Ok so if any of you love chocolate syrup as I do but don't like all the "stuff" they put in the store bought brand, here is a recipe (though not exactly healthy) that you make and you can pronounce everything in the ingredient list. Team it up with your homemade ice cream and yummo!!

Show and Tell Saturdays- Inspiring Book

It was hard narrowing it down to just one book but when I thought about it this book was the first one to pop in my head. I know I've probably mentioned it a while back but it's good enough to mention again.
Passionate Housewives Desperate for God
This book inspired me to embrace my roll as a wife, mother and keeper of my home. She touched on all the doubts that I ever had about my roll and was encouraging all through the book. It is an easy read and I never once got bored with it or found it irrelevant.I am actually reading it again because I want to absorb more from it.
If you've read the book tell us what you liked or disliked about it in the comments area. I personally don't have anything negative to say about it, but not everyone is like me and opinions differ.
I know some of you were thinking I was probably going to post about the book I got from the Library the other day! LOL. But I thought I'd dig a bit deeper today! Lucky for you, huh?
Thanks for joining me today for Show and Tell Saturdays.
Have a most excellent weekend my friends!!!

Friday Funnies

Ahh! Friday! I love Fridays. Not only is the weekend here but it's time for some good clean fun. Now go back and post your funny video, picture, story etc. and then come back and link it up here with Mr. Linky down at the bottom of this post. Help spread some fun and laughter today!
I have jokes today. I laughed so hard at some of your jokes last week. I hope you enjoy these! Here is the LOST CHAPTER IN GENESIS....
Adam was walking around the garden of Eden feeling very lonely, so God asked him,
"What is wrong with you?"
Adam said he didn't have anyone to talk to.
God said that He was going to make Adam a companion and that it would be a woman.
He said,
"This person will gather food for you, cook for you, and when you discover clothing she'll wash it for you. She will always agree with every decision you make. She will bear your children and never ask you to get up in the middle of the night to take care of them. She will not nag you and will always be the first to admit she was wrong when you've had a disagreement. She will never have a headache and will freely give you love and passion whenever you need it.
Adam asked God, "What will a woman like this cost?"
God replied, "An arm and a leg."
Then Adam asked, "What can I get for a rib?"
The rest is history..
To all you Moms with teenage sons! LOL!
A young boy had just gotten his driving permit. He asked his father, who was a minister, if they could discuss the use of the car. His father took him to his study and said to him, "I'll make a deal with you. You bring your grades up, study your Bible a little and get your hair cut and we'll talk about it." After about a month the boy came back and again asked his father if they could discuss use of the car. They again went to the father's study where his father said, "Son, I've been real proud of you. You have brought your grades up, you've studied your Bible diligently, but you didn't get your hair cut!"
The young man waited a moment and replied, "You know Dad, I've been thinking about that. You know, Samson had long hair, Moses had long hair, Noah had long hair, and even Jesus had long hair...." To which his father replied, "Yes, and they walked every where they went!"

What? I don't have a problem!

Are you laughing? You should be! Yup! That's the mood I was in I guess. I'm not even PMSing LOL. I started reading the I Love Coffee book last night and I know that by the end of it I am going to want to open my own Starbucks!! I am going to be making some killer coffee!! She tells all about the beans and how to brew properly and all sorts of fun stuff. Oh and there are a TON of recipes in the back. I can't wait to try some. And then the Heavenly Chocolate book, what do I have to say about that? The recipes in it look heavenly! I am going to try some out really soon. I might have to buy these two books. I'm going to look on Amazon as soon as I hit publish! LOL.
Well there you have it! You may not leave here feeling smarter but I hope you always leave with a smile! Hee! Hee!
Blessings to you all! Have a great day!
Don't forget about Friday Funnies tomorrow! After a long week, laughter is good medicine!!

Works For Me Wednesday- Affiliate Links
We all know that we could all use a little extra money. Right? Well why not do that by promoting wonderful websites that you buy products from yourself. Oh my side bar I have 4 affiliate links that when you click through them and then buy something I get a percentage of the sale. It's really easy to sign up to be an affiliate. Just simply go to there website and click on their affiliate link and follow the easy instructions. I am all for helping people and I would love to know if you have affiliates as well that I can check out. Here is a little about the 4 that I am affiliated with.
Notebooking Pages.com is great for you homeschoolers. They have all the notebooking pages that you could ever need already made up for you to use. I got the whole set and we use them all the time.
Graham Family Ministries website! is a wonderful family based business. Sheri Graham has such a great heart and has written some wonderful e-books, that I have plenty of and they are worth every penny. And she doesn't charge that much for them. Each month she has a special sale on one of her books or set of books. It's all based around keeping the home and homeschooling.

Well that is what's working for me today.

Tea for Two and Two for Tea
Until just recently I did not own a tea cup and saucer of my own. I had been drinking tea out of my Garfield cup. My husband did make his very sweet attempt at a very pretty cup but it wasn't your typical tea cup and saucer that you would expect to see sitting on a nicely decorated table, set for tea. But that all changed a couple of weeks ago. To my complete surprise, I received this beautiful tea cup in the mail from a most treasured friend, who wants to remain anonymous. (Love you sister friend!) But what makes this tea cup so special is that it's my very first one. I haven't told this to anyone ,but probably my family, but I have this silly thing that I don't want to buy my own tea cups. Not because I'm cheap but because I am sentimental and for some reason I like to put stories behind "things" if I can. And since tea time is such a special little treat for me, I thought it would be more enjoyable to think about the special cup you might choose to drink out of and the person who gave it to you.( no this is not a plug to get you all to send me tea cups, LOL) I just love my new tea cup and as I was having my cup of tea in it yesterday I thought I would show it to you and encourage you to just take 15 mins. each day to just relax. Make tea time your excuse to just sit and do nothing.
Eventually I'd like to host a small woman's tea. My mom has beautiful tea cups from my grandmother and she said that she will bring them down next year when she comes, right MOM? So I am very excited about that. For now I could have a BYOTC party. LOL. I'm sure most of you have figured out what that stands for, but in case you don't it means, Bring Your Own Tea Cup! LOL. I've gotten a couple of books that tell about different types of tea parties and how to set the table and they give appropriate food suggestions along with the recipes. I've really been enjoying those.
And as far as teas go, there are soooo many to choose from these days. My dear friend that sent me the tea cup also sent some teas that I'd never tried before and though I had my doubts about the chocolate hazelnut tea, it was actually very good.
So branch out and go get some off the wall sounding tea and give it a try, and if you like it, tell me about it. I'm always on the lookout for a great new tea. If I drink any more green tea I'm going to start looking like Jr. Asparagus! I put that in there for all you Veggie Tales lovers.
So start today, I give you permission to take 15 mins. to just sit, relax and enjoy some tea.
I would love to host a Blog Tea! I'd call it Blogstock!
I love you my friends!!!
Big Hugs!

ssum ask for. We lifted both sides of the trap and he just sat there with no intentions of leaving. This gave us plenty of time to really get up close and personal with this guy.(a.k.a.homeschooling, LOL) No we didn't touch it! Uh, Eww! But the more I looked at him the less mean he looked. This of course is when he stopped showing his gnarly teeth. He finally did leave and we set the trap again. But this guy got wise. He started to dig UNDER the trap and knock the food off the tray and eat what fell on the ground. Ah! Smart huh?So if you ever needed a reason to visit Florida please don't let this be one of them! LOL. Though you are bound to see this lovely creature sleeping on the side of the road! *snicker* *snicker* I don't advise touching it.
Oh me! It was worth getting up today just to write this post! My mind feels so light and fluffy now that all this heavy stuff has been lifted off and put on paper.
I love you gals and am thankful for your friendships. I know it's not my insightful posts that keep you coming back! LOL.
Great Big Hugs to you today!

Show and Tell Saturdays- Kitchen Gadget

Welcome to Show and Tell Saturdays. This is where you get to show and tell about whatever the theme is for the week and then come back here and link up your post. Today's theme is all about your favorite kitchen gadget. When Melissa picked this one I quickly thought of my favorite gadget and then another and then another. So I didn't end up picking just one. I had to pick the ones that I LOVE to use in my kitchen and wouldn't want to do without.
is my Vita-Mix Machine. This thing slices and dices, purees and chops and will also balance your checkbook. But wait there's more, act now and get a free set of Ginsu Knives! LOL. Okay sorry I got carried away. I think I've seen one to many Infomercials. But it is a WONDERFUL tool in my kitchen. I linked up the website in case you ever wanted to check out what it can do. I also got the dry blender container to grind wheat with. That comes in handy when making your own bread. I admit it is an investment but well worth the money. My next gadget is my Kitchen Aid Mixer. This thing kneads dough, whips up cream and meringue, cookie and cake batters are no match for this baby. And if
we ever come into some money we can get the attachments for this as well. My parents actually got this for me for Christmas 2 years ago and I LOVE it. Again I linked to the website so you can check out the features. They purchased this one at Sam's Club so it was waaaaaaay cheaper than buying online.Okay this next th
ing, I absolutely love making burgers on. They come out so juicy. It's the George Foreman Grill. I know I know but I really do love it. I cook my homemade sausage patties on here and my turkey burgers and they always come out perfect. Fast and easy. Just what I like. These next two things
are pretty indispensable at our home. First is my coffee maker and the second is our handy dandy coffee grinder. I had to add them as they are used just about every day. Well the coffee maker is used ev
ery day!! Oh yeah!! Woo Hoo!!This almost feels like a Works for Me Wednesday post! LOL. Are you still with me or did I loose you at the Vita-Mix. I love to hear about what kitchen gadgets people "really" use. Because I know of some gadgets that just sit in a cupboard somewhere and never see the light of day. Well I'm here to tell you that these fellas see daylight ALL THE TIME!!
I've been known to compare my kitchen to a man's workshop. You gotta have the right tools to do the job. Don't you agree? My husband could totally relate to that and I think shortly after that I got my Vita-Mix. LOL. He was tired of me blowing out cheap "tools"!!
Well there you have it! My favorite most favorite gadgets. Now I'm off to see what you all came up with as your favorites.
Have a great weekend!!!
Big HUGS!

Friday Funnies

To celebrate my computer working (for the time being), I decided to give you a 2 for 1 funny today. Now go post your funny picture, joke, story etc. and then come back and link to that post using Mr. Linky below. Bring on the FUNNY!
Here they are. First a joke.....
Little Alex and the Plaque
One Sunday morning, the pastor noticed little Alex was staring up at the large plaque that hung in the foyer of the church. The plaque was covered with names, and small American flags were mounted on either side of it. The seven year old had been staring at the plaque for some time, so the pastor walked up, stood beside the boy and said quietly " Good morning, Alex"
"Good morning pastor" replied the young man, still focused on the plaque. "Pastor John, what is this?" Alex asked.
"Well son, it's a memorial to all the young men and women who died in the service."
Soberly they stood together, staring at the large plaque. Little Alex's voice was barely audible when he asked "Which service, the 8:15 or the 10:45?"
Now a video funny.....(don't watch any of the others that come up on the screen afterwards as I'm not sure of their content)BIG Hugs my friends!!

Cue the Hallelujah Chorus!!!
Sing it with me , Hallelujah, Hallelujah, (faster now) Hallelujah, Hallelujah, (slower) Ha-lle-lu-jah!!!!!!!
Aren't you glad you read my blog? You might have missed this very inspiring post. LOL! Oh how I kid!
I just thought I'd give you an update just in case you saw me lurking around your blog you wouldn't think I was pulling your leg earlier!!!
Big GIANT Virus size hugs! LOL. Oh me!
Do you feel it?
The frustration I'm feeling right now? For some reason OUR computer won't let us access email or our blog dashboard or CERTAIN websites but it WILL let my MOM'S laptop (which by the way is on the same internet wireless connection) access EVERYTHING. So do you feel it now? The frustration? Sometimes I just want to throw our computer right out the nearest window. LOL.
I think it (our computer) is probably on it's way out anyway. They (whoever "they" are) say that you should get a new one every 2 or 3 years. Well we've done good to have ours for about 6 or 7 now. We keep putting off the inevitable by constantly rebooting and reprogramming everything to keep it going a little longer, erasing most of my files in the process because we really don't know what we are doing half the time! LOL. But that's a WHOLE nother story. Don't you love the word "nother". Does anyone else use that word? Is it even a word? Should I write my own dictionary? Are you bored with this post yet?
This is my post for the day! LOL. Aren't you glad you stopped by? Don't forget about Friday Funnies tomorrow. After today I'm going to need a few good laughs so I'm counting on you to pull through for me okay?
Big Hugs my friends.
Oh yeah and if I don't comment on your blog today it's because of this!! I can visit I just can't leave you any mind blowing thoughts about your post unless I use my MOM'S computer! UGH!!

On this Day I said "I do"
happily married to the man of my dreams. He is my prince charming. I call him my polished redneck! He is an excellent husband and a wonderful father to our children. These have been the happiest 13 years of my life. I'm not saying we haven't had things thrown at us because we have. We've mourned over loved ones, had financial strains, things happen with our children, but our commitment to each other and the Lord has always brought us through. Those things make us stronger and grow us closer together.
uly as happy as we seem. And the answer is yes. Do we have a magic solution to every problem? No. We both put the Lord first in our lives and seek Him for guidance. Without him it would be impossible. He is the key factor here. The second thing is, don't knit pick. Just let some things go. We are all human and all have shortcomings. Have a servants heart. No I didn't say "slave". A servants heart is one that does something without expecting anything in return.
to show some pictures of "the past". A little reflection on our 13 years together. So here we go!We had a small wedding. But it was very nice and we didn't go in debt paying for it.
Hubby and I enjoy doing so much together. Though with 3 kids we don't get to do them as often anymore. We used to fish A LOT and go scuba diving, go on long bike rides, camping. All sorts of fun stuff. Now with our youngest on his way to being 4 we realize we can start doing a lot of those things again, but this time as a family.

Yes that's Steven Curtis Chapman in the background and yes, my husband has a mullet! LOL. Not something he likes to remember!!!

One of life's great joys right here.

So here we are then....

.....and now!

Happy Anniversary my LOVE!

Valentine's 2009- Warning- Lots of pictures!!!
Pecan pancakes with warm syrup!!! YUMMY!

We then enjoyed our morning just being lazy and doing little things around the house. Then after lunch I made every one high tail it out of the house for the next 4 hours. What was I doing?
I was also busy setting this.......
my Valentine table. I kept it very simple yet fun. I used the dessert as the centerpiece as it was so pretty to look at.

A squirrel's eye view.

What was on the menu? This................
Chicken Bryan with Sun Dried Tomato Sauce, Twice Baked Potatoes, and Broccoli ( I know they look a lot like green beans and that's because they are. I forgot to put the broccoli on and everything else was done so green beans it was! LOL)

And for dessert? Heart shaped butter cookies and heart shaped brownies!!!

Here's the family enjoying the feast!

After dinner we read our Valentine's to each other. That is always a fun time.
Then after everything died down we got a little silly. I wasn't going to post these but my son insisted and when you see the picture that he actually wanted me to post you are going to crack up. So here are some pictures from that! Now I know what you may be thinking and no, he's quite normal and quite smart!!! He just has a.... let's just say.... a "special" side to him! LOL.

Everyone kind of got washed out in this picture but I wanted to point out my daughter's perfectly manicured toes! LOL. She was lying on the floor laughing at this point. Not sure why her feet were in the air.

and the last one for now! Does anyone else do this kind of stuff with their camera. I have folder after folder of goofy pictures. More than "normal" pictures!!!

Well there you have it. Valentine's Day 2009 at our house!
Oh by the way! Guess where I'm at right now? In a little Bed and Breakfast with my sweetie. He just surprised me today (Sunday) and I'm writing this now so it will post tomorrow (Monday) when you will be reading it. I love my man!!! That will be another post though!!!
Big Hugs!!

Chicken Bryan

I am linking up with Life as Mom today for the Ultimate Recipe Swap. The theme this week is - Your Ultimate Favorite Recipe! I have many recipes that I love but this one tops them all. It's a bit more work then most but it's oh so good. If you have a recipe to share head on over to Life as Mom for all the details.
This recipe is well worth the effort. I usually make it for a special occasion or something because it's kind of a fancy dish. And really it's not that difficult to make.
Ingredients:
6 large boneless skinless chicken breasts
2 TBS. extra virgin olive oil
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
8 oz. goat cheese, (i buy the herb kind, it adds a nice flavor), soften to room temp.
Sun Dried Tomato Sauce
1 TBS butter
1 TBS finely chopped garlic
1 TBS finely chopped yellow onion
1/2 c. dry white wine
1/4 freshly squeezed lemon juice
3 TBS cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
1 1/2 c. finely sliced sun-dried tomatoes ,without oil( I find these already sliced in the fresh veggie area, they come in a bag)
1/4 c. fresh basil
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp white pepper, ( I didn't have this so I just used black)
Directions:
Prepare the Sun Dried Tomato Sauce: Place butter, garlic, and onion in a large skillet over medium heat and saute until garlic and onion are tender and transparent. Add white wine and lemon juice. Increase heat to medium high and simmer to reduce by half. Reduce heat to low. Add cold butter one piece at a time. Add sun dried tomatoes, basil, salt, and pepper and stir to blend ingredients. Set aside.
Prepare Chicken: Preheat grill, and brush chicken with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Grill Chicken approx. 15-20 mins or until cooked through. Divide goat cheese evenly between chicken breasts, placing some on each breast for the last two minutes of cooking. Place cooked chicken on serving platter and spoon Sun Dried Tomato Sauce over chicken.*Note I generally make the sauce while the chicken is cooking.
This recipe will make your taste buds sooooo happy. I usually double the sauce recipe because my family loves it. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!!
YUMMO!!!

Show and Tell Saturday- Favorite Shoes

Brenda over at The Ties That Bind Us picked this weeks theme of favorite shoes.
This was an easy one for me. Living within walking distance to the beach makes this choice a no brainer. My favorite shoes would be my flip flops. I really don't even have a lot of shoes. If I can get away with wearing my flip flops with a dress (which I've been known to do) I will. That's one of the benefits of living over here as well. It's pretty laid back. I know for a lot of women shoes are a big thing and my sad collection of shoes would make you laugh. Let me ask you this. Did anyone elses feet grow after each pregnancy besides mine? I started out a size 9 and now I'm a size 10 1/2. Let me just tell you now, shoes stop getting cute at size 10. I think that's why my shoe collection is pretty non existent. LOL. But that's besides the point. I know you are on the edge of your seat wanting to see my favorite shoes so here you go. My flip flops and all their wonder!

Do your shoes have a story? If so, go post about it and come back here and link to Mr. Linky below. If you are participating and would like to suggest next weeks theme just let me know your idea!
Have a Happy Valentines Day my friends.
I am surprising my family tonight with a nice dinner. I'll be posting about it probably Monday.

With the high rate of attacks on women in secluded parking lots, especially during evening hours, the Minneapolis City Council has established a 'Women Only' parking lot at the Mall of America. Even the parking lot attendants are exclusively female so that a comfortable and safe environment is created for patrons
Below is the first picture available of this world's first women-only parking lot in Minnesota...................

Soooo...what are you saying?
I'd like to find a mug that size! There's my one cup for the day! YES!
Oh if is were just that easy. I thought this was hilarious and a bit disturbing! LOL. What's he trying to say here? What should I make of this? It's kind of funny. We aren't "drinkers" so we don't have beer or wine in our house, but we treat coffee like it's an alcoholic beverage. LOL. The conversation goes something like this. Them, "Can we have some coffee?" I respond. "No!"They respond. "Why not?" I respond "Because!" They respond. "Because why?" I respond. " Hey does anyone want some chocolate?" I know I could go into the whole "caffeine" thing with my 6 year old but I don't think it would do any good. Distraction is key right now!
What's funny is since I've been sick I haven't wanted any coffee. I mean ewww! It just doesn't taste right. Nothing taste right. I'm only eating to stay alive right now LOL. I had to ask my family the other day if dinner actually tasted good because when your nose is clogged you can't taste very well. As I'm sure you very well know.
Well there's my rivating story for you today. I can't wait to have coffee this weekend!!! Woo Hoo!!! I'm anticipating being better can you tell?
Have a great day my friends.
BIG Hugs!

Homemade Play Dough Recipe

Ingredients:
1 1/2 C. Flour
3/4 C salt
1 1/2 C. water
1 TBS veggie oil
1/2 TBS. cream of tartar
Food coloring of choice or mix for more fun colors. A few drops goes a long way.
Mix all ingredients in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium low heat, until dough comes away from edges of pan and becomes difficult to stir.In other words, it starts looking like playdough!
Remove from heat. Let cool until it can be handled.
Place on wax paper and knead 5-6 times.(This is very therapeutic!)
Store in airtight container.
Have fun!
