Friday Funnies! Happy New Year!

friday funnies

Happy New Years Eve Everybody!

It’s time to ring in the new year with a few laughs, tears of joy and nose snorts!

Won’t you join me?

If you have a family friendly funny to share, feel free to link it up below.

Now let’s spread some funny!

Since it’s New Years Eve I thought it would be nice to share some New Years fun. Enjoy!

First of all I think that for most of us we vow once again that this is the year we are going to lose weight. So I thought these funnies were appropriate!

Dieting - New Year Resolutions

2007: I will get my weight down below 180 pounds.
2008: I will follow my new diet religiously until I get below 200 pounds.
2009: I will develop a realistic attitude about my weight.
2010: I will work out 3 days a week.
2011: I will try to drive past a gym at least once a week.

And last but not least a New Year's Day Prayer for One and All

Dear Lord,

So far this year I've done well.

I haven't gossiped, I haven't lost my temper, I haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or overindulgent. I'm very thankful for that.  But in a few minutes, Lord, I'm going to get out of bed, and from then on I'm probably going to need a lot more help.

Amen

Happy New Year Everyone!

And My 2011 Calendar Choice Is?

Okay, the fact that I do whole posts about my next years calendar purchase tell you that I take this pretty serious. I mean you are stuck looking at this thing for a whole year. Well at least I am, as mine hangs in my kitchen.

Last years was a no brainer. I saw it and new it was the one. This year was a little harder. There were several that caught my eye (thanks to calendar.com) , but I finally narrowed it down to two.

These two.

201100007886 coffee calendar

My first thought would be to try to find these locally so I wouldn’t  have to pay shipping. So I scoured the country on my calendar hunt. Hallmark? No. Wal-Mart? Yeah, right! Publix? (You never know!) Ross? Uh, uh. Simply Gifts? Nope. Hobby Lobby? YES! YES!

While doing some Christmas shopping I spotted the calendar section at Hobby Lobby. The first one I saw was the Gooseberry Patch one and I thought, “This is the one.” BUT upon further searching, I found the coffee one. Here’s the clincher, there was only one of each left. I had to make a decision and I had to make it now. (I always say that if someone had a camera on me most of my day they would have a pretty good comedy.) So here I stood, calendars in hand. Refusing to put either one down for fear of losing it. I looked at the front, looked at the back, smelled the cover then held it close to my chest.

The Gooseberry Patch Calendar is so nostalgic and precious (and on sale right now on their website). Not to mention it has a recipe for every month. But then on the other hand my new kitchen is going to be done in the coffee theme again. Why couldn’t they have had only one? WHY? WHY? Sorry, a bit to dramatic.

So after what seemed like hours I put one back and walked off with my new calendar. The fact that I got to use my 40% coupon with it was a bonus. So what calendar only cost me $6.40?

This one!

Yes, folks the coffee one won. It now sits happily on my counter waiting for it’s début in just 2 days!

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from inside.

Isn’t it cute? I love it’s whimsy!

So there you have it. A whole posted dedicated to what calendar I bought for next year. If you read to the bottom you truly are my friend. LOL!

Does anyone else take their calendar shopping this seriously or do you buy a Dollar Store calendar and not worry about it?

HAVE A FABULOUS DAY MY FRIENDS!

Back to our regularly scheduled programming!

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas. My family was very blessed. God is so good! We missed my parents being here but due to all the circumstances, we knew it just wasn’t going to happen this year.
This was a stressful month for us to say the least. Moving pushed a lot of things back, like shopping, decorating and taking our annual family picture. But it gave us enough time to decide that we should start a new tradition, since we are in a new home and all. So instead of our usual spot in front of the Christmas tree, we decided to take them in front of the fire place, because we have one, and we’re pretty excited about that. We usually have this done the weekend after Thanksgiving. Well that didn’t happen this year. In fact we took these on Christmas day somewhere between opening gifts and going over to our best friends house for dinner.
Here’s the one that would have been sent out in Christmas cards had I had the time to address and mail some and had we had time to take these earlier. I know you all understand and love me anyway.

And then there were these.

Word Filled Wednesday- Eph. 3:20-21

WFWlogo2

This is our new home. It’s been 3 weeks since we moved in. It’s more than we ever could have asked for. In fact we didn’t ask for it at all. We had another place in mind to buy, but the Lord wanted to bless us with more than we could have ever imagined.

You can read the whole story here here and here! It really is a beautiful example of how God still works today. Even when you only give Him a small window to do it! LOL!   I LOVE it when it’s obvious that it’s all Him. Not us! To God be the Glory!

Have a fabulous day my friends.

Random thoughts this Christmas season

I can’t believe that Christmas is in just 4 days. I admit that I’m a little disappointed on the timing of our move because it really put a damper on my thoughts being about anything but movIMG_0972ing. However we did manage to squeeze in some fun.

Friday night we had our annual Christmas party. I have to say I think it was one of our funnest yet. We have THE most incredible friends.

IMG_0975

There was tons of fun and laughter all night long. Not to mention food! But we won’t go there now will we. OY!

IMG_0998

We also managed to squeeze in our annual gingerbread house competition. (As most of you already know) AND just so you know, this is how mine looks right now.

In the middle of the night we heard something crash and lo and behold it was MY gingerbread house falling apart. I blame it on faulty icing! LOL!

 IMG_1077

This year I had decided to do my own tree, the way I wanted it. No kids allowed to help. It’s mine. ALL MINE! LOL!

My idea was to make most of the ornaments myself and the theme is red and white. I bought a 4 ft tree from Wal-Mart and this is how it turned out. It’s my happy tree!

What do you think?

IMG_1075

I also had the idea to wrap some random cabinets in my kitchen with ribbon to dress them up like presents IMG_1074because it’s always hard to find ways to decorate the kitchen but everyone loved this idea. I used different colored ribbon for each cabinet I wrapped. They told me I should show you because it was a neat idea. Better late then never huh? You can always do it next year.

Also because of the move my parents were not able to come down to stay with us. This of course makes every one sad. It’s just going to feel so different without them being here. My kids adore their grandparents. I AM thankful to have friends here that we do call our family and we look forward to getting together with them for Christmas dinner. I think it’s important to have one or the other or even both nearby.

So even though there may not be as many presents under the tree this year or stuff in the stockings, what’s important remains the same and that’s that we are truly blessed to have a Savior that died for us all and who came by way of a virgin that Awesome and Holy night.

LOVE YOU MY FRIENDS!

Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:
14 “ Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!

The Winner of the Gingerbread House Competition is…..

……MY HUBBY with the Gingerbread Salute!

IMG_0921

Congratulation Honey! You deserve it. See my husband has had issues with his gingerbread houses the last few years. One year his wall kept collapsing. Last year his roof kept sliding off. It just hasn’t been easy for him. LOL! So I am VERY excited that he won.

IMG_0936

My daughter on the other hand says she’ll never do it again! HA! I seriously doubt it. She came in second with the Peppermint Palace.

IMG_0929

And for the first time since the competition started 3 years ago, I didn’t win. But I really didn’t expect to. Mine started to go downhill somewhere between the left wall and the roof. LOL!

I think my boys did a wonderful job and will be some serious competition in the years to come.

IMG_0949IMG_0934

Here are some highlights from the night!

We actually had our best friends Mike and Kathy join us.

Mike seriously wanted to have a flat roof so he could land his helicopter on it. I don’t think it worked out. LOL!

IMG_2492  IMG_0942

Kathy was busy at it. She had some icing issues at the beginning that make us all laugh but she quickly got past them and made a beautiful house.

IMG_2505IMG_2501

We named my 8 year olds the Endless Endeavor because he still wasn’t finished even after we were all done and cleaning off the table.

IMG_0947

We did make quite a mess!

IMG_2498

And I do mean ALL of us. Stormie decided it was her job to recycle the cardboard! LOL!

IMG_2504

We had a great time and look forward to doing it again next year!

Thanks to all who voted (especially for mine)!

Have a fabulous day my friends!

Gingerbread House Competition 2010

We haven’t completely unpacked yet but by golly we decorated gingerbread houses yesterday! LOL! Priorities people! Priorities! With that said…..

…..It’s that time again. Time for you to vote for your favorite decorated gingerbread house.

We do this every year and my family loves it when you vote on your favorite house. And because I don’t want to cheat or give any  hints to who’s is who’s, I’m just going to put them in random order and you vote for your favorite one!

1. The Gingerbread Salute!

 IMG_0918IMG_0919  IMG_0920

2.  It’s just a Happy Accident!

IMG_0930

3. Candy Collage!

IMG_0933 IMG_0934IMG_0935

4. Peppermint Palace!

IMG_0937 IMG_0940 IMG_0938

5. The Endless Endeavor!

IMG_0948 IMG_0949 IMG_0950

Now don’t worry about hurting anyone’s feelings. We do this just for fun and the fact that I’ve won the past 3 years hasn’t made anyone bitter, especially not my daughter who thought for sure that her gingerbread house would win last year. LOL!

Have a FABULOUS day!

HUGS!!
