Works For Me Wednesday- Backwards Edition

In this edition of WFMW I ask you a question and you help me out. And boy am I in need of some help. I am in desperate need of a new pair of sneakers. I have pretty much run these into the ground. Don't believe me? Take a look.

Pretty sad huh? They used to be white! Yup, I can not stand looking for work out shoes. First of all I'm a size 10.5. You can't find a 10.5 in a store. 7.5, 8.5, 9.5 yes but 10.5 NO! I'm not sold on the type of shoe I've been wearing either. It's AVIA. I've had Nike's and Reebok as well. So I'm not loyal to any one shoe, YET! So here's my question. What works for you? Do you have a favorite shoe you work out in or wear daily and love? If so tell me ALL about it. Please just don't say, "I have Nikes" and leave me hanging for what kind of Nike's. We all know that each shoe manufacturer has about 15 million zillion different "types" of sneaker. If you can give me more specifics and help me narrow down my search I would greatly appreciate it. AND if I pick the shoe that you suggested I will send you a $5.00 gift card to Starbucks so you can celebrate the time and effort you spent on helping me, with a cup of joe! I'll be searching for a pair this weekend. Another reason I need your help is because I may buy them off the internet since that's the only way I can get a size 10.5 and I won't be able to try them on. So be as specific as you can about why you love your sneakers. LOL. Better yet blog about why you love your sneakers and link here. LOL. I am so kidding.
Thank you for your help in advance!!
Head on over to We are that Family for more WFMW!
BIG HUGS!

  1. Well Kimmy, I'm afraid your old pal Debra isn't gonna be too much help on this one. I have a pair of sneakers I've had for about 3 years that I go walking in ... and they still look brand new! lol

Jay bought them for me at the Outlet Mall in Vero and they are Tommy Hilfigers. I don't usually go for any brand name anything but he insisted I have them and I must say...they have stood the test of time but, my friend, I don't work out everyday or with such diligence like you do. So, I really don't know is what I could have summed all of this up with.

Also ... your blog layout looks perfect to me. No weirdness going on. lol

Happy Wednesday, sweet one. Good luck on the shoe hunt!

This is the shoe I walk/run in. It is perfect for over-pronating, has a ton of support, looks great and lasts forever. I wear a 10 and get mine at a local running store. It is a bit pricey but well worth every dime! Good luck! It is the Brook Ariel running shoe.

  3. I buy Nikes. I would buy them without trying them on, too. They fit my narrow foot well and don't have too much arch support for me. I also wear a 9.5, so sometimes can't find them in the store. They're also well made and last a long time.

Good luck on your shoe quest!

  4. Hi Kim,

I have alot of trouble with shoes as well for various reasons....one of them is size (they usually don't have 6.5 wide). The New Balance shoes seemed to be designed very well for difficult feet and are so comfortable! I hear that it's what podiatrists recommend as well! I'd be happy to go shopping with you and share that cup of coffee with you ;)

    Love you!

  6. I doubt I'm the best to give advice on this. But here's what I know. When my husband needed new running shoes he went to a running store. They video taped him running and got him a shoe based on his stride. Not sure if there is a store like that near you, but he loved that they were so knowlegable and got something just for him.

  7. As much as I would love to help and win a gift card to starbucks...since I am giving mine away. LOL
My shoes are years old so you wouldn't find them anywhere. I have about 3 different pairs that I rotate. Nike, Reebok, & addidas. So I am not partial to any either. I hear NB are good, but not sure there are any really good styles out there.
Best of luck...but send me the card for the great comment anyways:)

  8. Ryka Shoes

That's the shoe I wear - and I go through 2 pair a year, sometimes more - but I wear them every single day for about 12 hours a day. Ryka is a women's shoe company, designed by women and inspired by women. I buy mine at Lady Footlocker. I initially bought my first pair because I wanted a wide shoe and that was the only one available to me in my size. Now I buy them because they feel awesome on my feet.

    Good Luck!

  9. Kim,
My favorite and most comfortable shoe is Skechers Sport running shoe,I like it much better than Nike, Reebok or Avia. It really supports my foot well.

  10. This may not be terribly useful, my feet are so big (13, though a 12.5 would be better... they don't exist though *L*) that I usually have to buy mens shoes. I recently got a pair of Fila "Disruptor" shoes and I really like them. I got them from Costco and I think they were about 40-45$

  11. I have Nikes, but I confess that I haven't been wearing them. Why? I haven't been working out. Ugh! I hope and pray the weather will be better so I can start walking soon. My back injury put me to where I am not able to work out as much as I used to. :(

  12. I am in need of new running shoes as well, but am clueless as to what to buy. I too have a hard to fit foot, except mine is narrow. They don't really make narrow running shoes. It is tough!

  13. I used to sell shoes. I concur with the brooks running commenter. Very good running shoe there. Also concur with the buy men's commenter. Go to a shoe store that will measure your foot and ask to be measured on the men's scale. You are probably a 8 1/2 or 9. This size may be a little difficult to find, but not as difficult as the 10 1/2. Nike tend to run narrow, so it'd be a good brand if you choose the men's shoe option.

  14. Hello finally my friend! Work out shoes you say? What are those - LOL??! I am sorry I have no chance of winning your giveaway - I don't even know what brand my shoes are and it would be such a work out to go and check. :)

They might be Avia. I am not brand loyal - price and comfort are my priorities. I really am of no help! What a terrible friend I am! I do hope you find something.

I will actually be getting up at 5 AM tomorrow morning since we have to take my Dad to the airport! Hopefully I'll get a little time to catch up on blog reading.

    Big 10.5 Size Hugs!!

  15. The last two pairs of athletic shoes I've really liked are Asics. I find them most affordable at Academy Sorts. I'm not sure what style number they are, but they are lightweight, but also offer great support and keep my feet cool. I wear a 10 wide and they are hard to find too. I have one pair that is considered a running shoe and another pair that is cross trainers. I love both pairs! I have wide feet across the ball area, then narrow at the heel and my feet hurt with other shoes so these are wonderful to my feet.

Good luck finding the right pair for your tooties.
