Project Simplify~Week 1~Kids Stuff!

Well I’m finished with week 1 of Project Simplify. Tackling one small project at a time helped to complete the whole project by the end of the week.

This week we were dealing with kids stuff. I have to say that my 6 year olds side of the room was the most time consuming. He keeps EVERYTHING! And he puts it anywhere and everywhere there is space.

I ended up with a whole big garbage bag of trash and he hasn’t missed a thing. Yay!

But enough of that. You’re here for the before and after shots aren’t ya? You wanna see my kids messy room don’t ya? Hey if I can make you feel better by showing our mess then who am I to say no.

Well upon looking at the pictures I took it seems that you really need to be here in person to appreciate the difference so I’m inviting everyone to my house for the after unveiling. What? You can’t make it? Fine, then you’ll have to settle for imperfect pictures.

Day 1 was my 6 year olds dresser.  It was a mess.

His clothes do start out folded, I promise, but when you ask a 6 year old to put his clothes away, sadly this is what it ends up looking like. Maybe I should have showed him how first. Hmmm…

And now for the after.

All neatly folded and put away.

Day 2 I spent on his bed and surrounding areas.

This is his bed on most any given day. *sigh*

His bed now.

My 9 year who shares a room with my 6 year old builds rockets. REALLY big rockets. They take up a lot of space. We’re working on a solution.

Day 3 I had a splitting headache so I didn’t get much done. Okay I didn’t get anything done.

So that left me with yesterday where I finished up the loose ends, like the bookshelf and things left on the floor.

Bookshelf area before.

And after.

Here are the purged items. Clothes, books, toys, etc. It doesn’t seem like a lot but I had actually done a purge right before Christmas.

If you truly enjoy looking at other people’s messy befores and  totally together afters (as I do) well then head on over to Simple Mom and check them out.

I know some of you were joining in so make sure you let me know so I can come see your messies I mean your totally rockin’ after pictures.

Have a WONDERFUL day my friends!

And just because I know you want to know. Here are all the words in my post that aren’t really words and weren’t recognized by spell check.

Yay! ya, wanna, afters, befores, messies, rockin’,

Pretty soon I’ll have my own language finished and slowly infiltrate the world using my blog. BWAH HA HA HA! And that’s right about the time pigs are going to fly.

HUGS!

  1. Great job! And I totally make up my own words all the time. I figure people will understand for the most part :-) And your son's rocket is pretty awesome!

  2. Oh if only it would stay that way. I remember purging my kids' rooms when they were away at camp. They would come home and find a perfect room, only to destroy it with 2 weeks worth of camp laundry (yuck). Darn, I miss those days.

  3. Love the rockets! So creative. Maybe when he is done with a rocket and ready to start another one you can take photos and make a rocket book/album to remember them and watch the progress.

  4. Well, I don't know what's wrong with YOUR kids, but MY kids' rooms NEVER look like that!!!!

OK, my nose is growing and growing and growing....

Martha Stewart doesn't live here, in any inch of my home. But, love and activity reign supreme.

You did inspire me to find the floor and the bed of my 9 year old daughter, however.
