Well I have a little story to tell you about our Christmas tree. Two years ago we bought a new tree on clearance. A 9ft. tree. Our tree prior to that one was a 6 foot tree. We had the 6ft. tree for 15 years and it was falling apart so we ventured out to buy a new one. We thought since we had moved into a house with 15 ft. ceilings we’d go taller. You know, go big or go home. It was so grown up and rational at the time.
With that said, we’ve put that 9ft tree up proudly in our home the last two years. Fast forward to this Christmas. Since last year I’d added a couple pieces of furniture into our living room. Pieces that can’t easily be put somewhere else. Those pieces are where the Christmas tree would usually go.
Now lets go back 3 or 4 months. We started closing in our screen porch, hoping it would be done by Christmas. Well it got done enough yesterday so we thought we’d just put our tree out there. Problem solved, right? Wrong. Remember we have a 9 foot tree and 15 foot ceilings IN the house but the new addition only has 8 ft. some odd inch ceilings. So our “new” tree wouldn’t fit.
Do you think that stopped us? If you answered no, you are so very correct. In desperation we removed the bottom portion of our tree and only connected the middle and the top to make a “perfect” 6 ft. tree to put in our new room.
Yes, it looks a little “strange” but it’s going to work for now.

ReplyDeleteWell played! And if your space ever calls for a 3-foot trade, you'll adjust again, right? I considered sawing a hole in the ceiling to get a bigger tree in someday.
ReplyDeleteOH, your Christmas tree story had me laughing out loud ;) :) :) I'm glad things are all sorted out now...and I couldn't tell a difference in the look of the tree other than what you pointed out ;) :) I'm nto sure if we'll do a tree this year or not. We have this funky cool fibre-optic Christmas tree. It's a small one. So we'll probably just dig that out from the garage :) Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :)
