The Garage is Now Closed!

Just another reason why I love my hubby!
Last week this was the scene in our garage, except for the most part my husband was laying on that red thingy and it was underneath the truck. When I had a spare minute, I would sit on the little beach chair and share my truck repairing knowledge with him. ("Honey, I don't think that black stuff should be dripping like that!")
And make supporting comments like, "Um, you don't expect those jeans to go in MY washer do you?" Yeah, I was a lot of help. Just ask him.
I'm just glad that I have a hubbalicious that has the confidence to tear something like this apart and then know how it all goes back together without any extra parts leftover.

See both our vehicles have over 100,000 miles on them. His has over 190,000 and mine over 130,000 so it's no doubt that this was going to have to take place at some point but usually it doesn't take a whole week.
Do you see my vehicle? No? That's because it's outside. On the other side of that door, covered with pollen and salt and dirt. My poor baby! LOL!
And do you know who's vehicle he took to work every day? Yup, mine. The only problem I have with that is all of a sudden I feel like I have to go somewhere. Somewhere, I don't know where, but somewhere.

So he got his truck all put back together and drove it for the first time to work yesterday and do you know where I went? NOWHERE! I just needed to know that if I wanted to, I could! LOL!
Can anyone relate?

Have a fabulous day my friends!

Don't forget about my giveaway!

  1. Oh dear! My suburban is quickly approaching 90,000 miles. I am hoping to drive mine over 100,000 miles too. Thanks for stopping by to see pictures of Rachel in her prom dress. Our girls are growing up much too fast! Blessings to you.

  2. Oh, I can most definitely relate. One of my sons doesn't have a car at the moment and needs transportation for work (he doesn't live at home), my he has been borrowing my hubby's car. I've been working long days and we live close, so most days I get taken to work. There is just something about knowing you can't leave if you want to. All in all it has worked out. BUT I want my car back!

  4. Yes I can relate!I sold my car back in November..we needed money to keep the elctricity on..groceries and some other minor bills. God sold it in 2 days for us.At first I was okay..and I still am..I just thought at my age I would still be so independent..I'm having to rely on others just to go to the store. There is no wandering thru my favorite places..going to the park..no up town walking..and that really is okay...God provided for us and I did what He told me to do.I will recieve a car at some other time...
All our suburbans made it to 250,000 miles are more..they are so durable..lol

    Hugs..Cindy

  6. Guess now you can really focus on spring cleaning instead of being too busy running here and there!?

I tend to appreciate the places more that I can go to once I get my wheels back.
Think of all the $$ that's being saved as your through this temporary inconvenience that you can spend (wisely) once you are able to get out and about again!
    Hubby labor is priceless!

  9. I can so relate. This year my middle son started college. He lives at home but commutes to ORU. He and my husband have spent the last year and a half restoring his car so guess who was left without a car while he is at school and dad is at work... you guessed it - ME. And you are right, I always thought I had somewhere to go and on the rare occasion I had a car I sat here with no where to go. One good part was I didn't have to do all the little trips to the store : ) and now my son really knows his way around the local grocers. Love, Angel

  10. I love this!
For a while we tried to go with just one vehicle. I walked to the grocery store, library, friend's houses, etc.
By the end of that I didn't care what kind of car he got me!!!
Way to be wise with your resources!

  11. Oh, yes, it's kinda like - only in reverse - when you live close to some wonderful place and never go, coz it'll be there when you're ready. Then after you move, you think, 'why didn't we go there when we had the chance?' Funny how you can have 2 or 3 cars and only one works at a time. 8-Þ

    Love ya loads, sweet thang!
    Have a JESUS-filled day! ^i^

  12. I'm driving the old beater pick-up truck right now because the transmission went out on my car. Hopefully we can get it fixed when our tax return comes. I can definitely relate to your story.

  13. HA! I think it's just human nature to want what we cannot have.

  14. I can definitely relate! We've been through our fair share of car problems. We had a van that had to have the transmission replaced twice. Yep...TWICE. Then, another van that had a problem in the transmission (I think a forward piston had to be replaced?). Anyway, that little piston kept my van in the shop for THREE weeks. So, I definitely sympathize with you. Glad you got your car back!

  15. It's funny how having the ability to go anywhere when you want to is comforting. Not that you GO anywhere, right?!

  16. I so love having a hubby that can fix cars - it's such a blessing (though sometimes we just have to go with the mechanic for time purposes). My car just hit 100,000 miles and hubs' car is close to 90,000 I think, but we also have an old truck that can be a backup and I don't know how many miles that has - well over 100,000 I think.

Big it's-hard-to-be-without-a-vehicle-since-one-never-knows-when-an-extreme-Starbucks-emergency-might-occur hugs to you! Have a happy day my friend! :)

  17. I can TOTALLY relate! Lol!

And the next time my husband "fixes" one of our assorted and decidedly older vehicles, I'll have to remeber the beach chair thing. Usually I just hover. You're brilliant! :)
