I See in Bokeh!

I love to take pictures but I really don’t know a lot about photography. But apparently there is a term called “bokeh” that is very popular. Here is the dictionary definition.

bokeh-a Japanese term for the subjective aesthetic quality of out-of-focus areas of a photographic image.

Here is an example. Courtesy of my daughter!

My first thought was that this was just a word someone came up with to cover up the fact that they really didn’t know how to take a decent picture. But apparently it actually takes some talent to accomplish. What do I know?

I however can accomplish this effect without the need of an expensive camera. All I have to do is take out my contact lenses and Voila’!  Bokeh Baby! Whatever is close to me is clear but everything behind it is as blurry as it can be.

It used to bother me that my eyesight was bad but now I’m starting to think that it’s kind of cool as long as there is this neat word to define it. A new trend maybe? Well it’s better than being called blinder than a bat!

So the next time I go to my eye doctor I’m not going to say I can’t see well, I’m just going to tell him that I see in bokeh!

HUGS!

  3. I think that's how God wants us to see all the time. He wants us to focus on that which is right in front of us (today). The only thing that should be in focus is what God is calling us to do today. He tells us not to worry about tomorrow or anything else - just focus on Him.
    Thanks for this great post!

  5. That's cute....I see in "reverse" bokeh! Everything close is blurry and the distance is clear. I think you can take pictures like that too.

  12. Beautiful Bokeh!! :)

Loved your take on the word too! I see exactly the opposite. Close things blurry and far away is clear. I wonder what they call that.
