I Can't Believe I'm Saying This!

So I was doing some thinking today! ( I really hate that because something like this happens.)
I saw that Lent starts on Wednesday.
I did some reading about Lent and I am going to participate in it this year by sacrificing something that I love! ( Can you guess what it is?)
I'm going to give up, for 40 days......

............wait for it........

.............CHOCOLATE!

There I said it! Can you believe it? I can't believe it! Kathy, can you believe it? LOL! She's probably on the floor of her office right now!

I want to use this 40 days as a time of reflection of what Christ has done for me.

So I guess it means I better eat this box of See's Chocolates that I got in the mail yesterday from a giveaway I won at my blog friend Sherry's, huh?As you can see I've already started! It's SOOOOOOO good!

Are you participating in Lent? If so what are you giving up?

Anyone want to help me finish this box of chocolates? LOL!
Don't worry it will get eaten before Wednesday!

HUGS TO YOU MY FRIENDS!

40 days...wow... your brave! :P I wonder what Lisa @ Stop an smell the chocolates will say about this. Your leaving the chocolate world.:( I bet the next 10 posts will be about how much you miss chocolate! LOL

  3. Wow. You have to be taking this seriously. I don't know if I could give it up. Nope, not when my birthday and two of my children's birthdays fall during that time. My brother observes lent. He says the trick is that if you are eating at someone else's house or they've invited you out to eat, it doesn't count. So go over to your friends' houses for some chocolate if you can't take it! lol

  5. Hi Kim,
    Kathy C's Sister here:
Well, from what Kathy tells me about how much you two love chocolate, I imagine it's going to be a tough start. But... I think after the first few days/week, you will start hungering more for Him than you ever did for chocolate. Looking forward to following you through your adventure. I think I need to give up being a couch potato!

  7. Go for it - however 40 days is such a long time - but by the time you finish it will be Easter and lots and lots of chocolate will be awaiting:)

  10. Technically, if you come to my house and cover your chocolate stash in ALL of our snow, it would be powdered sugar with a subtle pseudo white chocolate flavoring!? ( ;

  14. Kim,

I had a sense of where you were headed and think it's a great thing to give up because I know how hard it will be for you. Yet just think of what will be waiting for you on your return! CHOCOLATE!

    Love and Hugs ~ Kat

  15. You are a crazy woman my friend - LOL! But I know you can do it! Surprisingly I could give up chocolate (only temporarily) but if I had to give up *dessert*, that would be another story!

Think of all the delicious non-chocolate things you can enjoy: try a caramel frappuccino instead of a mocha at Starbucks, anything caramel, cheesecake, apple cake with cream cheese frosting, strawberry shortcake, sugar cookies, peanut brittle, - oh the list goes on and on - LOL!! And now I'm drooling! :)

Big eating-a-pound-of-chocolates-that-fast-will-make-you-sick-of-chocolate-anyway hugs to you!! Love you my friend - enjoy your day! :)

  17. I'm with Lisa, this opens you up to a whole new world of desserts...I am giving up fries...I drink chocolate protein shakes, so I didn't know if that would count (legalism at it's worst)
I'm proud of you and Easter is going to taste so good!
