When Life Gives You Lemons……

……you make cough syrup, or put it in your tea, or mix it with garlic and honey. Yeah, that’s pretty much what I’VE been doing with it for the past few days.

IMG_3896 If you read my post about our Sea World trip or have been on my Homesteader’s FB page you are pretty caught up with how I’ve been feeling.

Last night was the first night out of 4 that I actually got some sleep. My cough is starting to finally let up, a little. I’m on the mend, I hope.

Now as I look back at my desperate attempts to do things all natural, I have to laugh at what I actually concocted and put in or on my body.

Here’s a little break down of what I’ve consumed in the past 4 days. IMG_3895

  • In a small bowl I mixed lemon juice, honey and minced garlic and yes I ate the WHOLE thing.
  • In another small bowl I mixed just honey and cinnamon, and ate it. (That actually tasted pretty good.)
  • I drank different herbal teas like they were going out of style.
  • I bought some “natural” cough suppressant and took it at night.
  • Lemon water was my savior during the night time coughing fits.
  • I made and yes, drank my famous, (okay, maybe it’s not famous but it should be), garlic tea.
  • In my water I put apple cider vinegar, honey and cayenne pepper. Yup, drank that too.

IMG_3894On my body I mixed a combination of essential oils and a carrier oil and rubbed in on my  chest AND my feet before bed. I smelled all fresh and minty. That helped with the fact that I was eating raw garlic on a regular basis throughout the day.

I’m sure I’m leaving things out but as you can see, it’s been an interesting few days. We’ll see how it goes.

If you happen to think of me during your prayer time, I sure would appreciate a shout out.

HAVE A LOVELY DAY MY FRIENDS!

  2. Ick...I just can't do garlic unless it's in chicken :) :) I hope you feel better soon :) :) :)

I always stay away from all dairy, sugar...and load up on berries when I'm feeling sick!!! Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :) :) :)

  3. Hi Kim, So sorry you are still under the weather. You make me smile though because I grew up on honey & lemon-due to costant colds. Have you tried beyoutiful Berry Well cold syrup? It's got elderberry and honey and our entire family lives on it when colds are going around. We also use Echinecia throat spray, we get at the health food store and that helps as well-a bit nasty to taste but since you do garlic so much, it probably wouldn't bother you.
    Hang in there girl.
    Hugs, Noreen

  4. I guess the "up" side to all of this is that you didn't fill your body (and mind) with a bunch of chemically laden, alcohol laden medications!

It might be a slower process, but a much healthier one.

Sorry it's lasted so long and I hope it gets better soon!

  9. I hope by now you are feeling more yourself! It's no fun being under the weather.

My head isn't floating as much as it was. But I think my husband is coming down with it. :(

  11. I hate colds! I'm praying get to feeling better soon. I'm a natural remedy girl, too. The last time I had a sinus infection, I actually snorted peroxide. You know what, it worked! I didn't have to get antibiotics. Coughs are no fun. Hope you are on the mend soon!
