Christmas in July! No SEWING!

Glitter and Glue makes old things new!

Does that give you a hint to what I'll be using today?
I felt sorry for those of you who don't sew and thought this would be a quick and EASY craft to do.

The first one couldn't get any easier.
I bought a bunch of these unfinished ornaments and at first I was going to paint them but then I thought they would be really pretty if I used glitter instead. That way the tree lights will reflect nicely off of them.

The first one is of a snowflake (because you never would have figured that out if I hadn't told you!) LOL!
I just spread glue all over the front with my finger and sprinkled white glitter on it.  You can't see it very well but it glistens nicely in the light.

The second ornament I used 3 different colors just to make it stand out a bit more.

Those took about 5 minutes a piece! EASY and cute.

The next thing is a little wall hanging.
I just took a leftover tile and had my hubbalicious drill holes through it so I'll be able to hang it.
I had bought some stickers on clearance last year. I picked the cute snowman and then simply wrote "Let it Snow" with permanent colored marker. Add a few glitter snowflakes and your done!

Cute huh?

Last year I made some crafts.
For those of you who didn't get to see them, click here and here!
Don't forget to head on over to Kathy's blog to see what she's making today!

I hope you enjoyed this week of fun Christmasy crafts and left with some inspiration.
Join me tomorrow for Friday Funnies!

Christmas in July! Homemade Gifts for Children!

Today I'm going to give you a couple of ideas for some gifts that you can make for your kids. I'm sorry, but once again it involves sewing.
The first thing is this crayon holder.

I can't take credit for the idea. I found it on the internet.
I'm actually going to make a few of these and sell them at a local Farmer's Market (along with a some other things), when it gets a bit closer to Christmas.
Aren't they cute?

When you're done you just roll them up and tie them.
There are actually a few tutorials out there. Here, here and here are just a few!

The next little gift is soooo easy to make.
They're bean bags!

I'm not crazy about the stitch I used to stitch the backing for the B but you get the idea.
You can personalize them or just use fun fabric.

In order to make them more sturdy I double bagged them. In other words I used some ugly fabric (below) that I had gotten for free somewhere and filled it with the pinto beans then put that sealed bag in the ones you see above.

Here is a link to a tutorial. She made hers a bit different than mine but it will get you started and hers are REALLY cute.

The great thing about bean bags are that there are endless games that you can play with them. The latest and greatest is Cornhole. But just use your imagination and have fun.
AND don't forget to head on over to Kathy's blog to see what she's making today!

Don't forget to enter the giveaway on Monday's post!

HUGS!

Christmas In July! Because I'm no quitter! LOL!

Okay! Okay! I'm pressing on because I love you guys and I told you I'd do it and some of you were actually looking forward to it. So here it goes. It maybe a bit shorter and sweeter but that's okay!

Here a couple of Christmas Tree decorating ideas!

The first one you can easily get the kids involved in. Mine loved helping me make these.
 There Candy Cane Ornaments!
Here's all you need to get started!
(Cut the pipe cleaners in half)
I've made these before using tri-beads and they do work better but this is all they had at the time but they still came out cute.
Kids had fun making them.
You can put a bow and hanger on them if you like.
(Just make sure you wrap the ends around the first and last bead or they will all fall off. I'm just sayin'!)
Or just a bow.

Either way, before you know it you'll have plenty to put on your tree or giveaway.
My kids made these in about 5 minutes. LOL!

And here's my other ornament project I'm working on.
Since I now have my own craft room and you know I love red and white, this year I'm going to have a small white tree in my room with red and white decorations that I made and I'm starting with these.
Felt Ornaments!
Cute buttons are a must when doing Christmas projects. If you go back to yesterdays post (the first one) you can see that I used buttons on my stocking.

Here is the finished projects.
I used a whipstitch around the white one and a blanket stitch around the red one. Both are very easy to do.
Yesterday I finished another one that said Joy on it! I'm going to be making lots of these.

That's it for today! If you have any questions on any of these, please don't hesitate to ask. Just make sure I can get back to you via email. Some of you have your email enabled and it makes replying to comments so much easier.

And there is a hidden giveaway in Monday's post that only about 4 people have actually responded too.
AND why don't you see what my BFF Kathy is making today!
Have a great day my friends!

Christmas in July! Day 1 "The Stockings were hung by the chimney with care!"

Merry Christmas in July! LOL!
If you didn't read yesterday's post, you should. It will give you some good insight into why in the world I'm doing this! I'll give you a minute to read it.........Ready? Okay!

Let's get started.
One of my FAVORITE childhood memories is waking up EXTREMELY early Christmas morning, getting my stocking (which was only a tube sock) and opening it on my brother's bed. The sound of the stocking crinkling when I picked it up made me all giddy inside!
And by golly I could NEVER, EVER get all the goodies back inside! LOL!

So does that give you a hint about what today's project is?
Well if you haven't already guessed it, I'm going to show you the ADORABLE stockings that I've been making. AND a couple weeks ago Kathy came over and I filmed her making one so now you can make some for your family. Because believe me you're gonna want to when you see them.
And if you're thinking, "No way!" Believe me, I don't consider myself an expert at sewing by ANY means. So if I can do it, so can you! That is unless you don't have a sewing machine. But that's the only excuse I'm going to take.
I've only gotten my daughter's stocking and my stocking done so far. But I love how you get to personalize them.
Here's my daughters.
Can you tell what her favorite color is???

And most of you know by now what my favorite color combo is. And if you didn't you will now!
 Aren't they cute?

Now this one is special.
 Why is it special?
This is the stocking Kathy made while filming the tutorial. AND, do you notice that the name plate is blank?
That's because one of you are going to be able to win this and decide what name you'd like me to embroider on it for you. (Up to 8 letters!)
All you have to do is tell me what kind of things you used to get in your stockings as a kid. If you didn't do stockings then tell me your favorite childhood Christmas memory. If you don't do Christmas then you probably don't even want this stocking! LOL!
That's it!
You have until 6 p.m. EST, Friday, July 30, 2010 to enter!
(Sorry but U.S. participants only! It gets a little expensive outside the country!)

But don't wait to see whether you win or not. Go over to my BFF's Blog and see how you can make 1 or 3 or 10 for yourself. It's EASY!

Make sure you come back tomorrow for more Christmasy fun!

Christmas In July! Why Now?

So why do this now? I'll give you a few reasons.
Less Stress!
Now is the perfect time to start planning. I don't know about you but it's hot out and I'm inside a lot. So why not put the Christmas music on and get busy. Get a notebook and jot down your ideas and then put them into action. The more you get done now, the more you'll be able to just sit back and reflect on what it's all about any way, the birth of our Savior!
I admit that I love all things Christmas but I never ever lose focus on the whole reason I'm celebrating!
Life as Mom puts these thoughts down perfectly right here!

Boredom Busters!
This is a perfect opportunity to get the kids involved. It's summer and I know for a fact that the young ones get bored. So why not let them help you prepare? You may have to explain to your 5 year old why we aren't putting the tree up yet but he'll get it, eventually! LOL!

Sales!
Take advantage of those Summer back to school sales. I don't know about you but the end of the year has always been tight for us, money wise. So if your budget allows, do most of your shopping now.

Time Saver!
If you can do your shopping early, make sure you go ahead and wrap them and put them away (that is if you have room) and you won't have to worry about it later. We all know how long wrapping can take. Just make sure you keep track of what you bought and for who by writing it on a paper you can keep with the gifts! This also gives you the perfect opportunity to make homemade wrapping paper, which is so much fun to do with the kids!

Have I  convinced you to give it a shot yet?
Well I hope you at least stop by this week for a little peek! Who knows you might get some ideas!

Have a glorious SONday!

Christmas In July! Get Ready!

Some of you just read the title, rolled your eyes and are now clicking out of here and that's okay. This is for those of you who got a little excited thinking about Christmas and all the excitement it brings.

I say it every year. I'm going to get a jump start on Christmas and then I never do. But this year is different. I've actually started making things now and you know what? I'm having so much fun!

So what is this all about? Well I know for a fact that Kathy and I are going to be showing you a little something Christmasy all next week. A little bit of this and a little bit of that. And none of it should involve you having to get anything out of the attic to participate! LOL!

I've also noticed on other blogs that they are doing a Christmas in July as well.
So why not get a little jump start on Christmas and join me next week!

OH Gee! Hmmm....Did I mention there would be a giveaway? Yuppers! And BOY is it cute.
(AND it's going to be tucked neatly in one of the posts so you might actually have to read them!) LOL!

See you Monday!

Party's Over!

It's been a wonderful super fun packed week but my home is showing signs of neglect.

The dog hair is forming into tumble weeds.
The dust bunnies are multiplying by the second and Mt. Dirty Laundry needs to be climbed and conquered.

In a perfect world.....

But the world's not perfect, is it? So guess what I'm doing? LOL!
(And those are NOT pictures of our home. LOL!)

See you tomorrow for Friday Funnies!

The Big 40th Birthday Bash!

As a lot of you know, we had my 40th Birthday Party on Friday.
Let's just say that it was one of the funnest nights of my life.
I am a VERY blessed woman to have such wonderful friends.

I thought in order to made it a bit more fun and entertaining, I'd put a little slide show together of the night.
Turn up the volume and maybe do a little dancing yourself.
Enjoy!

*No one was hurt in the making of this show!* LOL!

It was such a fun night. The pictures really don't do it justice.
There was yummy food, beautiful table settings, delicious cake, my wonderful friends, some serious dancing and would you believe that people actually brought me gifts? Yeah, I know! Suh-weet!
They seriously spoiled me.
Here's a little peek!

I am definitely covered in the chocolate and coffee department for awhile.
Come back tomorrow and celebrate my birthday with me!
Have a fabulous day my sweet friends!

Friday Funnies! The Birthday Edition!

Hey Hey Hey!!! How are all my friends this wonderful, marvelous, most excellent Friday?
Okay as you can tell I'm a bit more peppy today. But for good reason.
I'm celebrating with a big 40th birthday party tonight and I'm REALLY excited.

So in honor of my birthday (which is really next Tuesday) I thought some funny birthday quotes would be appropriate!

Enjoy!

As you get older three things happen. The first is your memory goes, and I can't remember the other two.

A well-adjusted woman is one who not only knows what she wants for her birthday, but even knows what she's going to exchange it for.

Birthdays are good for you. Statistics show that the people who have the most live the longest.

You know you are getting old when the candles cost more than the cake.

Inside every older person is a younger person -
wondering what the heck happened.

Of late I appear
To have reached that stage
When people who look old
are only my age.

Birthdays are nature's way of telling us to eat more cake. (I totally agree with this one!)

If you have a family friendly funny to share please post and it on your blog and link it up below.

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!
