Calling All Coffee Lovers!

IMG_7274 Those of you who have been to my blog over the years know that I love me some coffee. But when I first started drinking coffee it was all about the sugar and cream and caramel and chocolate sauce and whatever else I could get them to put in it. Well once I figured out that wasn’t the best thing for me (darn it) I resorted to only putting half and half in my coffee. You know what I found? Not all coffees are created equal. Shocker, I know! In fact, some coffees taste down right gnarly. Like, totally grody! Like for sure.

So over the years I’ve tried many many different coffees. I’ve tried those in coffee shops, in the bags, in the cans, you name it. But who I am going to tell you about today beats them all, hands down.

Let me introduce you to Penguin Yell Coffee. We’ll get to the name in a minute. First let me tell you a few reasons why I love it. And allow me to use bullets as to seem smarter and more organized. Cause life is all about perception right? *smile*

  • It’s organic. It’s just better for you. And by better for you I mean if you’re going to drink it this makes it less bad for you. And by bad I mean it’s not bad unless you’re drinking a pot or two a day or if you’re doctor told you not to and you still do. So, yeah. moving on.
  • It’s fresh roasted weekly. That’s right people you get as fresh a coffee as you can get without having to roast it yourself. And yes it does make all the difference in the world.
  • It’s smooth tasting. I haven’t gotten that bitter taste that I get from some coffees.
  • And the best reason of all, they are friends of ours and we love supporting families trying to live a more self sufficient life.

Intrigued? You should be. So what about that name? Penguin Yell. Here’s an excerpt from their website explaining how the name came about.

“The name wasn't solidified until 2013. My children suggested the name Penguin Yell and won me over with the meaning. My son, on an expedition to Patagonia, encountered a colony of Magellanic penguins. As he approached, all scattered except one. This brave penguin let out a cry and stood in defense of his lifelong mate as she lay nesting. My daughter added, "Daddy, penguins don't fly. They stand their ground." This little flightless bird displayed his qualities: faithfulness, courage, and grit. This story convinced me of the Penguin Yell. We hope you're inspired by these high ideals as you enjoy a cup of Penguin Yell Coffee. It is our privilege to offer you premium coffees, roasted on our Ozark Mountain farm.”

So what do you think? You ready to give it a try? You can visit their website at Penguin Yell and stay in touch and up to date with their goings ons on their FB page.

And no I’m not getting anything in return for my opinion I just love em’ and their coffee and so it would just be wrong not to share. :-)

OXOX,

Kim

Made in the U.S.A!

I may or may not be having a *soap box*  moment here, so bear with me. LOL!

Is it me or does it seem that EVERYTHING is made in China these days? What’s wrong with this Country? It’s like we’ve sold our souls to the devil. Sometimes it seems inevitable though doesn’t it? I mean I’m guilty of giving them some of our money this year for Christmas but I’ve tried really hard to keep my money right here in the good ol’ U.S of A.

You want to know a good place to start? Well if you haven’t already heard of Etsy, it’s a website dedicated to handmade things. There are hundreds of good ol’ Americans trying their best to make a dollar by creating some really great stuff.

First off let me tell you that with the exception of one person, I don’t know these people personally nor did they give me anything for linking to their store. I just happen to fall upon them in my search for Christmas gifts and thought I’d pass them along. The end.

You  might recognize this first store from a giveaway I recently had.

Lip Love specializes in Lip Balms. She has delicious flavors and I just recently ordered 3 kinds myself. To me, the price is great, especially for organic ingredients. These would make great stocking stuffers.

How about these fabric wallets from Quilted by Anne? I recently went to a local craft fair and bought one that is the exact same style and I LOVE it. I’m not a purse carrier so this fits nicely in my pocket. It holds my cash, drivers license and whatever other cards I might have.

Okay, I REALLY think I need to get this next thing. LOL!

Crispy Bacon Tarts made by Scents of Humor Candles.  Who doesn’t love the smell of bacon? YUM!

Now how about that man in your life? I don’t know about you but men are just hard to buy for. But I thought this Manly Soap Set looked really good. Not to mention they are made in my home state of Maine by Rocky Top Soap Shop !

And the kids? No problem. I found lots of fun things on there for kids. Here is a Mini-Hauling Truck Kit made by Times Past Toys. I thought it looked really fun. Especially for my boys!

And I couldn’t mention all of these without mentioning my daughter’s Etsy Shop. She is branching out and making new things all the time. She’s recently made crocheted slippers that are just adorable. You can find them in her shop, A Ray of Sunshine.

Well if nothing else I hope I inspired you  to “try” to keep your money right where it belongs, with the good people of America.  (Unless of course you don’t live in the U.S.A. and in that case just insert your own country in place of America. LOL!) And maybe you walked away with some good ideas for Christmas gifts too.

But let me leave you with this wise word!

“Just because it was handmade, doesn’t mean it was cheap!” Trust me, I’m speaking from experience. LOL!

HAVE A LOVELY DAY MY FRIENDS!!

Do You Even Know Who They Are?

You know I don't know if I've actually introduced you to one of my favorite websites and now blog!
Most of you know that I am addicted to Gooseberry Patch books. But have you ever visited them? (their website, not my books! LOL)
They have wonderful things on their site, but I'm hooked on the books!
They recently started a blog. You get all the latest news and giveaways and contests before anyone else. They also have a FB page.
In fact, I entered this....(go ahead and laugh at me, my whole family did! LOL)

and got this.....
for FREE!

All I had to do is post a video on their FB page telling them what my favorite Gooseberry Patch item was and they sent me their New Farmhouse Kitchen Cookbook! I love it. And who doesn't like free.
As you can see in the video, their Christmas Books are my favorite. Once you have one you want them all. They are full of great decorating ideas, homemade gift ideas and tons of yummy recipes. Plus they have the cutest graphics and illustrations that just make you smile from page to page.
No I'm not getting paid to tell you about this. I'm all for supporting those that are truly a blessing and have a great business that I enjoy.
Thank you Gooseberry Patch for such wonderful fun products and for my Free Cookbook that I am sooo loving!

HUGS TO YOU MY FRIENDS!

Calling all Small Business Owners

So I was thinking about something the other day. I'm sure there is probably somebody doing something similar out there somewhere but I don't know about, so in my mind it's my idea and I'm the only one doing it or thought about it. Phew! With that said, I was thinking of the state of our economy and how there are so many of us who are trying to help make ends meet by starting up small businesses on the web. I would like to showcase them right here and promote them to get the word out. Depending on how many I get from you all I may promote one a day or all in one post. I will definitely keep the links handy on my side bar for people to stumble upon and peruse at all time.
So if you would like to have your business promoted a little bit here on my blog please send me an email at goofyhappysilly (at) bellsouth (dot) com. All businesses must be family oriented and safe for all eyes. Give me the Name and URL of your business and a little summary of what you sell or what it's about. Or if you have any other money making ideas to share please do so as well and I will post those here and promote them and that way we can help support each other in an economy where Wal-Mart has pretty much monopolized the entire country.
How does this sound?
I'll give this a week and see how many I get and start promoting them next week.
Have a great day!!
BIG Hugs!
