Christmas in July! Homemade Gifts for Children!

Today I'm going to give you a couple of ideas for some gifts that you can make for your kids. I'm sorry, but once again it involves sewing.
The first thing is this crayon holder.

I can't take credit for the idea. I found it on the internet.
I'm actually going to make a few of these and sell them at a local Farmer's Market (along with a some other things), when it gets a bit closer to Christmas.
Aren't they cute?

When you're done you just roll them up and tie them.
There are actually a few tutorials out there. Here, here and here are just a few!

The next little gift is soooo easy to make.
They're bean bags!

I'm not crazy about the stitch I used to stitch the backing for the B but you get the idea.
You can personalize them or just use fun fabric.

In order to make them more sturdy I double bagged them. In other words I used some ugly fabric (below) that I had gotten for free somewhere and filled it with the pinto beans then put that sealed bag in the ones you see above.

Here is a link to a tutorial. She made hers a bit different than mine but it will get you started and hers are REALLY cute.

The great thing about bean bags are that there are endless games that you can play with them. The latest and greatest is Cornhole. But just use your imagination and have fun.
AND don't forget to head on over to Kathy's blog to see what she's making today!

Don't forget to enter the giveaway on Monday's post!

HUGS!

Of course, I dont' sew, so I won't be making one...but maybe I'll buy one from you when the time comes that I again have a little one using crayons.

  12. Love it! Last year I made crochet hook holders for my stepmom, grandma and MIL and it is the same basic principle only bigger. I really need to make some of these this year for my daughter and niece. Thanks for the reminder!

  13. Those are so very clever! And a great idea to include, along with some beaded candy canes, in a 'needy child' gift basket. I'm pretty sure, though I have an extremely hostile relationship with beads, I can do the canes... and maybe even the bean bags. I might have to hit y'all up for some crayolls, though. 8-]

    Love ya loads, handy dandy!
    Have a JESUS-filled day! ^i^
