Friday Funnies! Funny Deodorant!

friday funnies

Happy Friday my friends!

Did you have a good week? Well whether you did or didn’t I guarantee you’ll leave here with a smile.

Do you want to join in the fun? Well then post about your family friendly funny and then come link it up below. It can be a funny picture, video, story, etc.

Now let’s spread some funny!

My funny today came courtesy of my husbands deodorant. What’s funny about deodorant?

On the front it looks just like your average deodorant.

IMG_2854

But for some reason my hubby decided to read the back of it and this is what it said.

IMG_2853

Isn’t that a hoot?

What’s funny is that he grabbed his old deodorant and it didn’t say that on the back. It was just normal stuff. I personally thought it was hilarious and I think I might contact the company and tell them so. I love a company with a sense of humor!

Have a FABULOUS Friday my friends!

Handmade is Fun!

For our daughter’s birthday, we ended up making her most of her presents. It just kind of worked out that way.

Here’s what we made.

I made her this jewelry holder.

IMG_6944IMG_6945

When she opened it up she asked if it was finished. I couldn’t blame her because it was just a picture frame with some lace stapled to it. Ha! Ha! But once she got her jewelry on it, it came to life! I found the frame at a thrift store for $2.00 and lightly spray painted it white and I already had the lace. Now I want one!

The second thing I made was something that pretty much sums up how my daughter feels about the color pink.

IMG_6948

My husband out did himself with this tea cup holder. Initially he was making it for me but our daughter wanted one so I told him he could give the first one to her since he wouldn’t have time to make another before her birthday. Didn’t he do a fantastic job? I can’t wait for mine. He’s making me two because I have an over abundance of tea cups. I’m so excited!

IMG_6946

Our sons were not to be outdone. Little Man made her this.

IMG_6960

Isn’t it just the most precious thing?

And Middle Man made her this.

IMG_6950 IMG_6953

He completely followed her color scheme. So cute!

We are a definitely a family that  likes to work with our hands and be creative. It’s such a nice outlet for all of us.

Well I just thought you’d like to see these.

Have you got a hidden talent? What do you like to create?

Have a FABULOUS day my sweet friends.

Tis’ the Season!

It would be wrong of me if I didn’t promote this wonderful ebook every year around this time. Why now? Well because it helps you through both Thanksgiving and Christmas and has you planning things out the 1st of October.

I’ve been using it for a few years now and I love it. It gets all those things out of my head and onto paper. Sheri pretty much has thought of everything when it comes to this ebook. You won’t be lacking for lists and recipes, craft ideas etc.

The 12-Week Holiday Planner

If you click the picture it will take you to her website where she describes in great detail everything that is in it. She also has a few sample pages to look at.

All I know is that the holidays go a bit smoother when I’m organized and this book pulls it all together. The cool thing is that you can use it year after year. I just print new pages each year and put it in my Holiday Binder and I’m all set to go.

I’d be wrong if I didn’t tell you that there is something in it for me. I’m an affiliate for Sheri and make a small profit for each ebook sold. But I’d promote it either way because it’s something that I really use and love in real life and would want you to know about.

Don’t forget to enter my giveaway if you haven’t already. It ends October 1st and I have another one in the works for all you digital scrapbookers out there.

Have a FABULOUS day my friends!

18 Years Ago Today!

I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Little did I know what the Lord had in store for us. I watched her fail and I watched her hurt. I watched her triumph and watched her grow.

She is such a blessing to our family. She has hopes and dreams just like every other that has gone before her. She loves the Lord and seeks after His will, no matter how hard sometimes.

She has a smile that lights up the room.

Okay, I better stop or I’m going to cry!

Here are some pictures of the party we had for her Sunday! It was such a fun filled day.

Here is the birthday girl and her amazing cake, made by my BFF!

We’ve Got Issues!

Not deep, earth shattering issues, but issues just the same.

On the outside we look like your average God fearing (and in this picture slightly patriotic) fun lovin’ family. And we are!

100_4193

But there’s something hidden behind these walls. Something that might be disturbing to some people.

It’s this!

IMG_1577

We love us some hot sauce.

We buy the big ol’ honkin’ jug on the left at Sam’s and then refill the littler bottle on the right. We are currently on our second jug since March of this year.

So don’t come knockin’ on our door for a cup of sugar, but if you need some hot sauce, we got you covered!

Do YOU have issues? Do tell!

Have a FABULOUS day my friends!

Friday Funnies! Retired Husband

friday funnies

Happy Friday Everyone!

Sorry about last week. I didn’t think anyone would notice since traffic has been slow but you spoke loud and clear how you missed Friday Funnies, so here we go!

If you would like to join in the fun, I’d love to have you. You can link up a family friendly video, story, joke, picture, etc.

Now let’s spread some funny!

My funny today makes me a little scared for when my husband retires.

Enjoy!

RETIRED HUSBAND
After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Target.
Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunate, my wife is like most women - she loves to browse.
Yesterday my dear wife received the following letter from the local Target:

Dear Mrs. F,
Over the past six months, your husband has caused quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behavior and have been forced to ban both of you from the store. Our complaints against your husband, Mr. F, are listed below and are documented by our video surveillance cameras:
1. June 15: He took 24 jars of denture cream and randomly put them in other people's carts when they weren't looking.
2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute intervals.
3. July 7: He made up a false nametag and started greeting people at the door.
4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official voice, 'Code 3 in Housewares. Get on it right away'. This caused the employee to leave her assigned station and receive a reprimand from her Supervisor that in turn resulted with a union grievance, causing management to lose time and costing the company money.
5. August 4: Went to the Service Desk and tried to put a bag of M&Ms on layaway.
6. August 14: Moved a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area.
7. August 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told the children shoppers to bring pillows and blankets from the bedding department to which twenty children obliged.
8. August 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him he began crying and screamed, 'Why can't you people just leave me alone?' EMTs were
called.
9.. September 4: Looked right into the security camera and used it as a mirror while he picked his nose.
10. September 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, he asked the clerk where the antidepressants were.
11. October 3: Darted around the Store suspiciously while loudly humming the ' Mission Impossible' theme.
12. October 6: He grabbed a Wonka bar at the check out and started singing the Oompa Loompa song.
13. October 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through, yelled 'PICK ME! PICK ME!'
14. October 22: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he assumed a
fetal position and screamed 'OH NO! IT'S THOSE VOICES AGAIN!'
15. October 30: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited awhile, and then yelled very loudly, 'Hey! There's no toilet paper in here.'
One of the clerks passed out.

We are sorry for the inconvenience. Have a nice day!

Have a FABULOUS day everyone! And don’t forget to enter my giveaway!

New Tiny Tips Series Review and Giveaway!

brandnewseries

When I heard about this new series I was so excited. As a Gooseberry Patch book lover, one of the things I loved about them were the little tidbits of information and tips that they would sprinkle throughout their books. Now they’ve gone and put them into a neat little series.

Right now there are 4 books in the series and they have sent me two of them to review.

I have

cozyhome

and

makegive

At just 5”x5” these books are small in size, but big in the fun department.

The first book, “Tiny Tips for a Cozy Home” gives just that. Goodness gracious I was bookmarking pages left and right. Some of the ideas I am already incorporating.

Things like

IMG_2802

Some of you might remember this picture of my kitchen cabinets after I took the doors off. I gotta tell you, I have been loving this idea. It just makes me happy to be in the kitchen.

IMG_2804

Then there is this quick and easy idea.

IMG_2803

I love using handkerchiefs as part of the decor. I did it here in my white hutch that’s in our bedroom. It just adds that little extra something.

IMG_2807

Here are a few more Tiny Tips!

Need a new handle for your garden gate? Attach a weathered garden tool, like a spade or trowel….how clever!

An old-fashioned mailbox placed on your garden gate makes a handy spot to store small garden tools, gloves and seed packets.

Small birdhouses make whimsical toppers for garden fence posts! Pick up some undecorated ones at a craft store, or collect a variety of styles at flea markets.

As you can see, it would be a great book to add to your collection.

The next book “Tiny Tips for Gifts to Give” has such fun and creative ideas for gift giving. I like the fact that most of them are simple and practical things. I was having “Duh” moment after “Duh” moment because some of the ideas were so cute yet so easy.

Here are just a few of my favorite ideas from the book.

IMG_2799

How cute would this be? You could tuck in a loofah sponge or something with the soap. What a cute gift.

Then there’s this one.

IMG_2798

This would make a great neighbor gift at Christmas or just for someone who loves to bake. This was one of my “Duh” moments. Simple, yet oh so cute!

And just one more.

IMG_2800

I think this one would make great grandparent gifts. Don’t you?

As you can see each book has the cute artwork you’ve come to know and love about Gooseberry Patch. They are just so fun to look at.

If you’d like to see the other two books in the series go here to check them out.

Now Gooseberry Patch only sent one book each this time and it was up to me whether I wanted to give one away. How could I not share with my peeps at least one of the books. So the giveaway is for “Tiny Tips for a Cozy Home”. It was so hard deciding which one to part with.  They are both so fun!

Here are all the ways to enter. Please read carefully.

1. Tell me what makes your home cozy to you.

2. If you are a follower of my blog let me know.

3. Go “like” Gooseberry Patch on FB and then come back and tell me that you did. If you already do, just let me know.

4. Like “Homesteader’s Heart” on FB and then come back and let me know that you did. (Shameful Plug) LOL!

5. Blog about it and leave me the URL in your comment.

6. Facebook or Tweet it.

So you have 6 ways to enter.

The fine print: This giveaway is only open to U.S. and Canadian residents. You must leave a separate comment for each entry. You must leave me some way to get in contact with you if you were to win the giveaway.

This giveaway is open until: October 1st,2011 @12:00 pm EST

Fun Busy Stuff!

You know I find myself asking for more hours in a day but I wouldn’t have the energy to do anything with them, so I quit asking for them.

I have been a busy little beaver this last week and a half. I’m getting ready for my daughter’s 18th birthday and Pinterest has got me hoppin’ and wanting to make all sorts of things. I keep pinning more and more crafts and gift ideas to make.

Right now I have my eyes on making this cute little dish soap apron. They are so cute!

I’m thinking about making this for my boys for Christmas and use bean bags to play with.

And then there’s these.

Source: flickr.com via Kim on Pinterest

And most of you know I still have TONS of denim jeans I don’t know what to do with, so I thought this was a cute idea.

Oh and don’t even get me started on spray painting. It’s my new found passion and I’ll post some pictures of some things I’ve been painting, real soon.

So as you can see I have plenty of ideas but not enough time nor energy to do them all. We’ll see what I get done before Christmas.

What’s on your list of things you want to do but probably won’t get around to doing?

Happy Sunday

Remember who He is……

…and who you are…
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:9

That’s It, I’m Starting My Blog Over!

And this time I’m coming back as a teenage girl. LOL! Someone please tell me when my daughter's blog got so popular? She’s only been blogging shy of one year and already has over 200 followers. I’ve been blogging almost 5 years and have just double that. At the rate she’s going she’ll have 1000 followers by the time she hits 5 years.

Actually I’m very proud of her. If she can write about MY banana bread recipe and actually get someone to comment let alone 5 people, she’s doing something right. Ha! Ha! She already has 189 people entering her pinkalicious giveaway and is turning into quite the blog designer. I see photography and design in her future.

And to top it all off she’s going to be 18 in less than two weeks. *sigh* When did she grow up? I’m so very proud of her and pray she uses her powers for good and not evil. Serious, warm fuzzy, moment gone. Ha! Ha! Hey it only lasts so long you know.

me3

Keep up the good work my daughter! I love you!

P.S. As you can see there was no Friday Funnies this week. I’ve decided to do it every other week due to lack of interest. (Maybe I should have my daughter take it over!) LOL!

The Pencil War!

I’ve had an all out pencil war since I’ve started homeschooling. They simply don’t make them like they used to. Well the eraser part at least. And because I must have a tad too much time on my hands, I did a little experiment.

I gathered all the assorted pencils that I had lying around and wrote Pencil #1 , Pencil #2 and so on with the pencil that is being represented below the written word “pencil # sunthin’”. And if you understood that prior sentence you must come here often. If not, then I’ve got a picture illustration below. IMG_2771

Here’s a closer look.

IMG_2772 IMG_2773

Now I took the corresponding pencil and erased the written word “pencil # whatever” above it, using the eraser provided on the pencil.

Here are the results.

This is pencil #1. Impressive huh? Not. Can you imagine a whole paper that looked like this.

IMG_2774

The rest weren’t much better. Except for Pencil #6.

IMG_2775 IMG_2776

IMG_2777

Pencil #6 won hands down, so I promptly went to my nearest Staples and bought a box of their name brand pencils. It even says on the box “latex-free erasers”. Which meant nothing to me, all I know is that their erasers erased, so I was happy, latex free or not.

Have any of you had trouble with the “new” pencils out there?  The thing is, is that they KNOW they are selling you a pencil with a crappy eraser because if they didn’t there would be no use for these.

IMG_2779

And this is if they even stay on your pencil. The one to the left broke off while in mid erasing and half the time they don’t even fit on there well.

Well there you go. Do you feel like you’re leaving just a little more educated? I did the foot work for you, did a mind blowing experiment and came to a conclusive decision.

You’re welcome and Have a FABULOUS day!

Why I Love Going to Garage Sales!

Garage sales are hit or miss. But one of the perks of living in Florida is that people garage sale all year long.

Sometimes we go out and all we see is junk but there are other times that we go out and totally score! Last weekend was such an occasion.

We only went to 3 or 4 garage sales but they were doosies, doosy’s, doosi’s? They were really good!

Here’s some of the stuff that we bought.

IMG_2768

1. 2 fire extinguishers

2. a whole big bag full of assorted ribbon.

3. a pink heart bank for my daughter

4. a hoe

5. garden edging

6. brand new school supplies

7. 4 small picture framesIMG_2769

8. a bag full of thread

9. about a gazillion magnets (going to use for crafting)

10. a roll of fabric

11. 2 shirts for my daughter

12. chicken wire

GRAND TOTAL? $16.50. Yup. You heard me. $16.50. But wait, there’s more!

My hubby scored a load full of lumber for only $20.00.

IMG_2784

So although you never know what you’re going to come across, I believe they are worth the time and effort for those days when you come across some really great deals. We save a lot of money going to garage sales.

Do you go to garage sales? What are some of your best deals?

Have a FABULOUS day my friends.

Oh by the way my daughter is having an awesome giveaway on her blog to celebrate her upcoming 18th birthday. Go check it out here!
