All About Me Week Day 2

Are you having as much fun getting to "know" me better as I am answering your questions? I hope so. Check out Day One if you missed it.

One of today's questions is how I met my husband and how he proposed. I will try to put this in a nut shell. First off, we went to the same High School. BUT I wouldn't have given him the time of day back then. Let's just say he and I weren't compatible. (He hadn't come to know the Lord yet!) That's all I'll say. We both went our merry ways after high school. I married the one person the Lord DIDN'T want me to marry but within all that I had my very precious daughter. I know the Lord hates divorce, but we did divorce as he was having an affair and I was done. I moved back home (thank you Mom and Dad) and became a single Mom. But on Easter of 95' my life was about to finally change in a positive direction. My ex came to pick up my daughter (she was 1 at the time) and I was very upset. I called one of my good friends Tammy and asked if I could come over. She said of course as she and her family were just sitting down for Easter dinner. I ran, okay drove, over to her house with blood shot eyes from crying, no make up on and just a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. I walk in and there's Tammy and her family AND Brad. She didn't tell me that HE was there or I would have spruced myself up a bit. Long story short he asked me out for the following Friday, I accepted and we married 7 months later and have been married for 13 wonderful years. He truly is the man I was to marry. As for his proposal, well even he'll say it wasn't "too" incredibly romantic. He had talked to my Dad earlier that day to ask his permission to marry me. My Dad "lovingly" says, "What will you give me for her!?" (You gotta love my Dad.) While we were at the house he asked to excuse himself as he had to run to Publix. Yeah, Publix. So he comes back and asks me to come outside. Meanwhile, my Mother is grinning from ear to ear and I'm thinking she has gone plum crazy. So I go outside and in the seat of his truck is a red rose. And I thought "How sweet you got me a rose." Then he started to look a little pale and his voice got a little shaky and I thought he was going to pass out. Slowly he said, "Kim, first I want to tell you that I love you!" Let me back up and say that he told me when we started dating that he would never tell me that he loved me unless it was to be followed by a question. His reason? Because people use the word Love to loosely. Okay, so after the words I love you came out of his mouth, my jaw hit the floor. He then asked, "I want to know if you will marry me?" All I thought was "Duh, I've been telling you that I've wanted to marry you for 4 months now." But "YES, OH YES!" came out instead. He later apologized for not coming up with anything incredibly romantic as he thought he was going to throw up. Oh and the ring was stuck down in the rose. I almost forgot that part. So there you have it in a nut shell. Well sort of. I hope you at least found it an interesting read! LOL.

Okay I'll try and keep this other answer short. The next question was why and how I get up so early? Well with my husbands schedule he has to leave the house a little after 5am so I usually get up and pack his lunch and make his coffee for him. What you'll do for love! LOL. That and I really am a morning person. That's when I do my blogging and have quiet time.

Alright, I'm going to answer some shorter questions tomorrow and I'm keeping tabs on the new ones as well. Bring it on!

Oh and I had a GREAT idea for my Friday Funnies. In order to keep it still all about me, I'm going to reveal my most embarrassing moment AND I was thinking how fun it would be if EVERYONE did that for their Funny. Well at least those of you who are reading this and link up to my Funnies.
I'm done I promise. You've wasted enough time on me. Now go play with someone else.
LOVE YOU ALL!!

  6. Aww! What a sweet story! :) I was wondering are you naturally a morning person or does the coffee bring out the best in you? hehe, kidding...kinda :) What I was really curious about was: (and I know these are supposed to be questions about you, but I do think the two go together) has your husband always been a strong "head of the family" and spiritual leader?

  8. What a sweet sweet story my friend!! I loved hearing all about that! And love the pic!!

I do wish I was a morning person like you - maybe I can eventually make the switch! I need to get back to the 5:16am thing. If I did it before, I can do it again!

I am really enjoying your week!!

Thanks again for my lovely header! And I would so love to come to Disney World, but that would probably mean not seeing any family in MT. One of these days though...

Big all-proposals-are-romantic-no-matter-how-they're-done hugs to you!! :)

  9. Kim,

I love your proposal story! It is creative, romantic and unique in its own way! Most of all it was unforgettable!

I love how you became a morning person. It's the same for me, when hubby gets up, I do too to help him get ready and make his mornings not so lonely. After he leaves, I use that quiet time for other things that I don't have time to do any other day.

    Love and Hugs ~ Kat

  12. So sweet! I love getting to know you more. Lucky for me, my husband is NOT a morning person at all...so no need to get up super early : ) Of course I could get a lot done if I did get up!
I think I am going to have to pass on my most embarrassing moment. I might be able to think of something, though.

  13. Oh, I loved reading your story about you and your hubby. I also love your honesty and transparency. You know Kim, I was married before too. I got married in the middle of nursing school and we remained married for five years. I wasn't walking with the Lord then. But my ex and I are still on friendly terms and he is remarried and happy. My brother and he are friends. Isn't it wierd? I'm just glad it worked out so well. And I"m so glad that you and I found our true loves!!!

  17. Did Brad think your dad was for real, is that why he had to go to Publix?

Thanks for the invite on Friday, looking forward to it!

  18. That was a sweet story...Thanks for answering my questions! This has been fun getting to know more about you this week. Happy Birthday too.

My dad left for work really early for years...My mom got up and cooked a full breakfast every day. Sometimes she'd go back to bed, but she often just stayed up. I think they got up at 3:15 a lot of the time or maybe some of the time it was 4:15. I get up early now so I can have quiet house time alone.

  20. I wish I could wake up early-it's just not my season of life to be up and about then. But one day it will be again-seriously there's no time to do that extra stuff!!

  21. My husband proposed with a bouquet of flowers with the ring in it! He kept asking me to smell them. i did not catch on at all. LOL

  22. I love your "Love Story" and the similarities in our stories. I, too, married the man that I wanted to and not who the Lord had for me but the most beautiful part of that marriage was my precious son, Brandon. I was also a single parent for 4 years until my knight in shining armor walked into my life. We married 5 months after meeting and have been married 18 1/2 years.

I can't wait to share more stories of our lives together...IRL.

    (((hugs))

  24. My husband did not tell me he loved me until he proposed either. We also did not touch at all until the alter. Lets just say our first kiss (for both of us) was interesting. LOL We have been married for 5 1/2 years and have 4 children, one of which is in heaven. I couldn't be happier!

Wonderful story; isn't it amazing how God can use our own choices to mold us and bless us despite ourselves?

    Love the train!
