Long Over Due Date!

Okay I know this looks lengthy and wordy but I promise it's an easy read and you will get a giggle out of it!

My husband and I have been way over due on a little time together. We've had some stressful things jump into our laps all at once (as they seem to do) and so we hadn't had the time to get away for a little us time (which we badly needed).
BUT yesterday we had the perfect opportunity so we jumped at it!
It started off going back to a Hallmark store in which I saw this calendar and fell in love with it so I was going BACK to the HALLMARK store to get it. But wouldn't you know it, it was gone, and when I inquired the two sweet knowledgeable ladies behind the counter about it, the conversation went something like this.
Me: " Hi, I'm looking for a certain calendar that I saw here about 2 months ago. It says "Being a Normal Person Day After Day Can Be Exhausting" on it."

Her: "No, all that we've ever had are those calendars right there."
Me: " Huh, I was just in here 2 months ago and saw it, right here where I'm standing."
Her:" You sure it wasn't another HallMark store?"
Me:" Yes, because I was HERE with my friend and then went to the Hallmark store near my house and they said they are all independently owned so that's why I'm back at THIS store. Because this is the store where I saw it in the first place."
HER:" Well, (now said slightly sarcastically and looking back at the other lady) "I've been here 3 years and we never had any calendar like that."
Me: THINKING THIS PART!-Whatever, I have a stupid picture to prove I saw it here but you go ahead and think I'm nuts and don't know what I'M talking about!!!!!
"
Thank you anyways!"

So we left and headed toward the Melting Pot. I had never been but had always wanted to go. I knew it was expensive but tonight was special and so even though we probably could have fed a 3rd world country with what we were going to spend there, we went.
It was quite an experience for those of you who have never gone. You cook your own food in the boiling yummy brothy stuff.
Here are the highlights!
Me and my hubbalicious in our cozy booth in what they called the "lovers lane" of the restaurant. Very private! Loved it!

You would have thought I'd never been around smoke in a kitchen! LOL
Here is our dinner! All raw and ready to cook. We had a little bit of everything, steak, shrimp, chicken and sausage. EVERYTHING was super delicious!
Me fonduing!
Our dessert! Anything dipped in chocolate is good but we had bananas, cheesecake, pound cake, brownies, rice krispies, strawberries and marshmallows to dip tonight!
Can you tell what's covered in chocolate here?
I got a little creative as we don't care to much for marshmallows! LOL. The waitress loved it!

And how do you end the perfect date? Why at Wal-Mart of course to buy a new battery for the one that was pronounced dead in your vehicle! LOLOh and to top it all off, we scored 2 turkeys for .40 a lb there! Can you say SCORE!!!??

It was the perfect date with my hubby!

I love you sweetheart!

Thanks for hanging in there my friends.

  1. What a lovely date! The Hallmark store, the dinner with fruit posed in most interesting ways; the hunky hubby, and the dead battery! Sigh ... romantic. The only thing that would have topped it off even more would have been to come home to dog upchuck on the carpet!

Glad you had a much deserved day out.

  4. The Walmart part sounds like the best part of the date. Maybe I'm biased 'cause my husband and I have gone to Walmart to buy diapers on a date night before!

Our sitter could not believe us when we told her what we'd done!

YOu gonna take the pic back to Hallmark right?

    smooches,

Sounds like a great evening!! Too funny about Hallmark - you really must go show the pic! I've always wanted to try Melting Pot. The one near us closed a few months ago. And we often end up at Walmart! Though for our anniversary date, we ended up at Lowe's instead - LOL!

So glad you got to enjoy some time together! Big you-could-do-a-whole-post-of-possible-comebacks-to-the-Hallmark-lady hugs to you! :) Have a super day my friend!

  12. Kim,

Have you tried to google your calendar to purchase it online?

Sounds like you had a great date even though the dead battery wasn't the best way to end it, it sure was a great way to begin a new day without a dead battery. See God was taking care of you before hubby wasn't around.

    Love and Hugs ~ Kat
