I'm calling it Seasonal OCD!

Yes, I've given it a name! I am self diagnosing my problem.
On average I'm a pretty laid back kind of gal. I'm sure you can sense that if you've read my blog for any amount of time, but for some reason this time of year I get a little nutty!
First the Christmas Tree incident and now we are embarking upon the Gingerbread House Decorating Competition. It hasn't always been a "competition". In fact nobody else even considers it a competition but me. LOL. It started about 5 years ago, an innocent, wonderful thing that my husband used to do with my daughter. They would get a gingerbread making kit and then decorate it together. Slowly I would find myself looming over them, giving direction and unwanted advice. Laughing and pointing fingers!!! (Okay well maybe I didn't go that far!) Then it dawned on me. Next year I'll get my OWN gingerbread making kit. No wait! I'll even MAKE the gingerbread from scratch. (I've since gotten over that part of my OCD ever since I accidentally cut the door opening in the roof of the house. So I now buy them again).
Today is that day! The day we decorate the houses. Everyone gets a house to decorate all by their lonesome. If I could lock myself in my office with my gingerbread house, the candy, the icing and my Christmas music, I would. But Alas, that would be weird, so I'm not!
So probably Monday I will have you feed my OCD by voting on your favorite house. They will be anonymous and you will have no idea who's is who's, just to keep it fair. (I'm weird but I'm not a cheater! LOL!)
So come back Monday to see what went down today. There will be lots of pictures I'm sure.

I'm sending great BIG HUGS to you all today!!!!

  1. You really have a way of making me laugh. Every sentence is funny. No wait! That's just me. hahaha! I can hardly wait for the pictures. I'll surely be one of the judges.

Anyway, the picture (Psalm 96:12) made me think of Narnia!

  2. Too funny. I must have seasonal OCD too. I always start directing the children while they decorate Christmas cookies. I'll definately drop by to vote on Monday.

  3. You just crack me up. I can't wait to see the pictures! And I can't wait to see you guys!

    Happy Saturday! Hugs to you!

  4. Love it, Kim!!! Do you and Debra get to see each other? No FAIR!!!

Would you still be my friend if I told you that I don't have my Christmas tree up yet? No decorations...still in the garage. Yup. If that freaks you out and you want to know why, email me. I really do have an excuse! ;D

  5. You got me cracking up when you said that nobody considers it a competition but you!!!! Hahahahaha!!

Can't wait to see the houses!! Have fun!

  6. Something for you at my place! Hugs, sweet friend!

  7. You totally crack me up! Where in the world do ya'll get the energy to do all this? I'm too lazy. I'm OCD and lazy! HA! What a combo, huh?

I can't wait to see all your gingerbread houses! And I'm so relieved to know that you're not a cheater. (tee hee)

  8. Very funny! Sounds like a lot of fun and a great tradition to have.

I can't wait to see the pics!!

  9. What fun!! :D LOL! I can't wait to see pics! We did a house last year, but this year with all that is going on and traveling we won't get to do ours. :(

  10. I am laughing, because I so see this in you....the competition, the OCD, yes, that is you my dear friend. I CAN'T WAIT for the gingerbread house vote..that is going to be so fun. Except it will make the people in your house feel bad if they don't win...I don't know if I like that now or not. But I still can't wait to see them.

ps, thank you for the card, it is beautiful and I LOVE it! hugs!

I really appreciate the time you take to leave a comment. Thank you!
