OCD meets Cookie Decorating

So my kids and I decorated Sugar Cookies yesterday. Everything was going fine until it actually came time to decorate them. You all remember from reading my past posts that I have a slight problem with, uh, hmm, uh, well you know. "Doing things MY way!"
You know it doesn't matter that I don't know where my kids hands have been or if they washed them before they started touching all the cookies. I will be throwing caution to the wind and eating one after supper anyway.(Okay 3). No that's not the problem. The problem is deep down I wanted to whip out my piping bags and tips and go hog crazy. But that's just not going to happen in the here and now. In the after and later on it could, because my kids would be in bed and I could have all the icing and cookies and the decorations and the table all to myself. BWAH! HA!HA!
(Soooooooo... someone mentioned that they are looking for that help line!) Was that you Debra? Maybe you can intervene when you get here on Friday!!!
The kids had a blast and they mixed colors and sprinkles and licked there butter knives, all the while not knowing that there Mom sitting 2 feet away wanted to scrap all the icing off and start over LOL. I'm so kidding! I'm really not THAT bad. Uh, hem!
Aaaaaany way I know you would love to see some pictures of our wonderful cookie making experience, so here they are.
These are the two head chefs. Aren't they cute?

We were reaching the end of our dough here.
All baked and ready to decorate!
Right about here is where I had to detach myself emotional! Oh I'm just kidding!
You see the little guy over on the left there? Yes that's the same one that had ornament cluster problems. He also, come to find out, is obsessed with cookie decorating. Let's just say that between the 3 of them he probably decorated more than half by himself! I wish I could have video taped him because there came a point when I had to tell the other two to grab some off the tray to decorate or they wouldn't have any left to. So they did and when the little one saw that there were no more on the tray he proceeded to ask for the ones they had on there paper towel. Do we see a trend here? I'm starting to feel like he's a bit more like me than I want to admit! All and all they had a blast and I had fun taking pictures and eating the cookies!
Didn't they do a good job!
Hugs to you my friends.

  1. They're pretty yummy! Two-in-one description...hehehe! Sounds like an understatement though. Your children are very cute and they have the passion with what they're doing. Good thing to instill while they are still young. Just adorable. Beautiful cookies!

GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ABUNDANTLY! P.U.S.H.

  8. The cookies look beautiful!!

Always remember, my dear, dear friend, that these times are fleeting. There will come a day, much more quickly than you realize, when you WILL be doing all the decorating yourself because those little ones have grown up and are no longer interested. Then you will have perfect cookies...and you won't want them anymore!!! You will want to have the OCD nightmare cookies all over again. Take it from me---I've had my share of frustrations because things weren't done exactly how I thought they should be done...and I'd give anything to go back to those days again. I would enjoy them more and stop worrying that everything was done perfectly.

Rachael Ray may not think your cookies look very appealing. But you know what, she ain't coming to your house. Your friends are...and they will think the cookies are the beautiful creation of three kiddoes who are making memories with their mom.

    Love you!!

In the end, they did a great job, didn't they? And they all taste just the same. 8-]

  21. I just found you today and I almost peed myself when I read this - mostly because I so relate. I love doing memory making things with the kids, but the, um, resemble part of me usually hopes they will have a quick blast then get bored and find something else to entertain themselves before everything is done. That way, I can finish at least a few of whatever project the way I'd like them to be. And I so get the addicted to blogging, too. Only problem is I started my blog as a reference, so I catch my self before giving TMI and stop just short of hitting the publish button. If I had any more time I would SO have a second more personal blog for the random "What the...?" moments that happen around here. Anyway, thank you for letting me into your corner of the world. It was nice to meet you!
