Making My Home Sing

This is my first time participating in this Meme with Nan from Mom's the Word but it looked fun and so I'm doing it.

I love this time of year. I always have. Ever since I was a kid I looked forward to it with anticipation. After all my two favorite holidays were back to back one month to the next.
I always remembered my Mom decorating the house for the holidays. She had these paper decorations from Hallmark that she would put on the door of each cupboard in the kitchen and I would just stare at them and get giddy about the days to come.
Because of those memories I knew that I would want to make my home sing that way too. My most excellent Mother passed those paper decorations down to me and though they are a little worn, they still make their way on my cupboard doors. I have some for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.
My 4 year old can not wait until Christmas lights go up. He seems them at some restaurants and gets all excited thinking we will be putting ours up (in the middle of July). And though I still have a bit of OCD in me, I do let them "help" me decorate the house for each holiday. Very well supervised of course. Okay, yes, I admit it. I'm basically behind them the whole time telling them where to put everything but I'm pretty sure they don't pick up on it, YET!

Even without the holidays I try to decorate for the seasons. (Even though we only have 2 seasons in Florida, hot and not so hot!). I do like to change things and keep the singing going all year long.
And with that said, I will be decorating for Fall the first of October. I know the kids are looking forward to it and there will be great singing come from our house! Sounds of laughter and joy, sounds of me going behind the little one and putting things where I want them! LOL What? If you read my blog you know how it is! Need you go back to LAST Christmas?

So what are you doing to make your house sing?
Visit Nan at Mom's the Word and see what others are doing!

HUGS!
Oh and if you didn't read my blog Saturday because you were busy like me, I mentioned some useful links and giveaways you might want to check out!!!

  2. All the decorating sounds like fun my friend! And I laugh as I think of you following behind and "fixing" everything! :)

I am glad to have already decorated for Fall even though it has still been very hot here. It has helped me feel more like the season is here and not so short before holidays arrive.

I'm glad you're making your home sing! Isn't it a lovely way to start a Monday?

Have a wonderful day! Big oh-now-wouldn't-that-ornament-look-just-a-little-better-right-over-there-why-don't-you-try-that hugs!! :)

  4. I hope you'll take pictures, I'd love to see your decorations!

I know what you mean, when the kids were little they loved to help me decorate, and sometimes I would have to "help" too.

"Don't you think things would look better spread out around the room instead of in just one place like that?"

Thank you for joining us today and happy decorating.

  5. Kim,

Sometimes the words you use in your blog sound so much like me sometimes. I too are a lot like you with the decorating. Too often I wait until the kids leave or are gone from the house and redecorate it. Just where does that come from???

One of these days, I am just going to throw caution to the wind and hand them everything and stand back. I'm just not sure when that will be but it better be soon, because soon enough they will be out on their own.

    Love and Hugs ~ Kat

  11. Kimmy,

My sister gets some really unique looking gourds from work too (I'll be sure and save you some). I love to decorate ... You could even make up a season and I'd want to decorate for it...but I do love this time of season too...I can feel the itch of wanting to start changing my colors, etc.

I miss you. This distance thing is beginning to bother me. So who do you think needs to start nagging their husband about switching their job? lol

    Love ya bunches!

  16. Would you want me to ship you some of the myriad of leaves that continuously fall onto our deck and all over our backyard??...being that you are deprived of such a monumental blessing in your neck of the woods....

Probably the best time would be in the next few weeks as they haven't quite started their color change voila yet. Then it wouldn't make the daily clean up such a vain task.

We could make it an "even steven" exchange if you shipped me sand from your surplus. Though I think you would get the bad end of the deal because your shipping costs would be colossal!
