Works For Me Wednesday-Kitchen Gadget

For this rendition of Works for Me Wednesday I thought I would bring out one of my favorite gadgets. It's the hand blender. You may have gotten one as a wedding gift and never knew what to do with it. Well this thing is very versatile.
You can puree soup right in the pan it's cooking in.
You can make hummus.
Tomato sauce
Smoothies
Baby Food
Scramble eggs (before you cook them)
The last thing I used it for was to puree my bean and rice mixture for burritos. Not the whole thing but enough to leave some texture but yet blend it a little. It works so good and the best part is is that it's so easy to clean.
Mine also comes with the chopper attachment which is handy.

I have to tell you that this thing is such a time saver. If you are making your own baby food this thing would be great!

Blessings my friends.

  1. I love my stick blender. Mine has a chopping attatchment that I use more than the blendy bit, but I do love using the blender for making soups! I've never tried it to make scrambled eggs, I'm going to test that out =)

  2. I don't have one of those gizmos. It sure seems to come in handy for you. Perhaps I'll watch for a good sale on one.

Thanks for the prayers. Nothing quiet gets to us like our kids and their problems.

  3. Ya know, I have one of these things too - It's got to be over twenty years old. I never use it. Just sits there, but now you make me want to go blow the dust off of it and actually put it to good use!! Hmmm...

  5. Just stopping by to say hi! We bought my mom one of those many years ago and she sold it in her garage sale a few years later. She must not have liked it as much as you do. I wasn't sure where you were going w/ the bean thing. Bean juice? I was thinking pureed beans, this early, before my coffee? Ewwww! I kept reading and I'm glad that I did. You are such a blast! Blessings to you.

  12. We have one and I like it too. I make malts with mine and is a lot quicker and easier than getting out the big blender and then cleaning it all up afterwards. So yes I do like mine. I don't use mine for as many things as you do, but now I just might have to...
Gotta keep up with the "Jones" you know.

  14. I have an attachment that goes on my hand mixer like that. I love to use it for soup and not have to transfer anything to the blender.

    Thanks for sharing!

  15. I've always thought these look like such handy little gadgets, how do you clean them? I imagine they would get pretty clean just "mixing" soapy water, but can you get in and really clean out the blades?

    Thanks!
    Steph

  16. Yep, we actually got a couple of them for wedding gifts. We kept them both. We use ours mainly for milkshakes. I think I'll try to puree the beans & rice for burrito mixture next time with our spare with. THANKS for the idea.

  17. I had one of these a LONG time ago. I do remember using it a lot. Though mine was very plasticy and I think eventually broke.
I'll have to add this to my Goodwill store and yard sale seeking list.
    Have a great day!
