Haikus by My Son!

In my 11 year olds language course he had to write a Haiku. If you don’t know what a haiku is, it’s a form of poetry originating in Japan and is usually written about nature and gives a picture in your mind by use of its words. A haiku always has 3 lines and 17 syllables. The first and third lines have 5 syllables and the middle line will have 7.

Anyway, my son really took to this and even went as far as writing some just for fun. I was very impressed with them and I know it meant a lot to him when I asked if I could publish a few on my blog.

The leaves falling fast.

The wind bending trees and grass

With flowers flying.

The moon shining bright

The stars sparkle at the dawn

The sun says goodnight

The rain is falling

The blue skies are coming soon

Rainbows in the sky

The birds are singing

The bees are buzzing around

As the flowers bloom

He wrote quite a few more but these are my favorite. What do you think? Let him know your favorite one.

Have a lovely day my friends.

Kim

  2. I love these!! Way too hard to pick one...so I'll pick two. The last one, about birds and flowers, means Spring is coming. I love when the flowers are blooming again. Also LOVE the third one about rain and rainbows. Sums up God's promise in just a few words, I love it!! Great Job!!
