew. My mother taught me some about 12 years ago, but I haven't done much since then.

  13. It looks great, and you look wonderfully thin to me!! I know what you mean about sewing friends. My mom is a great seamstress and when I ask her to help, she just takes over, which isn't alway a bad thing!! :)

  14. Kimmy, the dress is lovely and so is the "wearer". You could have done the zipper, I have confidence in you, so next time, you will do it and I will watch, lol. The seams will NOT fall out, you did a great job. I'm working on one right now, so when I'm done, let's go to lunch in our new dresses, lol. :)

  15. Hi Kim!

NutraSystem is going good! I really eat the breakfast and lunch. Dinner we all eat together and I try hard to fit in an appropriate portion for me.
(Or I will eat a dinner from NS)
Lost 20 pounds in 6 weeks, and feel great!
    Thanks for visiting!

  17. It's beautiful!! I think you did a great job. The one dress I have managed to sew, I definitely don't wear in public...and not in the privacy of my own home either. And another thing, at least you are thin enough to wear sleeveless. I pretty much have abandoned going sleeveless. The ol' arms ain't what they used to be!!

    Have a great day,
    Patti

  26. I love it. What is the pattern. I think the same way. But you look thinner then me. Just had myself tested EDS not good. Not dieing at least. But dieting a bit.
I am planning on sewing up some skirts this afternoon.
I wish my m/i/l was closer to us. She is an awesome sewer.
