Filling Your Own Tea Bags!

I love to drink tea. Not as much as coffee mind you. I mean I don't get up wanting a cup of tea in the morning. No sir, I want coffee. But sadly this post isn't about coffee, maybe later.

I usually drink tea (or coffee) in the afternoon. And I love a good variety of teas to pick from.
My favorite boxed tea is this.
But it can get quite expensive.

I then decided to buy loose tea and make my own blends. So I bought these tea strainers. But they are kind of a pain to empty and clean.

That's when I started using these.

And I know they've been around forever but I'm just now getting around to using them.
They are so simple to use and you can get quite creative with your tea blends.
Here's how you do it.
Open up the... uh...... well..... open end. LOL!

Put your 2 tsp. of loose tea in.

And then with your iron set on low, simply set it on the open side of the bag for a few seconds to seal the tea bag.

Then just put them in a ziploc bag and label what tea it is and how long it should steep!

Cool huh?
Much more cost efficient.
I got a bag of 50 empty tea bags for $5.75. That's only .ll a piece.

Hope this inspires you fellow tea drinkers to try something new!

Have a fabulous day!

  3. I use the little tea strainers, too, but I love the idea of blending my own tea and having it all ready to go. Awesome. This is much more travel-to-work friendly and would make a great gift idea too! Thanks!

What a great tip for those of us that have our favorite teas and wishing that it could come in bags. You've solved that dilemma for us all!

  5. Hi Kim :)

I love using these tea bags and also use them for Bath Teas and for Pickling Spice :) They work great and you don't have to worry about cleaning the tea balls. Works for me :)

    Have a blessed day!

  7. I am with you, sista blogger, in that I have coffee to start my day, and tea later. The idea of buying your own tea bags in bulk is clever, and the tea that you show as your favorite sounds delicious.
My favorite tea is Green Tea with brown rice (organic, Eden, Genmaicha). My dh thinks it tastes weird, so not to everyone's taste.
I like your idea with the tea bags.

  12. Oh no! Now I have to iron my tea bags too! Couldn't they just come up with a good permanent press?

  13. Hey, does that include shipping? Coz I've seen some a tad cheaper online, but I'm not sure how much S/H runs.

    Love ya loads, baggie buddy!
    Have a JESUS-filled day! ^i^

  15. I have to admit that when I saw the title of your post today, "Make you own tea bags," I almost didn't click. I have plenty to do, making tea bags might put me over the edge.

But, none the less, I clicked and now I am inspired. I think it was the idea of 'custom' making your own blend. How cool is that?

Thanks for taking the time to share.
