A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. Proverbs 17:22

Um, Hi! I'm only turning 40! Not 55!

Yes, I have a birthday coming up soon.
And yes, I'll be turning 40!
No, I didn't have a problem with it until I got this in the mail the other day!

Thank but no thanks AARP! I appreciate your thoughtfulness but I'm going to pass right now! I still have a few good years left before I will need your help!

Talk about making you feel old! Sheesh!

  2. Kim,

OK this isn't funny! Perhaps its just a joke that someone played on you although not very nice.

40 is the new 21 with 19 years of experienced added on. So when someone asks, that's what you tell them!

  7. Hmmm...I never got one, but if I had I would have looked into how I could work that into some sweet advantages and I would show it all the time and people would tell me that I looked FANTASTIC for my age - LOL!

Big can't-figure-out-why-you-got-that-AARP-card-'cause-I-thought-they-only-gave-it-to-**mature**-adults size hugs to you!! HA! Have a lovely day my friend! Love you!

  8. Ha ha, very funny. A friend of mine had a bad experience, she was asked in person! by a clerk if she wanted the senior discount. I saw her right after and she was angry AND depressed since she has years to go before qualifying. So at least AARP didn't see you in person and make the judgment call :), it was just a computer glitch.

  9. That happened to me too right before I turned 40 last fall. I told my parents about it and my dad chuckled. He told me that he use to receive Scooter store advertisements but when he turned 65 they started sending burial plot information. Oiy! I'll take the AARP mail anytime. Keep smiling and welcome to the Fabulous 40 club!

  10. I hear ya, girl!! Since my husband is four years older than I am, we have been getting those AARP things for a few years now. I think they started arriving when he was 45. I always shredded them ASAP. (Like out of sight, out of mind!!)

40 was a difficult one for me, as have been most of them since...But somehow I don't think that will be the case for you.

    Love,
    Patti

  11. What are those anyway? I better not be getting one soon either, and I'll be 41 in a couple of months!

  12. Guess what dh got the other day in the mail? Info about buying a burial plot. I laughed. We are only 10 months apart, but ... I have to harass him as he is older and turns 40 first. :D
