I am a closet reader. No really. I am. I actually like to read in my closet.
Here’s why:
- It’s quiet. (No kids allowed)
- All my books are in there
- It’s quiet!
I’m actually in the process of looking for a more comfortable chair to put in there. Nothing to big of course but something a little more lounge like. Sometimes I’ll even lay out on the carpet and read.
Many a times I’ve heard the kids wondering through the house asking for me and wondering where I am. I snicker silently to myself as I sit in my happy place, book in hand. Oh don’t worry I usually let someone responsible know where I am in case there’s an emergency. But every once in awhile I escape go to my little closet and just recoup and do a little reading.
I know, weird right?
Do you have a secret hiding reading place?
I think it's BRILLIANT!
ReplyDeleteYup, it is brilliant, and your closet reading room looks ever so cozy.
ReplyDeleteHi there, I totally understand the need for a quiet, cozy secret place. I used to just go into the bathroom and lock the door. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter, Noreen
Totally funny. I have a nice walk-in closet like yours, but I don't read in there. I read in the dining room or the bathroom...yes, embarassing, but true :) Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, Kim! This gives a whole new meaning to "coming out of the closet" too. I see cookbooks there! Hope you stumble across a real comfortable chair. (Your closet is neat. I'm convicted)
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to you and yours!
Mary
I recently put a cozy chair in our bedroom for reading/having my quiet time.
ReplyDeleteI have never read in my closet, but when my boys were a lot younger I would sometimes have a little quiet time (and a little chocolate) in our pantry! :)
I love it! I read in the basement before the kids get up, or in my bedroom lying on my bed with the door shut. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your happy place! I confess I go into my closet as well- only I don't go there to read... I go to pray. I call mine my Prayer Closet! I stand, I sit, I kneel, and sometimes I am just flat out on my face! It is truly the BEST!
ReplyDeleteWhen I read, I just say to my Son ~ "Hey you want to grab our books and go read together?" He hasn't ever turned me down! WE LOVE IT :)
HAPPY ALMOST FRIDAY MY FRIEND!!
I don't have anywhere that good, but I can see the attraction. But you do need a more comfortable chair!! with no small children, this is no longer a problem - but I have been known to take a book to the bathroom!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, Kim!
ReplyDeleteI read in bed, very boring and standard I know..but I used to be anti-bed so it's kind a victory for me to lie in bed and read LOL!
If I had a fancy-dancy closet all organized like that, I would LIVE in there! Lol! I love your hiding place. :)
ReplyDeleteI know someone who wrote their Ph.D. thesis in a closet, so that can only mean that deep thinkers retreat to their closets to engage in intellectual pursuits! But I think you DEFINITELY deserve a better chair, girlfriend.
ReplyDeleteThat's a fabulous spot my friend - it's huge! And sooooo neat & tidy! You're not the first I've heard having a reading spot in the closet - some even have a hotpot to have tea right there!
ReplyDeleteBig when-I-read-this-I-got-a-funny-picture-in-my-mind-of-me-crammed-in-my-closet-between-the-clothes-and-shoes-since-I-don't-have-a-walk-in-closet size hugs to you!! Love you friend! Have a blessed Resurrection Day! :)
I love your reading space. I try to read in bed before I fall asleep, but always fall asleep!
ReplyDeletei love it! i need me a closet!!
ReplyDeleteWhen my daughter was a little girl I transformed a walk-in closet that was in my hall into a play room for her with a table and chairs, a kitchen set, and posters on the wall. She loved it!
